There are so many different communities on Tik Tok, you have the home decor Tik Tok, the comedian Tik Tok, bourbon Tik Tok, and even Christian Tik Tok. What you don't always see is a strong mixture of two, typically opposite, mixed together. On this episode of Ministry IRL, I get to talk with pastor Alex Pasiecznik, also as @bibleandbourbon on Tik Tok, from Freedom church in South Carolina. Pastor Alex is very open about the fact that he loves Jesus as well as enjoys a good glass of bourbon. Join us as we get to hear his story, as well as talk about navigating the waters of being open about what he enjoys while also walking with Jesus.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support
I have the wonderful opportunity to speak with Brad Ketch on this week's episode of Ministry IRL. Brad is from Portland and has personally experienced the decline and rebirth of the Rockwood area. He has served as CEO and CFO of a publicly-traded company. In 2012 Brad founded the Community Development Corporation of Oregon, which currently does business as the Rockwood CDC. We talk a lot about what it looks like to be in business while also believing in Jesus and ministering to people. I love how Brad lives in the tension of both business and ministry and is working towards creative ways to bless and grow the community of Rockwood. If you want to learn more about what he is doing check out rockwoodcdc.org --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support
Pastor Kirk is such a good friend, and we really enjoy talking together about all things life and ministry. We both really enjoy getting excited about what Jesus is doing in our churches and communities, but we also enjoy a good laugh and making fun of ourselves. In this episode, we share with each other different ways that we each get ready for preaching. We talk about what in life has brought us to this point and what different things are important to each of us when it comes to how we preach. I love pastor Kirk's honest approach, and how he is able to share different times when his preaching has gone well, and others when... well it could have used improvement. I hope you enjoy listening to him as much as I do on this week's episode of Ministry IRL.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support

Daniel Lanning is a long-standing friend and has been on the show a few times already. Daniel is the assistant pastor at Springfield Faith Center and has a wealth of knowledge about the Bible and the life of Jesus. Daniel loves Jesus and loves telling people about Jesus. As we talk about Jesus IRL it would only make sense to talk about how Jesus loves you and me in this present tense by looking at how He loved others in the past tense. Join us as we talk about Jesus IRL.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support
It's always funny to admit that I am a 40yr old man who enjoys watching TikTok, but I love seeing the Christian community representing the love of Jesus on every social media platform. Carollynn Martin also known as Carollynn the Christian, is an amazingly funny comedian and I have the joy of having her on the show. Her skits online are hilarious and she does a great job at making you laugh while also challenging and encouraging others through her platform. Join us in this episode as we get to hear her story about finding Jesus, laugh at her great jokes, and get encouraged. It's true what the Bible says, laughter is good medicine! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support
I finally get to have my friend pastor Chris Zauner join me on the show. A man who I greatly respect and love as a dear friend. We talk a little about how Chris and I know each other and the start of his journey to being a pastor and church planter. We also talk about how Jesus is there when things seem impossible, and also how He is there for those who seem impossible. Season 2 of Ministry IRL and I am so excited to start this season off with my good friend Matt Ramirez. This season we are going to talk about Jesus in real life, and in this episode, Matt and I discuss Jesus and His compassion and how that has influenced our own lives. I have been blessed to have met a lot of people in my life, and Peyton Harris is one of the people that I have never forgotten. As a missionary and a temporary Bible teacher in my small high school in Kazakhstan, he had a great impact on my life. Peyton Harris has ministered in many different places around the world and continues to reach international people while now living in the US. I love his heart for people, and he has a lot of great stories about how God has revealed his plan for him and his family throughout the years. Join us in this episode as we get to see how prayer is such a big part of Peyton following the journey that God designed for him.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support
Life is full of twists and turns and sometimes you get to reconnect with people from your past. Grace Khoma and I both grew up in Kazakhstan and she knew my sister really well. Recently Grace has been posting some great thoughts and feelings about worship on social media and it really caught my attention, I reached out to her and her husband Viktor Khoma to come on the show and talk about their view of worship ministry. I love how much international culture has affected their views and opinions. We talk about life, ministry, worship, and family on this episode of Ministry IRL.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support
Being a husband and a father, working a 9 to 5 job, and doing youth ministry at the same time. Not to mention his wife is in ministry as well. Shayna Minder is the children's director at Springfield Faith Center and has a passion to see kids know and experience the love of Jesus. She is an amazing woman, director, wife, and mother. My good friend Tina Weiss has persued ministry as a career for a long time and has been involved in well-known ministries. Today though she is not on the main stage of the church, she is in the lives of people around her in her job. Tina loves people, and she taught me a lot about how to love people well and love people as Jesus loves them. In this episode, she shares with us her journey and how God has used what she has learned from ministry to minister to those in her job. Just because you are in a more corporate job does not mean that Jesus is not using you in the lives of those around you, and Tina exemplifies this so well. She really is tweiss_as_nice!  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support

No don't worry, we aren't talking bad about our neighbors. In fact, it's quite the opposite. My brother, Daniel Weed, and I have had a lot of experience living across the street from a lot of different people, in a lot of different cultures. We have been blessed by them, and love getting to know people. In this episode, we talk together about our different experiences and how being in ministry,  and missionary kids have affected our perspective on our neighbors.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support

Carlos Whittaker is one of my favorite bloggers, social media presences, and authors. He has been dealing hope to people for a long time, and now he writes books and talks about them. If you haven't had a chance to read Enter Wild, check it out today. I had the joy of talking to Carlos about his life in ministry, his Instagram community, and most importantly about what God has done in his life.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support
Pastor Matt Ramirez is a very good and old friend. We have done ministry in the past together, and man that was a long time ago. Pastor Matt has grown from the early days of his ministry where he really experienced the power of the holy spirit. He has always had a passion for evangelism and has had experience as a senior pastor. He did learn though that being a senior pastor isn't what God was calling him to do. Join us as we hear more of pastor Matt's story. I hope you are encouraged by this wonderful man of God. Check him out on Youtube, and Facebook. If you want a speaker with the power of the Holy Spirit, by all means, please invite him to your church.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support

Episode 023 - Language

Episode 023 - Language

2020-07-0316:49

Words are important! This week on Ministry IRL we talk about language and how important it is how we communicate with each other. When it comes to ministry there are a lot of outdated words that we use, but still hold a lot of important meaning to what we believe. Talking to other generations, or even other cultures can be really difficult. Let's talk about how not only are words important, but we need to communicate well in order to represent Jesus well.  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support
This week on Ministry IRL we talk about dads, specifically my dad. I grew up as a pastor’s kid as well as a missionary kid. It wasn’t always great, but the things God did through my dad were impactful. Check him out here: John Weed  --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/ministry-irl/support
