Today, we speak with our newest employee and ReStore Manager, Matt Sullentrup. He discusses our ReStore hours, items that we accept or don't accept, how many volunteers we need a day and more!
Today, our Executive Director Susan Cook-Williams was joined by three other Directors of social service agencies in town to talk about housing in Jefferson City. Angela Hirsch, director at RACS; Brian Vogeler, Shelter Director of Salvation Army; and Tina Mollenkamp, Director of Common Ground. Join us as we discuss the housing issues in Jefferson City and the struggles our clients are facing as they look for affordable housing.
Today, we spoke with one of our newest Habitat homeowners, Rashad. He and his beautiful family moved into their home late September and are a proud part of the Habitat family. Rashad talks about his experience in the program, what life was like prior to being a homeowner and why the program was so important to him. It's a great discussion so we hope you enjoy!
Join us for a conversation with our Volunteer Coordinator, Amy Gillespie. Last week was Volunteer Appreciation week, so we discuss our current volunteers, our volunteer needs and so much more!
Today, we spoke with a current Partner Family, Kennysha. She and her beautiful family will soon be proud homeowners of a Habitat home on Jackson Street. Kennysha talks about her decision to become a homeowner, what the future home means to her and why they moved to Jefferson City a few years ago. It's a great discussion with a great future homeowner!
On May 22, 2019, a tornado devastated our town. One of the hardest hit areas was around Jackson Street and it affected our affordable housing market. Along with the 5 homes that we are currently building for our regular homeownership program, we are committed to building four additional brand new homes on Jackson Street to assist with our town's recovery. Today, we speak with Ron Medin, long time Habitat volunteer and chair of the Blitz Build Committee, about the Blitz Build plans, how people can get involved and how the history of our affiliate relates to this year's effort.
In this episode, Rayma Grohs joined us to talk about the recycling program, Cans for Habitat. It is amazing what a single aluminum can is able to accomplish! We have already built one house from the proceeds of aluminum can recycling and just about to start on another house! Join us for a lively discussion about cans, quilts and more!
Want to know what the typical Habitat home looks like? Or what to expect if you volunteer on the jobsite? Our Construction Manager Shane Spalding clues us in on everything related to construction. Come join us for a great conversation!
Welcome to the River City Habitat for Humanity podcast, Part 2! We continue our conversation with Jim Hofmann, one of our original founders. Want to learn more about how our affiliate started? How the 1993 flood impacted our home building? How the ReStore began? Then you are in the right place! Since this is our first episode, it is a little raw and you will hear some of our technical issues, but it is still great content. Stay tuned for future episodes with more information, more interview and (hopefully) better recordings!
