On September 10th Charlie Kirk was killed in broad daylight on a college campus in Utah by the alleged assassin Tyler Robinson. Another casualty of the woke war on the West. An insidious revolt that many Christians have a hard time wrapping their minds around, which is why this edition of Hank Unplugged is dedicated to summarizing the issue at hand in memorable fashion via the word W–O–K–E.   “W” representing the word Worldview. Students, particularly in the West, are being propagandized by a WOKE WORLDVIEW. Charlie Kirk was committed to dismantling the absurdities of this paradigm in polite and principled public discussion.   “O” will serve to remind us of the word “Oppression.” The woke West seems intractably bent on taking the Marxist oppressor/oppressed maxim to unthinkable extremes. Their objective is to liberate an entire generation from such perceived oppressions as cis-gender normativity, and from the oppression of what is perceived to be arbitrary moral law.   “K” — I use the letter “K” to emblazon upon our collective consciousness that Kids — your kids, my kids, are a primary target of leftist woke revolutionaries. Charlie Kirk recognized this reality and, as such, became the enticing target for an assassin’s bullet.   “E” serves to remind you and me of Extremism. Extremism in Education, Environmentalism, and in Entertainment.   The murder of Charlie Kirk is emblematic of the woke worldview war being waged against you, your children, and against the very soul of Western Civilization. God doesn’t see time the way we do. While we live according to hours, deadlines, and a focus fixed on the future (chronos), God operates in kairos—sacred moments filled with purpose and a pursuit of being fully present. Does the West need a religious revival? This was the subject of a debate hosted by The Free Press at the Paramount Theater in Austin Texas on February 27th. The debate pitted two religious advocates—Ayan Hirsi Ali and Ross Douthat—against two avowed atheists—Michael Shermer and Adam Carolla—in search of an answer. The scene of current affairs in the West was set by The Free Press as follows:“The West has experienced a rapid erosion of our shared culture. Political polarization, loneliness, depression and addiction have surged, while marriage and birthrates have plummeted. There’s a crisis of meaning, and a growing chorus of intellectuals are pointing to secularism as the cause. Studies show that religious service attendance correlates with lower rates of depression, suicide and substance abuse. Religious individuals are also more likely to marry, stay married, and have children. For the first time in U.S. history, church membership among Americans has fallen below 50%. Less than a fifth of Western Europeans attend church regularly. In Sweden, over 75% of young people claim no religion at all. So, is the decline of religion to blame for our social unraveling? Or are rapid technological changes, growing economic inequality, and other social disruptions the culprit? This year was a reminder of the ephemeral reality of our earthly experience. Last Christmas we sent out a Christmas card featuring a joyful photo of Hank from a trip to India—a trip with his dear Friend K.P. Once again you and I find ourselves perched on the eve of the annual Christmas day celebration. And as such, we do well to remember our Lord’s words concerning the reason He condescended to cloak Himself in human flesh. “The Son of Man came to seek and to save what was lost” (Luke 19:10). This Christmas Eve may you and I not trivialize the Christmas celebration but rather be transformed by the greatest cleavage in human history. That of a Second Adam who clothed Himself in fallen humanity and in doing so returned fallen humanity to the life of Eden. “To him who overcomes,” said Jesus, “I will give to eat from the tree of life, which is in the midst of the Paradise of God” (Revelation 2:7). Other than Scripture, Darwin’s magnum opus, The Origin of Species by Means of Natural Selection, might be the most significant literary work in history. light of the unprecedented impact of Darwinian dogma, it would be reasonable to expect it to be solidly rooted in truth. In reality, evolution is rooted in metaphysical contentions and mythological tales. However, as you will hear on today’s encore presentation of the Hank Unplugged podcast, the foundations of the great cosmogenic myth of evolutionary naturalism are crumbling. A short while ago we received news that the great iconoclast of evolution, Jonathan Wells, had departed this life on his 82nd birthday. His death led us to listen to the last conversation with him on the Hank Unplugged podcast—a podcast devoted to his last book, Zombie Science which was a follow-up to the classic volume titled Icons of Evolution. We could not help but think that our podcast discussion with Jonathan Wells provides one of the most concise and compelling refutations of the evolutionary paradigm we’ve ever heard. With two earned doctorates, Jonathan Wells was not only a brilliant scientific mind, but he was also incredibly brave in the face of the brazen attacks that await anyone who dares disagree with the so-called scientific consensus on evolution. The people of Palestine are caught in the crosshairs of the only significant religious system in the history of the human race with a sociopolitical structure of laws that mandate violence against the infidel.  While much has been made about the state of Israel and the several shades of Zionism that play a role in its complicated history, it is impossible to accurately assess the Israeli-Palestinian conflict without understanding the most important factor of them all—Islam.  While there are people of other faiths (such as Christians) that live in the land called Palestine—I have close, personal friends among them—the majority of the people occupying this territory are Muslims and all of the citizens of Gaza are led by Hamas, a militant Islamic organization with connections throughout the Islamic world that undoubtedly and unabashedly desire the destruction of all Jews along with the death of America and ultimately the West.
