Isaiah Jackson, also known as Bitcoin Zay, is the author of “Bitcoin and Black America”, a book that explores the synergy between Bitcoin, blockchain technology and economic empowerment in black and brown communities, in particular. Isaiah is also Community Manager for Metronome and co-host of the popular YouTube show, “The Gentlemen of Crypto”, which has over 500 episodes and 20+ hours of crypto tutorials. His other work in the blockchain space includes being a member of the Digital Currency Council, a Certified Bitcoin Professional (C4 Consortium) and the owner of a Bitcoin ATM. I’m so grateful that Isaiah took the time out of his very busy schedule to chat with me during this unprecedented time as much of our nation and the world is under some form of a stay-at-home or quarantine order due to the novel coronavirus pandemic known as COVID19.   And be sure to check out Bitcoin and Black America to explore how to empower black, brown and underserved communities by incorporating cryptocurrency in your business, job and educational institution. In this episode, I welcome Andrew Hinkes, an attorney with Miami-based law firm Carlton Fields working in the firm's National Blockchain and Digital Currency practice. He is also a co-founder and the General Counsel of Athena Blockchain, a professional services firm focused on tokenized investments. We discuss what Bitcoin and blockchain are, about other cryptocurrencies including stablecoins and government issued digital fiat, and regulations and regulators in the United States and around the world, given that public, permissionless blockchains--the rails that support the issuance of many cryptographically-secured tokens of value--are borderless. We also talk about what a "crypto lawyer" is and does. Previously nominated as one of Coindesk’s Most Influential People in Blockchain in 2017, Drew is frequently quoted and cited in articles related digital assets and blockchain technology, and regularly speaks at legal, industry, and academic conferences. Drew’s areas of expertise focus on legal and business issues related to public network cryptocurrency systems, decentralized system governance, and legal and ethical issues related to cryptocurrency systems. In this episode, I welcome Technology & Lifestyle Expert Stephanie 'Tech Life Steph' Humphrey to the show. She is a former engineer-turned-media personality, the technology contributor for ABC News, and you may have seen her regular segments on the nationally-syndicated daytime show 'Strahan, Sara and Keke' and founder of Til Death Do You Tweet, an educational series she delivers to students, parents, schools and businesses. Stephanie has a long and impressive history in technology and media, but she is most passionate about helping people, especially children, to become better digital citizens. We cover exactly what that means and how to utilize technology responsibly and safely.   This episode is particularly relevant now that so many of us have transitioned to "work-from-home" status due to the COVID-19 global pandemic. So many people are now forced to leverage the Internet to work, play and connect. Stephanie helps us do so responsibility and safely.Summary:    Twitter: https://twitter.com/techlifesteph  Web: https://www.tildeathdoyoutweet.com/   Full Show Notes: https://techintersectpodcast.com/listen/  **Watch the latest Ask Me Anything (AMA) Replay** Contact: Questions and requests: hello@techintersectpodcast.com  Follow: Twitter @AtTechIntersect Instagram @TechIntersect  Web: http://www.TechIntersectPodcast.com  Subscribe to the Triple L Weekly: http://eepurl.com/gKqDyP (early episode access + info)  Want early access to episodes, exclusive content including full show notes, live video chats and replays, a copy of my e-book, The Gen Xers Guide to Upskilling for a Web 3.0 World and self-guided course of the same name? Subscribe to Advantage Evans™ Plus, Advantage Evans Premium™ or Advantage Evans Pro™ If you like my content and want to support my efforts, you can buy me a coffee and share your thoughts 🎉☕    Rapternal Music (Regulate and The Rabbit Hole) by Notty Productions is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License.
