Guest: Angela Allison, Co-Founder and CEO of Wine Society. Wines tasted: Wine Society's Fate White Blend, Chance Rosé and Tempt Red Blend.Hosts Sandy and Michelle are joined by Angela Allison, Co-Founder and CEO of Wine Society. Angela Allison is a millennial entrepreneur who set her sights in 2018 on Napa Valley's wine scene with a new century point of view - wine needed to fit into HER lifestyle which finds her often on the move - whether on a boat, hiking or cross-country treks between her home states of Ohio and California. Her solution for her wine needs was can based. Angela's co-founder and husband is an entrepreneur himself, steeped in the data that drives both real estate and Silicon Valley. That knowledge basis led them to jump into a market space primed for growth. In August 2020, canned wine sales reflected a 68% increase in the year from August 2019. Wine Society's canned red blend, Tempt, scored 94 points at the International Wine and Spirits competition - the only canned wine to do so.Wine Society features rich, matte finished tall cans that hold 500 ML, another deviation from the norm, based on half carafe sizing as Angela feels that is the perfect size for sharing - or not. True to her generational cohort, Angela's vision for the design of Wine Society's can had two key elements - they are eco-friendly and VERY Instagram-worthy. Listen to learn more about the process that led to this beautiful and appealing design.A fun episode to kick off March 2021's focus on women in the wine industry, this episode is a peek into both the wine industry and the entrepreneurial mindset. Guest: AnnaLee Zenkner of Water From Wine. Wines Tasted: Water From Wines' 2015 Horse Heaven Hills and Red Mountain Cabernet Sauvignons.Hosts Sandy and Michelle are joined by AnnaLee Zenkner, of Water From Wine, tasting two Washington State Cabernet Sauvignons. A non-profit organization, Water From Wine's mission is to support clean water efforts from the sale of their wines. After a harrowing  incident in which he was abducted and tortured, founder Pat Tucker made a promise,  dedicating  his life to Christianity and helping others. From that promise came the concept of Water from Wine (a play on the Biblical story in which Jesus turned wine into water). According to the World Health Organization, 1 in 3 people do not have access to clean water, and the issues that stem from that lack are profound. So, Water From Wine set about turning commercial farmer Pat Tucker's personal family vineyard into a business that supports clean water efforts globally. While this story alone is fascinating, AnnaLee provides an insider's peak into the Washington State wine scene that will have you booking your plane tickets for a two week camping tour of the Pacific Northwest's wineries ASAP! A heartwarming conversation, chock full of information and wine enthusiasm makes this a wine story you need to hear!!For more information on Water from Wine: visit waterfromwine.org********************************************Finalist in the 12th Annual TASTE AWARDS  in four categories.
