Description

The Vanity Prodcast is hosted by Scott, a guy who's actually getting into the podcast game after "thinking about it" for far too long. Since he's finally deciding to do this for himself, he's jokingly (well, maybe half-jokingly) calling it his vanity project. And it's a podcast. You get it now, right?

On the show, Scott will talk about, well... whatever he happens to feel like talking about that day. Primarily based on pop culture and societal observation, he'll also have some cool guests, just for good measure.

Oh, hi. It's been a while.  Let's get reacquainted, shall we? In this episode, Scott gives a quick life update... shares his thoughts on some social media trends... and talks about a friend/mentor that he lost over the last year.
In the episode, Scott talks with musician Greg Holden. The two dive into his move to the states from the UK, his start into music, as well as his latest album “World War Me.” While his name may not be that of a household variety yet, his work definitely is.  Greg's music has been featured in the television shows Private Practice, One Tree Hill, and Sons of Anarchy.  He also cowrote and produced the song during the closing credits of Bill & Ted Face the Music. Greg also wrote the coronation song "Home" for American Idol season 11 winner Phillip Phillips; the single went on to sell over 5 million copies in the United States and become the best-selling coronation song by any Idol alum. Scott and Greg chat about Greg's current work, songwriting during a global pandemic, what it's like being signed to - and subsequently dropped by - a major record label, and the surreal moment of standing in an arena while a sold-out crowd sings your song. They also tackle where he sees his career heading next... and, of course,  aliens. In this episode, Scott welcomes Dr. Joyce Sanchez - a board certified infectious disease specialist. Scott and Dr. Sanchez dive into the widespread misinformation about COVID-19, the importance of wearing a face covering, and how an individual can make the best personal choices about their health and activity in this uncertain time. Dr. Sanchez began her career at the Mayo Clinic in Minnesota in 2014, then joined Froedtert and the Medical College of Wisconsin as an Assistant Professor of Medicine in 2017; she is director of the Travel Health Clinic.  She is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, where she stayed to complete her internal medicine residency. She received clinical training in infectious diseases at Stanford University and completed her fellowship at the University of Minnesota. On this episode, Scott addresses the issue that's on almost everyone's mind right now - police brutality and racism in America. Scott is joined by his friend and neighbor Kerry; the pair discuss Kerry's first hand experience growing up with racism in his native New York City.  The duo will also discuss how so many people aren't properly informed on what certain protest statements stand for, plus how people are impacted every day by racism.   A warning: there's language explaining/pertaining to racism and bigoted behavior contained in this episode.
In this episode, Scott was able to sit down with the brain behind Filter, the one and only Richard Patrick. They chat about what's coming next for Filter, his work with TV and film scoring, and the divisiveness in the United States right now.  This year also marks the 25th anniversary of Filter's debut album Short Bus, so they obviously covered that, too! PLUS! Scott gets some exclusive details about the potential future of Army of Anyone - the project that also features Robert and Dean DeLeo (of Stone Temple Pilots) and Ray Luzier (of KoRn.) Being fully transparent, Mike is the therapist at ASDI that Scott has seen since 2017 - and credits him towards a better understanding and approach to dealing with anxiety.  In a time where mental health is becoming more and more destigmatized, Scott and Mike discuss the suggested steps towards finding the right therapist for you.   Also, given the current health situation in the United States due to COVID-19, Mike explains how telehealth has taken a more prominent role in meeting with and treating patients. Lucky episode 13. On this episode, Scott is joined (via Skype, of course) by his friend Mike - someone who was recently met with a COVID-19 diagnosis.   Mike talks about the experience of a "drive-thru" style test and how quickly he got his results - and what lead him to seeking out a test in the first place. Not limited to just diagnosis discussion, the duo also chat about what it's like for Mike as a working musician during these uncertain times.  Plus, Mike observes how his wife (a professional educator) is having to make changes to how she does her job during these days of telework. Oh, and they also mention the ongoing shades of orange that the President seems to rotate through. To check out Mike's music, please visit: https://mikenewberrymedia.com.
