Description

A queer contemporary take of the Goldilocks tale: about love, music, and breaking the cycle of abuse. Goldie escapes a chaotic childhood only to go from a partner who starves her of love to a partner who nearly drowns her in it, before learning to be just right on her own. From CBC Podcasts and Mermaid Palace. Produced by award-winning podcast creator Kaitlin Prest featuring writer/director Drew Denny.

The Heart is an audio art project about power and love. From CBC Podcasts, Mermaid Palace and Radiotopia. SISTERS is a 5 episode series that follows the journey of an older and younger sister from birth to adulthood. Natalie and Kaitlin went from being childhood rivals to being best friends. When the sisters decide to work together to create the very podcast series you are about to listen to, they face challenges they never anticipated. Sibling rivalry, mental health struggles and the daunting task of creating an audio series about it all: can these women overcome the patterns they learned in childhood and live in harmony as adults? How did Goldie get here? She fell in love.

Seems interesting, but the sound design makes the dialogue unintelligible half the time, which makes it difficult to follow the story.

In all honesty, this podcast sat in my library completely untouched for the longest time. When I finally decided to commit to listening to it I binged the entire thing at once. All I can say is WOW. Surprisingly made me feel emotional. I really like what they’re trying to get across and the issues they try to bring awareness to in relationships; domestic violence/abuse. It’s hard not to get alittle frustrated with Goldie, but at the same time a lot of men and women face these issues everyday and it’s a very sad situation. All in all, I loved it. It’s heavy, but the work put into it definetly shows and I would recommend it.
