It's always amazing to talk to someone who is starting their brave journey into becoming a recording artist. Everything is new, everything is fresh and the ambition is full. Today we talk to friend of the show Jon Lodge about his giant leap into recorded music.

In this episode, we talk to Toronto indie band MONOWHALES.Fuelled by a passionate desire to create a sound as unapologetic and powerful as the personalities within the band, pop-infused indie rock quartet MONOWHALES have taken the experiences gained fighting their way up the ranks of Toronto’s highly competitive music scene. You can find them setting fire to every stage in the Greater Toronto Area and across the country. You can also find them heavily featured on the new smash NETFLIX series “SPINNING OUT” where the band's music can be heard and the band themselves make a cameo. They are turning heads everywhere they go and the sky really is the limit for them. I can honestly say that I’ve never talked about K-OS and Marshall McCluhan in the same conversation, but I’m glad we went there!

Let me introduce you to your new favourite band - Halifax indie band BEAUTS.Beauts are a band from Halifax who play rock songs that are scrappy and melodic. Sacrificing chops for gusto, Beauts' songs are full of bittersweet hooks and shout-along choruses.Band members:Darryl SmithPalmer JamiesonJoel Waddell - DrummerErik Van LunenJeff Lawton - VocalsWith the recent focus being on a more mellow and melodic approach, the band have prevailed in their search for nuanced and dynamic songs that still make you want to move. It’s evident from releases like “Good Measure” and “Drifters, All” that the band are locked into finding great new layers to their sonic landscapes and discovering innovative ways to more subtly execute their hooks. On December 30th 0f 2019, BEAUTS were included on CBC’s "25 Canadian albums to look forward to in 2020” in the company of acts like ALANIS MORRISETTE, SARAH HARMER, GRIMES, THE WEEKND, JESSIE REYEZ and QUIET PARADE We caught up with Darryl Smith from the band

We are joined by one of Canada's most talented singer/songwriters - SKYE WALLACE. We chat about her incredible journey gathering stories across Canada and her stellar 4 albums including her self-titled release from last year. It was an insightful and fun experience to talk to her and she was kind enough to take time out of her day in-studio to talk about some of our favourite Canadians, her unique songwriting and just about everything else.

We chat with Canadian Indie Rock band BIRDS OF BELLWOODS. We talk about the great music industry we have here in Canada, FACTOR grants, working with JACK EMBLEM and the importance of a great last name. We also feature songs from their acclaimed debut LP "VICTORIA".
