This episode is sponsored by The EVOLVE Program - grab the free Unlocking Higher Purpose Series - http://unlockinghigherpurpose.com In this episode we dive into: A change agent’s mark on the world from forest conservation to hemp food producer to major global health food brand founder, to regenerative agriculture strategist, to backyard composter to activist and author as speaker and seeker of truth Nutiva founder went from selling hemp bars in the back of his car to exceeded a billion dollars in sales How governmental agencies shield the truth The state of our planet and why it’s time to suspend identifying with one side or the other How to regenerate soil and why it’s the key to changing the climate narrative Oh and so much more from a seasoned environmentalist, creator, business leader, and no taker of bullshit! About John Roulac John is a hemp innovator, serial entrepreneur, investor, philanthropist, writer, and champion of regenerative agriculture. As the 1999 founder of the organic superfoods brand Nutiva, he has sourced and formulated $1B in retail sales of organic superfoods in the past 20 years. Through his leadership, Nutiva became the fastest-growing superfoods company on the planet and was named one of Inc. magazine’s fastest-growing companies in America for seven years in a row. He is also an executive producer of the Netflix blockbuster regenerative agriculture film Kiss the Ground, which is narrated by Woody Harrelson. John was blessed to spend his childhood summers on the islands of the Pacific Northwest, where he played among the forests and tide pools. When nuclear waste was dumped nine miles from his California home, John’s ecological awareness was awakened. He began his central life journey: to study natural systems and discover practical solutions to pressing environmental challenges. Over his career, John has founded six non-profit organizations, including Great Plains Regeneration, Agroforestry Regeneration Communities (creating regenerative food forests), and Forests Forever which placed the California Forest Protection Act, Prop 130, on the California state ballot in 1990. His passionate hemp advocacy brought him to sue the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. This long legal battle culminated in a historic 2004 federal court victory to keep hemp foods legal. He is a pioneer of the modern home-composting movement and has authored four books on hemp and composting that have combined sales of more than one million copies. He has been interviewed on numerous radio and television programs and has been widely quoted in the print media—from Wired magazine to the Los Angeles Times and the Wall Street Journal. In his leisure time, John enjoys travel, hiking, playing basketball, and soaking in natural hot springs. This Episode offers a reflective exercise potent for Solstice, endings and new beginnings.  Stephanie explores a process for tackling our own peak wellness, upleveling and avoiding a bypass. She dives into the first step in her process, INVENTORY, what it means, how to do it, why to do it and what if we don't do it. She shares a personal example of how her life was recently impacted, what inventory looked like including taking ENERGETIC RESPONSIBILITY and how to contribute to the collective wellness on our planet right now from the inside out. About Stephanie Trager I’m Stephanie, host of this podcast, an Earthkeeper, a catalyst to catalysts, business alchemist and evolutionary coach. I’m a speaker, impact strategist, and attorney with a massive love for trees. Since a young age I’ve been aware of the multi-dimensional realities co-existing in time which meant psychic intuitive gifts were present along with challenges of knowing a world no-one around me could explain. There was a time when my linear world of NYC cut throat law and corporate decision making cut me off from myself- the healer, see’er, feeler, and passionate wisdom seeker. In seeking my truth and to understand my gifts, I immersed in decades of off the beaten path experiences… living and studying with indigenous communities, living off the grid, learning from wild experiences like being chased up close by a mother bear, being face to face with mountain lions- alone in the woods, working on the front lines of environmental justice, standing with a shotgun to my face, running from an angry logger (who killed my friend) with a chainsaw up a steep mountain slope… Twenty years a martial artist deep diving in danger zones in Brazil, being healed of a severe brain injury by a Shuar Shaman in the Ecuadorian Amazon, co-founding a corporate responsibility law firm in the 1990’s, coaching superstar change agents for 15+ years in everything from peak wellness, higher purpose, leadership and sustainability (before it was a thing), to business and negotiations, plus holding space as a healer in the domain of the Soul… This journey has shown me one common thing, the key to understanding who we truly are is connecting with nature. We are nature. I’m here to connect people to who they really are so they can do what they’re really here to do. I work with individuals and organizations in bespoke coaching programs, shamanic energy medicine sessions, evolutionary impact and business strategy, program development, consulting, keynote speaking, workshops, and in retreats and expeditions and am constantly creating juicy content and modalities to help my clients transform at the deepest core level and to navigate and transcend these intense times so they can align and thrive from the inside and out. I’ve spent years working in impact investing, environmental justice & human rights advocacy, had a former career in corporate litigation. Human evolution, business, human rights and environmental respect are my passions. I believe we can create a thriving economy based on reciprocity, social and environmental justice. It begins with our remembering who we really are. Rosolie’s memoir on Amazonian wildlife and exploration, “Mother of God”, was hailed as “gripping” by Jane Goodall, and the Wall Street Journal applauded Rosolie’s environmental call-to-arms for its ‘rare immediacy and depth’. In 2013 Rosolie spoke at the United Nations global Forum on Forests while accepting an award for his Amazonian wildlife short-film ‘An Unseen World”. He is the co-founder of Junglekeepers Peru an organization that focuses on protecting threatened habitat in western Amazonia. To date, Junglekeepers protects over 55,000 acres of primary forest Junglekeepers conserves threatened habitat in the vitally important Madre de Dios region of the Peruvian Amazon. The Las Piedras watershed is part of the Andes/Amazon hotspot—one of the most biodiverse and pristine areas on earth. This forest is home to tens of millions of trees, numerous indigenous communities, and untold numbers of