Hey Squad! We had our kick-off call as a TRIBE last Monday and I am excited!Y'all should see the dope bosses that are part of the sisterhood of high-achieving women who are kicking procrastination and imposter syndrome to the curb to walk in their God-given purpose! If you haven't joined A Tribe Called Purpose™, please do. It is your kind of membership if you want to get out of the overwhelm, get ahead of your day and start walking in your purpose! On today's episode...I decided to do an episode on this is because it is a misconception that I held for a long time. This very pervasiveness concept that I held, and I find when I talk to women - especially Christian women of color - is that we are not allowed to desire things. I thought that this was based on Bible verses I had heard over the years.  This could not be further from the truth of the word of God.I thought that I was just supposed to sit around and God would somehow make all the decisions for me and I forgot to move in my life.I know that you guys have probably had similar thoughts. Like, what do I want? I'm I allowed to want stuff? And the answer is yes. I want to convince you of that today. That you are allowed to want stuff. Then, I want you to start spending some time thinking about what you want and putting it on paper, writing about what you want.So writing the vision and making it plain. In this episode, I discuss:The power of messy first stepsOrdered stepsMentioned in this episode:Episode 001: Profiles in PurposeEpisode 002: Profiles in Purpose (Part 2)Dear God by Bunmi Laditan*********************************************************************************************************Join A Tribe Called Purpose™ NOW to become a Founding Member as a:Gold Member: $47/mPlatinum Member: $127/m*********************************************************************************************************This week's podcast episode is sponsored by my freebie: The Procrastinators Guide to Starting a Business.Want to take the first step to overcome procrastination? So things like worry, not accepting compliments, etc.Today, I want to share with you how you can Push Through your Upper Limit. However, I will say that you will always have an Upper Limit Problem. Meaning, your unconscious mind will always try to limit you from opening yourself up completely to joy success, and happiness. It's a constant thing you're going to have to consistently work on. You can push past that Upper Limit. It does not have to define you. It does not have to be there forever. You can overcome this!In this episode, I discuss the 6 ways to consistently push through the Upper Limit by:Becoming aware without judgmentIncreasing your capacity for joyAccepting compliments with a single Thank YouKeeping the promises you make to yourselfPracticing gratitudeHaving accountability in your lifeMentioned in this episode:Episode 000-Welcome to the POP Podcast!Episode 003: The POP PrinciplesBONUS! We are at 10,000+ downloads y'all! (When I was recording the episode, we hadn't hit 10,000.)God is so good and y'all are so dope! I would love to share your voice and your story of how the podcast has impacted you in a future episode.Let's get into it...So today's episode - this is a heavy one and - I am actually going to have to break this up into several episodes because it's a lot to digest. These may be new concepts that you've never heard or considered before, but I want to submit to you that when I say them, you're going to be familiar with them because this is what's likely happening in your life. Not likely - this is what's happening in your life. And it's just about putting a name to it.!We are going to talk about your Upper Limit and how to break through it.Because of a conversation I heard between my mom and dad when I was a little girl, I have a fundamental limiting belief that I'm flawed in some way.Squad, I used to keep a list of all the things that were wrong with me and I would look in the mirror and recite them every day to myself. When I think of that little girl, I feel this wave of sadness and I want to fight for her. When you start to become aware of your limiting beliefs and not just your limiting beliefs, but your limiting habits that are sabotaging your true success in terms of walking in your purpose - when you fully get a grasp of that and start to understand how you can pull yourself out of it...It's going to change the game for you, period! In this episode, we talk about: The notion of an internal thermostat that sets the limit of your success, joy, happiness, peace etc.Recognizing fundamental beliefs from your childhood that set your internal ceilingMentioned in this episode:Episode 001: Profiles in PurposeEpisode 005: The Cavewoman WithinEpisode 048: Your Inner Stories are Hindering You from Starting Your BusinessThe Big Leap by Gay HendricksWant to take the first step to overcome procrastination? Hey Squad,I am so excited about this episode because I am sharing with you some of my secrets to redeeming time. Before we get into it, as you've probably heard, I am building a Membership site for y'all - A Tribe Called Purpose™. I'm inviting y'all to sign up for the Waitlist by CLICKING HERE