In this episode of Tech Intersect™, I have a rich and engaging conversation with Kailei Carr. She’s the CEO of The Asbury Group, LLC, and she advises executive and executive-bound women on their executive image, presence and brand. Her podcast, Beyond the Business Suit, provides insider “tips of the trade” for successful women in business and beyond. She is also the Director of the Emerge Academy, a one-year program specifically designed for women of color in technology. The future of work includes the future of leadership in a Web 3.0 world. And the executive path to the C-Suite is—like every area of business—being disrupted by technology, both in terms of increased opportunities for diverse voices and representation at the C-Suite table. You must be in a constant state of evolution to ensure preparation will meet opportunity in the new economy. Kailei reminds us about the importance of developing leadership skills—especially the importance of using one’s existing expertise to participate in the new economy that is data, innovation and technology driven. And she also reminds us that self-care, especially for women and people of color, is not a luxury; self-care is essential. And that’s why her Beyond the Business Suit Retreat is so popular and well-received and restorative. We recorded this conversation before the COVID-19 pandemic gripped the entire world. She decided, out of an abundance of caution, to reschedule the retreat. She confirmed that the TECH2020 discount for $200 off of registration will still apply when the new dates are confirmed here.  Time to LISTEN, LEARN and LEVERAGE™. She is a "light worker", tech mogul, and founder/CEO of PopCom, an automated retail company that uses artificial intelligence, blockchain and other Web 3.0 technologies to help retailers collect and leverage valuable customer insights through smart vending technology. Her ventures include Flat Out of Heels, Lifestyle Cafe, and PopCom, a software as a service company, after identifying a need to make vending machines more intelligent.Dawn reminds us in this episode that only solutions scale.  And also that who you build with is often more important than the solution. Without the right people by your side, many a great solution will die on the vine. And finally, she reminds us to have a “me first” mentality and know your power. This “me first power” isn’t selfish but self FULL. Because empty cups don’t overflow. And empty vessels certainly can’t fill others. This is a really info-rich and high energy conversation that focuses on three areas to empower founders: knowing your purpose, your people, and your POWER. So buckle up! It’s gonna be an amazing ride. In this episode of Tech Intersect, I welcome Professor Christopher K. Odinet to discuss his recent work in crypto lending and consumer data that explores the potentially discriminatory impact of artificial intelligence and machine learning on fintech lending. We talk about consumer lending, inclusion and social impact as Web 3.0 technologies like AI and machine learning usher in tech companies that act more like banks engaging in more banking-like things than pure tech companies do, especially for small unsecured consumer loans. The reason? Household debt is higher today than it has ever been in history (mortgage, car, student loans). The borrowed amounts tend to be lower even though household incomes are up. FinTech lenders are providing small dollar, short term loans to make middle American ends meet. And while some define “middle class” by income and others by lifestyle, perhaps another definition involves access to credit that often leads to a lifetime of debt. A stranglehold for most people trying to live the American dream. And huge, evergreen profits for tech companies getting into the lending business for unsecured, personal consumer loans. Questions persist, about how the law should deal with the problems these newcomers experience that might be similar to the issues that banks deal with and, because it isn’t all doom and gloom, how these tech companies might be different. Tune in and tweet me @AtTechIntersect so we can listen, learn and leverage together. Chris Odinet is an associate professor of law at the University of Oklahoma College of Law and is an affiliate faculty member with the Tom E. In this episode of the Tech Intersect™ Podcast, Tonya speaks with cybersecurity expert, and Digijaks founder and CEO, Alan W. Silberberg. Alan has a 25-year background in national politics and technology. He was even instrumental in analyzing the Democratic National Convention email hack that led to the Wikileaks release of 44,053 emails and 17,761 attachments from the top of the US DNC. He speaks and advises on the dangers of social media being used for propaganda and has written dozens of articles about weaponized information, which he also writes about in his book, Bots Against US: The Ongoing Information War Against the United States. This topic is especially relevant in this 2020 election cycle. It’s also a topic I speak about in the Elect Tech 2020 session at South by Southwest 2020 in Austin.    Every person, government and businesses is at risk of falling victim to a cyberattack. And, as Alan explains, security on the internet of things is completely non-existent. And then there’s the threat to our political system with coordinated political propaganda bots working to create instability in the US elections and the political system at large. In this episode, I chat with entrepreneur and mental health and wealth expert, Anthony Ware. Anthony’s business, Aware Catalysts, focuses on—among other things— a program called Founder Mental Wealth, which helps underestimated and underrepresented entrepreneurs to decrease burnout and improve business outcomes. His mission is to help create a world of new generational wealth: mind, body, spirit, time, and money. Anthony shares a lot of wisdom in this episode in addition to his touching origin story and also his important evolution story from his original mindset that money = stuff = happiness to a more grounded focus on how a founder’s emotional well being drives culture and that drives long-term mental and financial wins or challenges.    Mental and emotional challenges, certainly experienced by all founders, are experienced even more acutely by those who are underrepresented and marginalized. I will drop a link in the full show notes to the report Anthony and I discussed and also provide other resources to support founders in the journey toward mental health and financial freedom.    We leave you with some lifework. Make a list, make a plan, and then execute that plan by making sure you always pay yourself FIRST. In this episode, I welcome Stephanie Morillo to Tech Intersect. Stephanie, is a content strategist, writer, editor, and product manager at Microsoft. She is the author of the forthcoming book The Developer's Guide to Content Creation (January 2020), which seeks to teach program developers, and those aspiring to be a dev, how to manage their brand as they build.   So often, devs focus on the code and technology.
