The system failed those girls and their families. The psychiatrist should have been listened to. Some people cannot be rehabilitated - he is one of those. People have been jailed for longer for less serious crimes. The system is not fit for purpose. Utterly tragic.

I wonder how many innocent people are locked up due to circumstantial evidence. If Russel hadn't been able to hire a lawyer he would be in prison now. What happens to the innocent who can't afford a lawyer? How many of those people are still in prison?

This defense attorney is sickening. The bouncer at the club did it because she flirted with him? I'm supposed to buy that when it was obvious that the accused, with a history of rape, had his DNA inside of her and was in her apartment at 1:30 in the morning at the time of her death? No dice. I guess it's her job to do that...but I know that I could never defend somebody that I knew was guilty and she knows in her heart that he's guilty. WHAT A GROSS LAWYER AND EVEN MORE GROSS CLIENT.

If you are ever called to serve on a jury, vote to acquit. They don’t care about justice. We shouldn’t validate their corruption.

Saw this on tv the other night and was so pissed at the verdict. Going to listen to the podcast of it now since the kids were playing loud during the show and I need something to listen to while doing these dishes. Can't wait to see if there is anything I missed hearing.

By the way HE WAS SO GUILTY. The jury is upset that they didn't get the evidence they wanted but the problem was that his buddies in the police department covered up for him. The one cop that didn't want to just label it a suicide and walk away from it gets harassed because of it. The turning off of the phone for 15 hours when it never gets turned off, the suicide note was one sentence ( from an anguished creative writer? whatever), the deleting of all of the texts except the one that makes it look like she's suicidal? This is why every suicide should be treated like a murderer (evidence collected, etc) until it's proven to be a suicide. THAT GUY GOT AWAY WITH MURDER.

😆😆😆 The defense attorney wants us to believe Levi, a police officer, had no idea that pinging cell towers can triangulate your location. Either the defense attorney is too stupid for words and I'd look into how he passed the bar at all, or Levi is too stupid for words and never should've been an officer. Or maybe he thinks the jury is stupid. But my 7 year old niece knows how this works just from watching YouTube videos. You really want me to believe a police officer didn't know that? 😂😂😂 You are lucky I wasn't on that jury. My eye-rolling alone would've made you forget your thoughtfully crafter lies that you call a defense. The attorney really was a douchebag too. Going after Tara as someone wanting to latch onto someone else's star and was a needy insecure woman?! Meanwhile his crappy guilty client had 10 mistresses at once. Who was the insecure SOB latching on who needed women's attention? Your client. Your super-guilry client, that's who.

The woman who was attacked and survived was not at fault in any way. the detectives didn't believe her and didn't look into the situation any further and allowed her attacked to get away and commit another crime.

I am very disappointed in the advertisement for democrats to come out of hiding in Texas. It makes Republicans sound like they are forcing people to be a certain political party. This country has more than two political parties!!! I will not be listening to Dateline anymore. The show was okay, but the advertisements are so biased!! No thanks.