so that you have all the tea when we start off.Today's episode is short, but it is a foundational principle on how you can take small steps to start walking in your purpose. So, a lot of times, we say that we don't have time. And it's true. However, how is it that other people seem to do more with their time than we do?Y'all know my story. I used to spend an inordinate amount of time on social media to numb my anxiety. And it felt like I didn't have time. I was always rushing, always behind until I got a handle on my habits. I started pouring into myself every morning and teaching my Cavewoman that I can do hard things! Now, it feels like I have so much more time than I used to. And I don't. It's the same 24 hours! By investing in myself, I have found ways to spend money in order to gain time for things that are important to me. Now, this may be a hard time for you and you may not have the money you wish to have. So this is not to make you feel guilty about that. But if you are able, what are ways that you can invest in yourself so that you have more time for your purpose? In this episode, I discuss:Time as a finite resource vs money as an infinite resource.Recognizing the things that are taking my time away from my purpose work and what is important.Taking back my time by investing in services that help me delegate tasks. *********************************************************************************************************I invite you to take my Productive on Purpose™ Community Survey. What up, Squad!Happy New Year!!!If you are listening to this, you made it!Our purpose is not postponed just because there is a pandemic. In fact, I would submit to you that our purpose is even more crucial at this time.By now, y'all know I'm a strong believer that every day, every morning is a God-given chance to draw closer to our Zone of Proximal Greatness.Last year, I hosted a Habit Board Party. This year, I decided, as a gift to my community that I would do it in the form of this podcast. So this is going to be a Habit-Building Masterclass y'all. Y'all know my story. After my mom passed away, I decided that I was going to walk in my purpose. I started listening to all these podcasts, bought all these courses... By looking at my life, you wouldn't tell that I had these aspirations and dreams because nothing changed.I was still snoozing, and a procrastinating hot mess. I was consuming a lot of information, but I wasn't implementing anything. I had a lot of dreams, goals, and desires, but my day-to-day existence was the same. What I want for you is that we engage in habits that on a daily basis support the goals that we have. We are going to be honest with ourselves, and get deeper into how our good and bad habits serve us.  I'm taking you step by step through this process and helping you start new habits to take you closer to your purpose in 2021 in this Masterclass.Download the Habit Board Party Workbook HERE!Mentioned in this episode:Episode 000-Welcome to the POP Podcast!Episode 005: The Cavewoman WithinBONUS! What up Squad!!! I'm so grateful to have you in my life. You have kept me going this year, and that is not an exaggeration. There were moments I just wanted to throw in the towel, but when I remembered I have been called to serve you... I couldn't!Announcement: I'm reviewing my content and products for next year and I would love to hear from you what you think and where you're at.  Sis, would you please do me a favor and take the Productive on Purpose™ Community Survey? I'm looking forward to serving y'all in the best possible way. Let's get into it...What a year! As always, I'm giving you ALL the tea. Here at the Pop Squad, we are all about being real. Serving the good, the bad, and the uggggllyyy!Building a business is hard! When I think of Q4, the word that comes to mind first is traumatizing.I explain why (download & listen to the podcast) - and I take full responsibility for the trauma. Some were out of my control and some of it was self-inflicted.I've had huge wins this year hiring for my business and I've also learned huge lessons on choosing people. Some painful lessons are because I  see the potential in people and I want to give them chances to prove themselves, but unfortunately potential doesn't get the work done.Another huge win: The Push Through Procrastination™ 5-Day Challenge!!! Whoa!! Shout out to all of the amazing women who showed up and made the Challenge a success.I'm so grateful and I'm amazed that I did everything that I set out to do in Q4. Did I achieve the impact that I hoped to? No, I didn't. And that is where some of the grief comes in.The lessons I've learned:Changing quickly if something isn't working for me.Meeting y'all where you're at. Sometime back, I made a change on my podcast and platform to focus on purpose and entrepreneurship. That was a mistake. And I appreciate the feedback I got from y'all. I need to meet you where you're at.  I was trying to rapidly push you guys to where I want you to be instead of meeting you where you are, and that was wrong. I'm sorry about that.Mentioned in this episode:Episode 000-Welcome to the POP Podcast!