He founded Digivoice.io, a voice agency and recently joined Beyto Agency as the CTO.We discuss how Daniel got involved in voice and how he has gone from building his first voice experience (Stream Player which has been very successful) to many more including his latest which lets you book movie tickets using voice!We both agree that Star Trek had a lot to do with us working in technology and our interest in voice!We discuss Daniel creating his own voice agency, Digivoice. In this episode, Roger talks with Nick Schwab. Nick is very well known for his Sleep Sounds voice experiences and is the founder and CEO of Sleep Jar/Invoked Apps.We talk about Nick's early adventures with voice and how a noisy upstairs neighbor lead him to create sleep sounds for his personal use. In this episode, Roger talks with Carl Robinson. Carl is the CEO of Rumble Studio, an innovative new tool for recording podcasts and audio content. Carl is also well known as the host of the Voice Tech Podcast and creator of VoiceTechPodcast.comWe discuss how Carl got involved in podcasting and what he has learned 70+ podcasts in. Carl gives some very valuable advice for both beginning podcasters and more experienced podcasters.We then discuss Rumble Studio, the innovative new way to record podcasts and other audio content. Using Rumble Studio, the questions and answers (host and guest) can be recorded asynchronously. This podcast was recorded using Rumble Studio and I recorded all of the questions from my home office in Walnut Creek, California at my leisure. Carl recorded his answers from Paris, France at his leisure. Rumble studio takes care of the logistics and then stitching everything together at the end. It's truly a different way of creating audio content like podcasts.We discuss the high costs/effort required to create quality audio content and how Rumble Studio was created to alleviate this problem. We also discuss how Rumble Studio unlocks creating short-form audio which can be recombined into new content and the exciting possibilities for web search engines to index audio content.We finish by discussing the state of the voice industry. What is working right now and what needs improvement. Matchbox has created some of the most successful voice experiences including Question of the Day, Riddle of the Day, Three Questions, and Kids Quiz. Late last year, Matchbox acquired Opearlo which added Find My Phone, Guess my name, and several other successful skills to their portfolio.We discuss the founding of Matchbox and how it has grown. Sarah shares that one of the keys to Matchbox's success is a focus on content. 70% of the Matchbox employees work on content!Sarah has a background as a professional flutist and music teacher. We discuss music and voice and how the intersection between the two is a huge opportunity right now.Sarah talks extensively about what has driven success at Matchbox. A relentless focus on great content and listening to users has driven retention. A marketing mindset and the willingness to experiment, fail, and learn from failures has lead to acquisition. Show Notes:In this episode, I talk with Rachel Batish of Audioburst. Audioburst is reinventing the podcast and audio industry by providing searchable audio. One can search the actual audio of podcasts and listen to snippets of a podcast using Audioburst.Rachel talks about getting a start with voice as a co-founder of Conversation.one. Conversation.one was a build once, deploy everywhere voice experience tool which specialized in the financial services industry.In 2018, Rachel joined Audioburst and leads the product team there. Audioburst indexes millions of pieces of audio content and then allows a user to search the audio. As an Audioburst user, I can search for content, listen to a snippet of the search results, create personalized playlists, and in the end discover more audio content that intrigues me.As a podcaster, Audioburst creators lets a podcaster edit the AI-generated snippets, edit keywords and create Audiograms for sharing on social media.We talk about the challenges with podcasting today and how Audioburst enables end-user discovery which is a huge challenge today.Rachel wrote a book about conversational design, Voicebot and Chatbot Design which provides design guidance for building a successful conversational experience.
