The Cool Dicuss Team just wanted to thank everyone for podding in and staying with us this far! We've really enjoyed doing these shows and look forward to what else we can, and will do with Trekily. At the moment we're likely going to be doing a series of episodes on all the various star ships we've seen on the Star Trek and then eventually doing discussions on all the characters from every series! Unfortunately due to the ongoing situation in the world we've decided to put our recordings on hold for now. We are doing this so we can practice proper social distancing and adhere to the advice given to us by the health professionals who are working tirelessly to combat the ongoing pandemic that is currently sweeping the globe.Trekily will be back! But it will return when we feel the time is right!Until then we hope you've enjoyed our reviews and analysis of Star Trek Picard and look forward to providing you with new content in the future!Remember to be kind to one another and stay safe!AWC
We get some very sweet and touching moments in the Star Trek Picard Season 1 finale and even explore the concept of an Android deciding the experience the ultimate human experience of death. What does it mean to be human and to be real? How can one trust others when they are in constant fear of being hunted and destroyed? For all the good moments we do get in the Picard finale however, we also get a lot of missed opportunities for the season overall as it ends with another end of the Galaxy barely averted trope. It feels like instead of dealing with many issues that could have been explored such as the fallout from the Romulan relocations, the greater consequences of the Synth ban and un-ban as well as the xBs , we get another over the top evil villain defeated at the last moment story. We get a few MacGuffins, predictable moments and a death fake-out.Syd and Alvin talk about what they liked, didn't like, what they had hoped for and the roads not taken in our final Star Trek Picard review!------------------------Trekily theme is Gravity by Stanley Gurvich found on ArtlistPodcasting services through SpreakerAll audio clips related to Star Trek are owned by CBS Corporation and are used within Fair Use Laws. Star Trek Picard's Broken Pieces is a decent episode that doesn't break apart despite some continuing plot conveniences. Soji continues to explore who she is while we get a deeper look into Rio's past. We also get a stronger story on the borg cube as Seven of Nine returns to help Elnor. When devastating truths behind the Mars attack are revealed, Picard realizes just how far many will go to preserve secrets stretching back generations, all while the La Sirena crew grapples with secrets and revelations of their own. Narissa directs her guards to capture Elnor, setting off an unexpected chain of events on the Borg cube.Trekily theme is Gravity by Stanley Gurvich found on ArtlistPodcasting services through SpreakerAll audio clips related to Star Trek are owned by CBS Corporation and are used within Fair Use Laws. When they learn that Maddox has found himself in a precarious situation, a familiar face offers her assistance.Spoilers Ahead!!! Stardust City Rag is a tonally unbalanced episode that tries to offset an overly dark atmosphere with heist like comedy.
