It was difficult to come to a country where she was not able to start working in her field right away. Stacey shared what she did to overcome the professional and personal challenges during her immigration journey.  She leaves us amazing words of encouragement on how to keep going even when you feel that you want to quit. Don't miss out on this amazing conversation, where you will learn about her business and how she supports immigrants applying for visas and filling out complicated paperwork. To connect with Stacey: https://www.familyfirstis.com/To connect with us at Modern Immigrant: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/modernimmigrant/Shop our merch: https://www.modernimmigrant.net/shopConnect: https://www.modernimmigrant.net/ Youtube: https://youtu.be/IQT32UNwz2ESupport the show
Have you ever felt like you don't have a "home" where to go to?Veena is our guest of the week and we explored her multiple immigration journeys. From being born in the USA to moving to Canada, then living in India (where her family is from), exploring life in Africa, England, and currently in Costa Rica.Veena talks about the complexity of the immigrant identity and how our parent's immigration journey can influence us so much. Something that truly inspired me about this conversation is the concept of the privilege that immigration can bring. Especially for those that have chosen to emigrate. Learning, being aware, and identifying our privileges as immigrants will make an impact on the way we treat others. Immigration will change us and in this beautiful conversation, we talked about the multiple ways in which we transform and grow as we learn from other cultures. To buy Veena's Book Our Mothers, Ourselves:https://a.co/d/1eAqdGFTo connect with us at Modern Immigrant: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/modernimmigrant/Shop our merch: https://www.modernimmigrant.net/shopConnect: https://www.modernimmigrant.net/Youtube: https://youtu.be/GNYXo6g1wQMSupport the show
