Renewal For Your Life

Renewal For Your Life

2021-09-1227:21

In 2 Chronicles we read about the reign of Hezekiah — a 7th Century BC king of Israel who leads the nation back to God. His father – who had been king before him — had been evil and had led the Jews in the wrong direction. Hezekiah turned things around. He wiped out the idols and instituted sweeping reforms. If you study Hezekiah, you see how he foreshadowed David (and Christ) — and you see how he provides a model of repentance. I am referencing Hezekiah here as we begin a yearlong focus on renewal.  I do so to call us to kick this year off with a prayer of repentance. I invite you to join with me.

Renewal

2021-08-2933:12

This morning we’re laying the foundation for the upcoming year where we will be focused on renewal. First, this fall we’ll focus on personal renewal, then later this winter we’ll focus on church renewal, and last we’ll learn about renewal for our communities.
This morning we wrap up our three-week study of John 17 – a conversation between the God the Father and God the Son about several things, not the least of which is: you and me. In today’s sermon, Mike focuses on the last part of Jesus’ pray where he specifically prays for the unity of all believers.
This morning we continue our three-week study of John 17 – a conversation between the God the Father and God the Son about several things, not the least of which is: you and me. In John 17 we get a chance to look behind the curtain and see what Jesus wants for us – what He prays for us. In today’s sermon, Mike focuses on John 17:17, Christ’s prayer that our lives would be shaped by truth.
The Real Lord's Prayer

The Real Lord's Prayer

Today Mike starts a brief series on The REAL Lord’s Prayer found in John 17 — a key chapter in the Bible. The Gospel of John is important for all sorts of reasons. As we will see, John 17 is a uniquely important chapter in this uniquely important book. And it has insight that is both needed and immediately practical.
This week, we have special guest Armando, one of our global partners who works with refugee communities in the Middle East, sharing with us. He will be looking at the passage of Genesis 13 at the unique danger that comes from being in close relationship to those following God, how that proximity can give the impression of shared commitment even among those who aren't seeking after God. Then what enables a person to truly seek after the promise of God.

This weekend is the 3rd and final installment in our “Meeting Jesus” series. We will be looking at one of the most remarkable stories of transformation on all of human history — the story of the conversion of the Apostle Paul. How did Saul of Tarsus, the most feared and violent persecutor of the early church, become the most articulate and bold voice for Christianity in the first century? Join us this weekend as we explore this amazing story together.
In our second week of this series, Meeting Jesus, we will be looking at Philip and the Ethiopian Eunuch in Acts 8. In this story we will see Philip as an obedient follower of Christ and the Ethiopian respond to the work of the Spirit in his life. God still desires to use us to help others meet Jesus. And through this story we can be inspired to have spiritual conversations with people in our own lives.
This is the first week of our new series, Meeting Jesus. We’ll kick off this series looking at the story of the woman Jesus met at the well in John 4. Through this story, we’ll see how God’s desire is for people to meet Jesus and abide in him, not out of guilt but out of an overflow of faith. And through this story we can be inspired to have spiritual conversations with people in our own lives.

I AM Light

I AM Light

2021-05-0228:20

Today – on this communion Sunday - we finish the I AM series with Christ’s claim to be the Light of the World. It is one of the many ways that Jesus – who serves, who lives simply, who is so focused on others – points to himself, making the biggest claims possible. In a moment, Mike will be walking us through John 8 when Jesus makes this startling claim. Right now….