*********************************************************************************************************I invite you to take my Productive on Purpose™ Community Survey. Hey Squad,I want to appreciate all of you who listen to my podcast every week. I feel so blessed that I get to serve you in this way. On today's podcast, I had the privilege of catching up with Dr. Lisa Davis, M.D. who was a participant in Cycle 3 of my program, Procrastination to Purpose™, and I thought it would be great to share her story with you all in the podcast land!Dr. Lisa Davis, M.D., is a family medicine physician and she has been doing clinical and academic medicine for 20 years. She is now transitioning into an entrepreneur. Her business will help people move from fear and avoidance to love and intention in the area of fitness and nutrition. She did my Push Through Procrastination™ 5-Day Challenge and joined my Procrastination to Purpose™ Program because she felt she need to manage her transition from her full-time job into retirement and keep her progress flowing as fast.I knew that I needed more. The 5-Day Challenge - outstanding!  But I, knowing myself, wanted to build on that momentum. I wanted to get more. I just was wanting more information about how to keep this Cavewoman from defeating me. And I knew that the value of what you had to offer just from the 5-Day course. I knew you were about the business. That it was going to be worth my time and my money. And it was going to be effective. So, yeah, I signed up right away. No hesitation. And you gave us a discount. But I would have paid whatever it was. ~ Dr. Lisa DavisI am incredibly humbled that the program I created has such an impact on the people that take it. To add to the business and personal goals that most women come to the program with, the principles that I teach spill over to other areas of their lives. I was so happy when Dr. Lisa said that she used the Push Through Principle™ that I teach to finally set up a meeting with her financial advisor and get to look at her money. You can change your life, get productive, and start your own business even if you struggle with procrastination. What up SQUAD!!!!Y'all can tell I'm excited from all them exclamation marks. I have had such an AMAZING, UNBELIEVABLE, IMPACTFUL, CRAZY, and PRODUCTIVE week during my  Push Through Procrastination™ 5-Day Challenge!I can't believe it! Close to 200 women signed up. The testimonies... I am so grateful. I am blown away, I am overjoyed. Before we get into it, if you're a high achieving woman but you know there's that you're NOT fully walking in your purpose...You have a way that you want to show up in this world and serve, but you don't know where to start. Especially because you procrastinate... I want to help you.I invite you to sign up for my upcoming Procrastination to Purpose™ Program.  The doors are NOW open and will close on Wednesday, December 23rd. You are my people and I know you, so don't procrastinate and be scrambling to sign up on the last day.Our kickoff call will be on Monday, December 28th and we start the program on Wednesday, January 6th.So, let's get into the real reason you are not showing up for yourself. You don't TRUST yourself.Whaaaaat??!!! Yes Sis, your unconscious mind has learned over the YEARS that you don't keep your promises to yourself. Y'all know my story. I would snooze, scramble to get to work, be unproductive by scrolling social media, thrive on deadlines - you know how we procrastinators love deadlines and break promises to others. You're NOT a bad person. You're NOT deficient in some way. You DON'T have a character flaw issue. You are a human being that has an unconscious mind that is setting you up.Your unconscious mind, which we call our inner Cavewoman, is trying to protect you from failure. And so, we use procrastination as a crutch to prevent us from feeling the hurt and rejection that comes from failing. My take-aways from this episode:Your relationship with yourself (which is unconscious) is the most impactful relationship of all.You cannot walk in your purpose with a trail of broken promises.Affirmations are empty. They only work when there's evidence of actions paired with the affirming words.Mentioned in this episode:  Episode 001-Profiles in Purpose: My Story Pt. 1Episode 002- Profiles in Purpose: My story Pt. 2Episode 005- The Cavewoman Within: Why we procrastinate and how to overcome it.*********************************************************************************************************This week's podcast episode is sponsored by my freebie: The Procrastinators Guide to Starting a Business.Want to take the first step to overcome procrastination? What up Squad!I am going to be productive and launch into my purpose next year... Is this what you are currently telling yourself Sis? Have you delegated your life to some future time? This was me!Y'all know here at the Pop Podcast, we are real and tell it as it is. Do you guys know that I used to repeat these affirmations that we are told to – I will stop procrastinating! I will be a better wife and mother this year! I will start showing up for myself and serve!I can go on and on...But the sad thing is, I didn't even believe the things I was saying. Why? Because