Label: Decca 32362Year: 1968Condition: MPrice: $30.00This is an especially beautiful copy of this especially great Who single. Besides the classic A side that everyone knows and loves, you get a superfine, quite catchy Entwistle rocker that hardly anyone knows on the flip side. Check it out! Note: This 45 record comes in a vintage Decca Records factory sleeve. It has Near Mint labels with a drillhole and untouched-looking vinyl. The astounding audio is pristine Mint, both sides! (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
Label: Mercury 72898Year: 1969Condition: M-Price: $15.00This is far from an obscure soul nugget (which I usually reserve the Classic 45s jukebox for), but I got serious goosebumps when playing it today and realized I just don't hear it often enough! Dave Marsh has it pegged just right, slipping it in the top 100 of his list of the 1,001 greatest singles of Rock'n'Soul — a triumph for both the singer and for the writer/producers and their nascent Philly Soul style. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Mercury Records factory sleeve.
Label: I.R.S. 9907Year: 1982Condition: MLast Price: $14.00. Not currently available for sale. This is simply one of the very best girl group songs of all time. Unlike their Sixties counterparts, though, these girls write their own songs, play their own electric guitars and drums, and sing about the lovelife of working girls who are way past sweet sixteen! Note: This copy has light storage wear that lowers the Label grade to Near Mint.
Label: Kent 411Year: 1965Condition: M-Price: $40.00From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy. Absolutely stunning soul music going on here... Both uptempo sides are immediate grabbers.
Label: Columbia HOF 33210Year: 1971Condition: MPrice: $9.00Originally released as the B side of Columbia 45467. The group was pretty audacious to cover a tune that already had a definitive version, in this case by the Spencer Davis Group (featuring writer Steve Winwood). However, you must recall that Chicago was a damn good, multi-talented band back in 1971, full of creativity and genuine rock sensibilities. So they managed to make yet another definitive version. Most of the track is a celebration of the group's drummer and rhythm section, leading slowly back to guitarist Terry Kath's psych-rock chording. This is a beautiful copy of the red-label Columbia Hall of Fame reissue, in its Hall of Fame factory sleeve. It has pristine Mint audio.
Label: RCA 9583Year: 1968Condition: M-Price: $20.00This was the second attempt by RCA to get this great single played in the U.S.... and this time they got it into the top 40. It was first released a year earlier on RCA 9186. Both sides are essential listening! By the way, in the U.S. this was a non-album single. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage RCA Victor Records factory sleeve. It has pristine Mint, very powerful audio.
Label: Capitol 2592Year: 1969Condition: MPrice: $11.00Credited to 'Joe South and The Believers' This is one of my all-time favorites, from a songwriter and singer who amazingly straddled the line between soul and country throughout the 1960's. A description of yearning that I think everyone can relate to, even now, 45 years later. The flip is a terrific power pop number. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Capitol Records factory sleeve. It has Mint labels and very nearly Mint-looking vinyl. The amazing Stereo audio sounds pristine!
Label: ABC 11382Year: 1973Condition: M-Last Price: $14.00. Not currently available for sale. One of the best early Steely Dan numbers, this is a great, specially edited version of the 5:21 LP cut. Check out our jukebox "snippet" of it. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage ABC/Dunhill Records factory sleeve. It has light storage wear on the Labels and Vinyl, which grade Near Mint. The audio sounds pristine.
Label: Salsoul 2014Year: 1977Condition: M-Price: $20.00This terrific Soul instrumental dancer, verging on Disco, grabbed me right away, so I made an mp3 "snippet" for our "jukebox"... Have a listen! The B side appears to be a non-album cut. Note: This beautiful copy has pristine sound.
Label: Toddlin' Town 108Year: 1968Condition: MPrice: $10.00From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy with a drillhole. This is one of the places in the late 1960s where Funk began to separate from Soul music. Note: Aside from the drillhole, this is a stone Mint copy.
Label: Atco 7008Year: 1974Condition: MPrice: $22.00From a warehouse find, this is a new, unplayed stock copy with a drillhole, in its original factory sleeve. One listen to this little dancer gem, and you'll be in love (with the song)! Note: Aside from the drillhole, these copies are pristine Mint. The placement of the drillhole varies, as does the presence and amount of "bubbling" on the labels. The wax and audio are uniformly in Mint condition.