In this episode, Scott chats with Katie Fitz - best described as a runner on a mission to bring you easy meal prep, realistic training, and positive affirmations. Since launching her website FitzRunner.com a year ago, Katie has trained for three marathons, started developing a product line, and has run in Switzerland, Mexico, Germany, and France.  That's a busy year! Scott and Katie discuss the best ways to get started on your own fitness journey, how to stay active during these crazy "stay inside/everything is closed" times, and... what happens when you build your own instruction-less spin bike that ends up with leftover parts. In addition to her website, you can follow Katie on Instagram here: https://www.instagram.com/fitzrunner
Welp... here we are. In this episode, Scott and Josh talk about everything that's been going on regarding public health... and how people are kind of reacting like idiots.  It's pretty much an unprecedented time in our lifetimes, but there's things we can do to be smart about it. Also, will the fallout from the "social distancing" change the entertainment industry?  Some movie studios have talked about releasing first run, theatrical movies to be available for home streaming rental.  Would you forgo the theatre experience if you were able to get brand new movies at home? But we also have to mention... Tom Brady is leaving New England?!
In this episode, Scott and Josh discuss the coronavirus which just showed up here in Maryland.  So that's fun. After they washed their hands and stop touching their faces, the pair discuss concert etiquette - are you "allowed" to stand up at a show if no one else around you is? Follow along with the show on Twitter here: https://twitter.com/vanityprodcast
On this episode, Scott chats with actor Johnathon Schaech - you likely know Johnathon from his roles in "DC's Legends of Tomorrow," "Prom Night," and "That Thing You Do!" Scott and John discuss the current culture in Hollywood, John's upcoming projects, and (of course) look back on the classic Tom Hanks directed film "That Thing You Do!" Johnathon's new movie "The Night Clerk" comes on February 21st; it also stars Tye Sheridan, Ana de Armas, Helen Hunt, and John Leguizamo.
Scott is joined by Josh once again to discuss why so many people claimed to be offended by the Superbowl Halftime Show - and seemingly everything else. Plus, when people ask for advice or feedback, do they really want you to be honest? Finally... what the hell was up with the Rush Hour Renegades on Full House?  Spoiler alert - radio isn't like this.
In this episode, Scott talks with Dave Elkins of the band MAE.  If you're a musician, producer, or songwriter, this episode is for you. Scott and Dave dive into the musical creative process, the challenges and rewards of wearing many hats in a musical setting, and Dave's approach to working with bands/artists at his personal recording space, Schematic Studios. Scott's band Letterbox visited Dave's studio in Nashville during the summer of 2018; they discuss that experience and the song in which the sessions yielded.
In the episode, Scott is joined by his friend Josh to discuss what it's like to "define the relationship" from the male perspective.  Are you clingy if you ask?  Are you indifferent if you DON'T ask?  It's 2020, let's figure out what the deal is. Also, Josh likes Nickelback.  Scott has some things to say about that.
In this episode, Scott is joined by Francesca who isn't too happy that Scott claims the podcast as his own. Once THAT gets resolved (sort of) they then talk about what Scott refers to as "The Great Doughnut Caper." And yes, it's a true story that involves doughnuts, the police, and running around like an idiot.
In this episode, Scott chats with Emily Hampshire from the hit TV series "Schitt's Creek" - and the pair try to determine if Scott's neighbor is a murderer OR if they just watch too many crime shows.
In this episode, Scott is joined by (another) friend/coworker, Josh. Scott wanted to know if making a resolution for January 1st makes sense, if social media is subconsciously bringing you down, and why Josh loves cigarettes... but quit anyway.
In this episode, Scott and his coworker/friend Francesca talk about the etiquette of holiday time at work, Francesca teaching her boyfriend how to buy gifts for her... and how Francesca thinks she'll pick better gifts for Scott's wife than he will.
