In this episode, I talk about two YouTubers that I follow and admire. One is a woman who is more comfortable with writing than making videos, but she captures amazing moments on video. The other is a guy called Long Island Auditor who travels and makes YouTube videos for a living. I mention that I'm working on a training manual to help people interact better with auditors. I also discuss the importance of having the language to describe our feelings and experiences, as it helps us move forward. I share my personal experiences with mental health and the importance of establishing care with professionals who can understand and help us. I talk about how specific language and humor can improve our lives and interactions with others. Lastly, I discuss the concept of being willing and how it can positively impact our behavior and relationships with others. I encourage viewers to bring humor and positivity to their meetings and interactions with others. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/support
YouTube Description: In this episode of Parking Thought, I talk about the importance of loving others and loving yourself. I share a story about my son starting his new job and how I told him that everything he does at work is about loving others. I also talk about how I hosted a meeting that went sideways because I didn't listen well. I learned a lot from this experience, including the importance of setting myself up for success and not letting negative thoughts define me. I hope this episode encourages you to show love to others and to yourself. Here are some key takeaways from the episode: Everything we do is ultimately about loving others. When we love others, we're compassionate with where they're at in life and the challenges they may be facing. We can show love to others by listening to them, setting them up for success, and being grateful for them. It's important to love ourselves as well. This means accepting ourselves for who we are, flaws and all. We can overcome negative thoughts by remembering our value and the love that others have for us. Hey there, welcome to "Parking Thought." I'm Jacob and I'm so glad you're joining me today. This episode is going to be a little different because I'm recording it while on the road, so please excuse any background noise. Nevertheless, I'm excited to share something with you that has helped me manage my anxiety. First things first, the challenges we face in life do not define who we are. They shape our experiences, but they do not determine our identity. This is something I've been reflecting on as I talk about mental health. I don't want to be defined by my struggles, like having PTSD, for example. It is just one aspect of my life, and I refuse to let it define me. Now, let me get to the insight I want to share with you today. Lately, I've been experiencing an increase in anxiety. I've tried various techniques to understand and embrace it, but I'm still a work in progress. However, I recently had an epiphany. Just because something is uncomfortable or doesn't match my plan, it doesn't mean I'm off track with Heavenly Father's plan for me. His plan may not align perfectly with mine, and that's okay. When I face these uncomfortable and challenging moments, it doesn't mean I'm disqualified from the blessings that Heavenly Father wants to give me. It might just be another session to align myself. And let's be honest, alignment sessions are not always comfortable. So, what I want to leave you with today is this: you don't have to be perfect, and you don't have to follow your plans exactly as you intended. It's okay to feel uncomfortable or out of sync sometimes. It doesn't mean you're off track when it comes to achieving the important things in your life. Remember, in a world where you can choose to be anything, why not choose to be grateful? Thank you for joining me on this journey, and I'll catch you next time on "Parking Thought." --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/support
Welcome to Parking Thought! I'm Jacob and I'm glad you're here. Life has been a rollercoaster for me lately, and I want to share some of my experiences with you. I recently had a horrible panic attack that required medication, but I'm grateful for the scientists who developed these medications and the people who have supported me. I've also moved to a new home in Arkansas, and my neighbor has been amazing, even watering our lawn for us. My daughter initially felt down, but she quickly made friends with the neighborhood kids. During a family reunion in St. George, Utah, I learned the importance of trust. I realized that I need to trust others who can see things that I can't. Trusting in others and focusing on meaningful engagements has made a positive impact on my life. I encourage you to find mentors, trust them, and choose to be grateful. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/support

#ParkingThoughts #gratitude #liveinthemoment #helpothers I recently read an email from a co-worker who was taking some time off from work because his wife was leaving him to go to the beach. At first, I thought it was a sad situation, but then I realized that he was actually going to be spending some quality time with his toddler. This made me think about how our circumstances can change our perspective. I've also been enjoying the times when I can live in the moment and help others. For example, I helped a woman find her lost dog and I talked to a friend who was going through a divorce. These experiences have taught me that it's not always about what you do, but about being where you can help uplift others. In a world where we can choose to be anything, I choose to be grateful. I'm grateful for the people in my life, the opportunities I have, and the simple things that make me happy. I hope you'll join me in choosing gratitude! --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/support
Hey there, it's Jacob from Parking Thought and in this episode, I talk about being normal and extraordinary. We often think negative experiences are not normal, but they are part of life and help us learn and grow. It's also important to remember that our lives are not perfect like what we see on social media or TV shows. In fact, our normal today is quite extraordinary compared to history. We have access to so much information, technology, and the ability to make choices that improve humanity. So if you're having a rough day or experiencing mental health challenges, know that it's normal and okay. And as we practice being grateful for those uncomfortable moments, we become more thoughtful and better at managing our thoughts. Remember, in a world where you can choose to be anything, choose to be grateful. #normalandextraordinary #mentalhealthawareness #gratitude #positivevibes #selfcare #mindfulness #history #technology #improvement #growth --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/support