I had no evidence of actually having been successful at doing these things. I had no CONFIDENCE that I could get any of these affirmations and plans done because I had been living as a procrastinator for essentially my whole life!Research shows that if your unconscious mind knows that what you're reciting is not the truth, you're actually doing more harm than good to yourself. Wow!I'll share with you an extract of the testimonial I got from the last challenge I ran in October:Before I participated in the Pop Squad 5-Day Challenge, I knew I was a procrastinator. I was the rush-at-the-deadline woman. Having my type of procrastination identified (Who knew there was a type?) was all I needed to counter its effect. Simply realizing I was avoiding tasks and why was enough to turn me around? I haven't been this productive without a deadline looming, ever. - CatherineMy programs work. So, if you are listening to this TODAY, I want you to do yourself a favor. If you haven't joined the FREE  Push Through Procrastination™ 5-Day Challenge, sign up HERE. I want you in there because it is time!It is past time for us to get out of our own way and start walking in our purpose. So you've only missed one night. It will be very easy for you to catch up and join us tonight at 8:30 PM.This is one of the first small steps to change the narrative in your unconscious mind and start keeping your promises to yourself every single day.My take-outs from this episode:Develop a system to help you start keeping your promises.Start building some accountability in your life.Mentioned in this episode:Episode 000-Welcome to the POP Podcast!*********************************************************************************************************This week's podcast episode is sponsored by my freebie: The Procrastinators Guide to Starting a Business.Want to take the first step to overcome procrastination? I'm normally not much of a challenge person because my attention span usually doesn't take me through all the days of the challenge, but I thought if I don't do this, then I'm feeding right into the procrastination that I'm trying to fix. And so I joined. ~ Dr. CatherineIn this episode we talk about:Procrastination is not you being lazy. How profound keeping your morning promise and NOT snoozing is critical to overcoming procrastination.Ignoring your Cavewoman. The impact of NOT procrastinating.Squad, this short interview is power-packed with so many nuggets of what I teach you. I'm so glad that Catherine said that she felt what she was getting from the Challenge was NOT a watered-down version of what I do, or I didn't give her just enough so that she knew she needed it; it was like BOOM! This is it! She knew she was getting the meat and potatoes of what this was right from the beginning. Y'all know, I give you my all. She received her J.D. from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law; and received her bachelor's degree from Georgia State University. Asia Marie Woods is passionate about educating entrepreneurs on owning their trademarks and leveraging their intellectual property to scale their businesses. She has also dedicated her legal career to providing pro-bono representation for low-income individuals seeking bankruptcy relief. As a new entrepreneur, it's pretty overwhelming and very daunting when you're getting started. Especially when you're a solopreneur – you're doing everything.Asia shares with us how she lost a six-figure investment deal because of missing just ONE step when she was starting one of her businesses. Squad, it is PAINFUL to watch what you have built be taken from you. Therefore, it is important that you protect your blood, sweat, and tears from the beginning or take on the risk that someone out there in another state is going to come for you for using their trademark. In this episode we talk about:What is a Trademark? What is Copyright?Intellectual property as assets.Contracts as protection policies for employers. My take-outs:Having your business house in order.Every client is not for you. What up, SQUAD!!!I had no intention of recording a bonus episode, but I got an epiphany and I just had to!I just got my Peloton bike and I was doing Tunde Oyeneyin Beginner's ride. She started sharing how Beyonce's 'I Was Here' healed her after her father passed away. She realized that her father lived his life in such a way that he touched so many people. This song allowed her to know that he was here and that she can carry on his legacy through what she does. And I got really emotional...Many of you guys know that everything I do on my podcast and in my business is as a result of my mother and the incredible life that she lived. But also the dreams that she deferred... And I find myself getting emotional again.I made a decision at that moment that I was going to walk in my purpose despite lots of false starts. It still took another year to get out of my own way and stop self-sabotaging and finally develop the system that I teach you guys together with my students in my programs.I've been thinking about, this notion of legacy... And I have been going back to Beyonce's Homecoming. The only difference between her and 