In this episode, I speak for a few minutes in Spanish about the various reasons that I love to travel, including speaking other languages with native speakers and learning about different cultures. I also speak about some of the places I've been to before and some of the languages that I have spoken in other countries, so you can learn this vocabulary too. Weather is an important thing to be able to speak about in any language you learn. As a native English speaker, learning to speak about the weather in Spanish can be difficult as it works quite differently. In English, we mostly use the verb "to be" to speak about the weather, saying things like "it is sunny", "it is cold" or "the weather is good". But for all of these sentences in Spanish, we don't use 'ser' or 'estar', but instead, we use the verb 'hacer'! In this episode, I'll be speaking in Spanish for 5 minutes using lots of vocabulary in this topic, including those phrases which I just included and much more, such as what I do depending on the weather. Make sure you check out the episode transcript to help with your understanding too! The link is at the bottom of this description. In the last couple of Beginners' Corner episodes, I've been speaking in Spanish using the perfect tense to give you lots of practice hearing it used in context and to allow you to incorporate it into your own Spanish. This week's episode is dedicated to using the immediate future tense instead to help you to start speaking about things that you are GOING to do! In Spanish, this tense is formed using the verb IR + a + an infinitive in sentences such as 'Voy a ir al cine' (I am going to go to the cinema). It's very simple to form for English learners once you get the hang of it and if you can use this tense your ability to speak Spanish will be greatly improved! Listen to this episode to hear me speaking about lots of things that I am going to do tomorrow, including lots of vocabulary you will have seen before but of course, introducing lots of new stuff too! In the last Beginners' Corner episode, I spoke in Spanish using the perfect tense, which is the tense we use to speak about things we "have done" in the past.  In this episode, I give you some further practice to help you understand this tense as a Spanish learner and hear it used in a very relevant context: what I've done during the quarantine and what my family has done too. I'll use lots of different verbs, including 'gustar', plus lots of connectives which will be great to incorporate into your vocabulary. Enjoy!  Sign up for lessons with ESpeak! https://espeak.online/contact/#sign-up Follow us on Instagram: @espeak.online Please leave a review on Apple Podcasts or Stitcher if you've liked this episode, as it will help us to reach more people who can benefit from our content!   Find the transcript in Spanish and English for this episode at https://espeak.online/transcript-beginners-corner-12 --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/espeak/message
So far in our Beginners' Corner episodes, we've stuck mainly with the Spanish present tense to make things as simple as possible, with only a few phrases in other tenses. In this episode, I want to branch out and start introducing you to other tenses, so it's focused on the perfect tense! This is what we use in Spanish when we're speaking about things we "have done" - it can be used when you've done something but haven't specified exactly when, but it can also be something you've done previously in an incomplete time period e.g. today, this year. I hope this is a helpful introduction and make sure to use the transcript on our blog to help you! Get your free Spanish lesson! https://espeak.online/contact Follow us on social media!