Label: Atlantic 2735Year: 1970Condition: M-Last Price: $15.00. Not currently available for sale. Here's a beautiful copy of one of my personal favorite 45s ... Both because of the timeless A side, and the iconic folk-rock on the flip. Note: This 45 record comes with a vintage Atlantic Records sleeve. This vinyl pressing looks almost new and has Near Mint sound with almost no surface noise.
Label: Bell 672Year: 1967Condition: M-Last Price: $20.00. Not currently available for sale.Wow! The A side is a decent cover of the Jerry Butler & Impressions classic, but wait'll you get a load of the powerhouse on the B side! Talk about a dance master... you'll have 'em up on the floor in no time flat. Check out the mp3 "snippet"! Note: This beautiful copy has two small drillholes and comes in a vintage Bell Records factory sleeve. The vinyl grades very close to Mint in appearance, and the powerful audio is stone Mint!
Label: U.A. 370Year: 1961Condition: M-Price: $16.00One of my all-time favorite folk numbers, this song has been recorded many times over the years — including at least two off the top of my head, by the Beach Boys and by CCR. This is one of the nicest stock copies I've yet had in the store since opening in 2001! Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage United Artists Records factory sleeve. The labels grade very close to Mint, and the audio sounds almost flawless! The vinyl (styrene) also grades Near Mint with just a little scuffing. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
Label: Bearsville 49779 djYear: 1981Condition: M-Last Price: $12.00. Not currently available for sale.Stereo/Mono promo copy. Well, this one is just too good to let waste away in obscurity. Probably too poppy for Foghat's usual fans, it still sports some top-notch guitar work. And it's an absolutely perfect little slice of power pop! The picture sleeve has a great group photo on the back, as well as the full song lyrics. It has pristine Mint audio.
Label: Musicor 1251Year: 1967Condition: M-Price: $28.00This is one of the group's very best uptempo dance tunes from the late 1960's. It was a non-album single. Note: This beautiful copy comes in a vintage Musicor Records factory sleeve. The vinyl looks almost untouched, and the audio sounds pristine Mint!
Label: Brunswick 55354Year: 1967Condition: MPrice: $25.00This single has two terrific uptempo sides, but it's the B side ("Who Who") that really grabbed my attention on first listening. Have a listen to the mp3 snippet to hear why! Note: This beautiful copy has a drillhole and comes in a vintage Brunswick Records factory sleeve. Other than the drillhole, it has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
Label: Atlantic 2546Year: 1968Condition: M-Price: $18.00Here's a great Aretha hit you don't hear very often (or see on vinyl very often, for that matter). But one listen will explain why Dave Marsh included it in his list of the 1,001 greatest 45s. As a double thrill, you also get her dynamite cover of the Dionne Warwick hit from the year before on the flip. Aretha's version actually was a bigger hit on the Black chart (#3) than Dionne's was (#6). By the way, the A side is a non-album tune, while the flip is specially edited from a 3:30 album track. Note: This beautiful copy has a drillhole and comes in a vintage Atlantic Records factory sleeve. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
Label: Motown 1060Year: 1964Condition: MLast Price: $120.00. Not currently available for sale. This is gorgeous copy of the Supremes' break-out, first #1 hit single. Listening to the jaw-dropping audio (check out the mp3 "snippet") reminds me of how big and bright Motown managed to mix their hits for vinyl in the 1960s. What you hear on albums, CDs, and reissue 45s just doesn't come close! This 45 comes in a Near Mint copy of the release's rarely seen picture sleeve, with a little top-edge wear. Note: This 45 record has no notable flaws, grading Mint across the board (Labels, Vinyl, Audio).
Label: MGM 13322Year: 1965Condition: M-Last Price: $30.00. Not currently available for sale. Here's a beautiful copy of the original MGM pressing of this swamp-rock classic. These tracks had earlier been released on the small Texas label XL, a 45 that could fetch $1,000 or more if you find a Near Mint copy! :-) Besides the well-known and -loved A side, which Dave Marsh pegs at #78 in his Top 1,001 singles list, be sure to check out the totally cool blues-rock performance on the flip. This is precisely the kind of sound that British groups like the Animals and Stones were striving for at the time and is one of the foundations of what became known as "Garage Rock." (Check out the mp3 snippet we've added to our "jukebox.") By the way, this very short (2:05!) B side wasn't included on any of Sam The Sham's albums... it was a non-album cut available only this 45. Note: This 45 record comes in a vintage MGM Records factory sleeve. It has Near Mint labels and Near Mint-looking vinyl. I'm delighted to report that both sides of this important single have Near Mint audio. (This scan is a representative image from our archives.)