99.9% of the world is that she is allowing herself to be great because she wants to leave a mark on this world. She does not want this world to pass her by knowing that she could have showed-up!It is a scary thing to think that you will be required to give an account of the gifts (talents) that God gave you. What will you have to say for yourself if you did not work the gift that you were blessed with?Beyond that, how many people will you have denied walking in their purpose because you didn't do your part? And because I understand the struggle of being a procrastinator and getting out of your own way, and because I was you, I want to help you. I am called to serve you.The first step is, go to sign up HERE for FREE for the Push Through Procrastination™ 5-Day Challenge for a chance to TRANSFORM your Life!I am excited that we have a chance to make a decision and DO THIS! I used to say that I will get all the work I need to in January because something magical will happen and I will get all the motivation I need. Hey Squad!!We are about to do another Push Through Procrastination™ 5-Day Challenge starting Sunday, 29th November to Thursday, 3rd December, by changing the stories that we tell ourselves and I am excited! Particularly because I am focusing on the Procrastipreneur™ who feels their procrastination is hindering them from starting and running a successful business. As I reflect on my past and the journey to overcoming procrastination and starting my business, I recognize that there were so many stories I was telling myself.Squad, these stories are so, so subtle. I didn't even realize that I was having internal conversations with myself. My therapist was the first person that talked to me and pointed out the fact that my internal dialogue and the stories that I was telling myself were negatively impacting my life. My husband had previously pointed some of these things out, but I got a little defensive... Y'all know how it's like. And so, when my therapist pointed it out, it was a HUGE, HUGE revelation to me.When I was researching this, I discovered that our internal dialogue goes much faster than our verbal dialogue. Because of how fast these conversations are happening, you may not be stopping and picking the messages that your mind is processing.I had told myself a story that I couldn't start a business because the only people who leave medicine are the people who fail. Where did that come from?Download and Listen to the episode! My take-outs from this episode:Recognize the thought you're having.Search for the evidence and ask yourself, "Is this true?"Re-write your internal narrative.Mentioned in this Episode:Episode 000-Welcome to the POP Podcast!Episode 001-Profiles in Purpose: My Story Pt. 1 Episode 002- Profiles in Purpose: My story Pt. 2 Episode 016: You're No Different Than Beyonce-Allowing yourself to be great Episode 037: Put Your Cavewoman On Trial: How to eliminate negative self-talk Jazmine: Follow her on Instagram!*********************************************************************************************************This week's podcast episode is sponsored by my freebie: The Procrastinators Guide to Starting a Business.Want to take the first step to overcome procrastination? What up, Squad! This week's episode is FIRE! We are counting the cost, y'all! It hit me hard this week as I was preparing for this episode when I thought, 'What would have happened if I hadn't made that choice to walk in my purpose and taken those messy first steps after my Mom passed on?'The cost of procrastination is higher than the cost of transformation.  (Read that again) Why do I say this? Most people I meet or coach have the mindset (like I did), that as long as something is done, even if it's last minute, that's that! We don't stop and take stock of the full impact of procrastination. Before I mastered my Cavewoman I would wake up everyday and think to myself, 'Okay... I wonder what fire I'm putting out today?' It was truly, truly a day to day struggle, every single day.The biggest thing that procrastination cost me was my peace. And you might be feeling, 'Well... peace is not that important to me.'Sis! Take it from me. If you are not peaceful, you cannot walk in your purpose. You will be a toxic person to be around. It will cost you key relationships like family and friends. It will cost you opportunities; because no one wants to be around negative energy. You will get into time debt!!! What is that? Listen to the episode!!!!My take-outs from this episode (and they are many):You have to get out of the cycle of self-punishment and overcompensation. It is important to eliminate negative self-talk. The things that you tell yourself are as powerful - and I dare say - more powerful than the things other people say to you.Who I'm I denying an opportunity to walk in their purpose because I stopped walking in mine? How many lives are not changed because I didn't meet their need with the gifts and knowledge that I have been blessed with?My challenge to you this week is to take stock. It will renew your determination and motivation to keep pushing through procrastination.Mentioned in this Episode:Episode 000-Welcome to the POP Podcast!