animal heartbeats. In recent decades new roads, illegal logging, poaching, and gold mining have begun to seriously degrade the ancient forest that is the source of life in this region. Junglekeepers Rangers patrol and safeguard almost 30,000 acres of this incredible landscape. It is central to the Junglekeepers ethos to employ and train local and indigenous community members in the active protection of land that is ultimately theirs. Forest Rangers monitor our concessions, maintain trails and report any illegal activity occurring on the land being monitored. Rangers also track wildlife to contribute to broader scientific datasets in the region. For local Peruvians, our Ranger Program also offers an employment alternative to protect the land rather than being forced to participate in harmful activity due to economic pressure. Our current and past rangers tell us this work is a great source of pride as it empowers them in the stewardship of their homeland. In this episode we discuss healing from addiction the wholistic way, root causes, underlying issues, interconnectivity, passion and purpose, how to navigate these intense uncomfortable times, epigenetics, shamanism and expanding consciousness, beliefs and their power, and how to transform and choose to do what you’re here to do right now.  Dean Taraborelli, Founder, Administrator, Counselor at the Sanctuary at Sedona.  Founder of the Sanctuary at Sedona, Dean is also currently Senior teaching staff at Four Winds Society, an international school of energy medicine. His credentials also include being an Ordained Minister; a Certified Shamanic Breathwork® Facilitator; a Founding Member Society for Shamanic Practitioners; a Member of Association for Comprehensive Energy Psychology; a Member of National Institute for Holistic Addiction Studies. In battling his substance abuse problem, Dean gained real expertise in being on the treatment side of rehab centers. He was a patient at many well-regarded addiction treatment institutions in the country, some more than once. He has be in over 10 inpatient drug rehabilitation centers, participated in several inpatient extended care programs, numerous outpatient and intensive outpatient programs, years of private therapy, support groups, 12-step programs, several detox programs, and numerous medication protocols.  While many of these worked temporarily on the symptoms of the problem, he was unable to achieve any real sustainable change. As conventional therapies and approaches failed, he expanded his search worldwide to learn about mental health and recovery approaches. Dean has traveled extensively to sacred sites in over 60 countries to study holistic health, world mythology, religion, spirituality, wisdom traditions, and indigenous healing and wellness practices. “My real shift came when I was a patient at yet another treatment center where I was reminded again of the definition of insanity, which is doing the same thing and expecting a different result. This is commonly used to describe the cycle of addictive behavior. It occurred to me that this should also apply to the treatment of addiction as well.  It is insane to keep treating this issue the same way and expecting a different result, which I had done for 20 years in treatment and therapy. I wanted o get well, so I paid very close attention in treatment and realized that I wasn’t the only one who wasn’t getting better. Most of the people I went to treatment with were not getting better either. I knew in that moment, that all of my years in treatment and my search for my own freedom from addiction wasn’t a waste. It was my training. My life purpose was to create a treatment process that actually worked by truly addressing the underlying issues of addiction, anxiety, and depression. This model needed to be holistic or it most likely wouldn’t work. The rest is history. When I created The Sanctuary 16 years ago, we were the only holistic treatment model available.  Now, the term holistic and integrative is common in addiction and mental health treatment. We were the pioneers then and still the pioneers today. It is not enough to add some holistic components to a treatment program, they need to be integrated to work. The Sanctuary remains the pioneer in holistic mental health treatment because we are always researching the latest in neuroscience and therapeutic processes.”  Find Dean and the Sanctuary at Sedona:  https://www.sanctuary.net/  https://www.instagram.com/sanctuary_at_sedona/ Contact Stephanie Trager at www.stephanietrager.com --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/catalyst-talks/message

Steven Donziger is a renowned advocate, writer, and public speaker with a focus on addressing human rights abuses and corporate malfeasance.  He is part of the team working with indigenous and farmer communities in an area of the Ecuadorian Amazon rainforest suffering from high cancer rates and other health ailments related to the massive oil pollution caused by Texaco, now owned by Chevron. In 2011, the affected communities won a historic $9.5 billon judgment against Chevron for the environmental cleanup of what experts consider to be one of the worst oil-related catastrophes in the world. Known for his “Herculean tenacity” (Business Week), Steven has represented the affected communities since first visiting the region in 1993. Steven also founded Project Due Process, a legal advocacy group for Cuban detainees who arrived in the United States in the Mariel boatlift. He is the former director of the non-partisan National Criminal Justice Commission that in 1996 produced the landmark study, The Real War On Crime, published as a book by HarperPerennial. Steven’s analysis and commentary on human rights, environmental, and criminal justice matters has been featured in numerous legal publications, academic journals, and news outlets.  He is the former chief correspondent for United Press International in Nicaragua, where he reported for a variety of publications during the U.S.-backed contra war. After graduating from Harvard Law School in 1991, Steven worked as a trial attorney for the District of Columbia Public Defender Service. He currently serves on the Board of Advisors to the Fortune Society, the largest self-help organization for ex-offenders in the United States. In 1991, Steven led a mission to Iraq of lawyers, public health specialists, and military experts to assess the impact on civilians of the bombing during the first Gulf War.  The group’s report, which found that an estimated 100,000 children would die following the cessation of hostilities because of damage to the Iraqi health care infrastructure, was adopted by the United Nations and attracted coverage in more than 400 newspaper and media outlets throughout the world. Steven lives in New York City with his wife and son.