In this episode of "Parking Thought," I talk about horses and how they can teach us about treating ourselves and working with God. Horses are perfect in their own way, even if they make mistakes. Similarly, we don't have to be perfect to receive God's love. The atonement has already happened, and it's about making it count and applying the lessons from it. If we make mistakes or feel dirty, we just need to work on getting clean and working with the Savior. Let's take the time to be grateful. #Horses #Spirituality #Gratitude #Atonement #MentalHealth --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/support

In this episode of Parking Thought, I share an emotional experience I had attending a friend's baptism. I discuss the importance of nurturing those who are interested in your faith and the role of missionaries. I also touch upon a powerful scene from the New Testament where Christ washes the feet of his apostles, demonstrating the act of being a servant towards others. I emphasize the importance of being like my friend CJ, who is always willing to serve and demonstrate love towards others. I hope this message inspires you to look for little ways to serve and love those around you. #ParkingThought #friendship #baptism #missionaries #NewTestament #Christ #lovingothers #servant #grateful #feetwashing #example #inspiration #nurturing #faith #love --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/support

I talk about ways to get people aligned, how to deal with frustration when learning something new, and embracing discomfort as an opportunity for improvement. The podcast host talks about how he takes notes during church services and how it has helped him find inspiration. He shares how he started taking notes out of boredom while sitting up front with an iPad during Zoom recordings, and how he even started treating it like a college class. He talks about how he has been able to find comfort and inspiration from the notes he has taken, and how it has helped him feel closer to God. He also encourages listeners to keep a journal and document their feelings, and to not be afraid to use their own words to describe what they are going through. In this episode of Parking Thought, Jacob discusses how the news media is incentivized to report on easy-to-tell stories, like fires and political events, rather than stories that show progress and innovation. He encourages listeners to seek out news sources like Human Progress, which highlight positive developments in the world, such as a Lyme disease vaccine in development and the use of seaweed to combat climate change. Jacob reminds listeners to be grateful for the choices they have in the modern world and to consume news that complements their personal values and beliefs. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/support
This is a short and thoughtful episode of Parking Thought where the host reflects on the benefits of having deep conversations and shares an insight about asking oneself how Jesus would feel in a situation. He also shares personal news and encourages listeners to be kind to themselves and others. Automated Transcript: Hello and welcome to Parking Thought. I'm Jacob and I'm glad you're here today. I want to talk today a little bit about an insight.  A friend of mine and I have been engaged in kind of a really healthy set of gospel conversations and it's been awesome. And so we'll come up with different insights, something we've read, something we felt inspired by and we'll be able to engage one another in that. And I think everybody ought to have a friend or two that they could do that with.  Some also great news on our end. We bought a house in Arkansas so we're going to be moving out of the Idaho area. So if you're looking for a house in the Boise, Idaho area, please feel free to consider the one we have up for sale. We are looking forward to the move. There's lots of good things involved in a move. You end up cleaning out a lot of the clutter that you didn't know was in your house. You just kind of got used to it and you lived by it and you stood by it. And it's interesting when you do those deep cleans, you find things that you need to address. And the same thing's true of the repentance process, right? When you engage in those situations where you actually pause and think deeply about what it is you're doing and the opportunities you have in front of you, you can choose when you do it properly to make a commitment to be just a little bit better. And that's a good thing to have. But my friend Todd and I, so every once in a while we all exchange back and forth. And one of the things that we came up with a while ago was asking ourselves, instead of asking ourselves the question of what would Jesus do in a particular situation, we started asking ourselves the question, how would Jesus feel in this particular situation? And because we were focused on how he would feel, we found that it was much easier to do the things that he would want us to do.  And so I'd love to bring that to your attention today, short episode that it is, to ask and suggest that when you are going through situations in life that need some evaluation, that need some rethinking, or whatever it happens to be, that maybe when you're doing that, you think about how would Jesus feel about the way you were using your thoughts or your actions or something else to be able to make a difference in your attitude and your approach to a similar situation that's likely to come up again in the future. The things that matter most we get tested on a lot in life. We get tested a lot in life on being charitable to others, on being kind to others, on being good friends. Those are the lessons, those are the tests that we get throughout our life, regardless of our occupation. That's not the final on a test to graduate from whatever school that you're in. It is about the way we treat others, the way we treat ourselves. And so I hope you could be compassionate with yourself. If you really are going to apply the question of how would Jesus feel, then I would definitely recommend applying that to yourself in a way that helps you show a little more love and kindness to who you are, to the choices that you are making, and to the opportunity to do better, and the encouragement that you have to make the next best step in your life.  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/message Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/parking-thought/support
In this episode of Parking Thought, Jacob discusses the importance of small things in life and how they can make a big difference. He talks about the phrase, "what lasts the longest matters most," which encourages people to focus on what is important in life. Jacob shares an experience where he showed compassion towards a hotel staff member and how he felt connected to her. He links this experience to the idea that Christ knows and understands us and has great compassion for everyone.
