Dr. Dina, Host of Coughy Talk on Clubhouse and Cannabis Confidential with Dr. Dina on Cannabis Radio, and co-founder of Alternative Herbal Health Services in West Hollywood, California, joins Dazed And Infused only on cannabis radio. Once Snoop Dogg lays a nickname on you, it sticks for life – just ask “Dr. Dina,” his longtime friend, confidante, and business associate. Dr. Dina is not a board-certified M.D., nor did she go to medical school. Rather, Dr. Dina received her nickname from Snoop for being one of the pioneers of the movement in Southern California to provide safe access to medical cannabis in accordance with state law. A powerful advocate for mainstreaming medical marijuana and beloved by hundreds of Hollywood celebs and dignitaries for over a decade, all the while maintaining her secrecy due to the relatively conservative social circles in which she lives, Dr. Dina has now decided to come forward and step into the spotlight following the prominent mention she received (an inadvertent “outing”) in the article on Snoop in the January 2013 issue of GQ titled “The Lion Smokes Tonight.” In the article, Dr. Dina is referred to as “a thin brunette who has the whole Nancy Botwin look down cold,” a reference to the pot-selling mom played by Mary-Louise Parker on the award-winning comedy-drama “Weeds.” That’s not even the half of it – the character Nancy Botwin and the very premise for the show was inspired by Dr. Dina, who launched her consultancy in 2003, two years before the show debuted and at a time when she had direct contact with creative personnel on the show and when there were very few if any, other women in the business – especially in Los Angeles. Dr. Dina explains “Ever since the pilot aired and even more so today, I’m constantly being stopped and asked if I’m “the real” Nancy Botwin. Yes, the pilot was based on me. But Weeds is certainly not my life story. Nancy was a criminal drug dealer. Everything I do is 100 percent legal in accordance with state law. I am not so much driven by money but by the desire to help people in need.”

Chopped 420 with comedian Ron Funches today on Dazed and Infused with Latham Woodward only on cannabis radio. According to the press info, in each hour-long episode of Chopped 420, the chefs must try to please the palates of a panel of recurring judges, including chef Esther Choi, drag performer and cannabis activist Laganja Estranja, chef Luke Reyes, chef Sam Talbot, and comedian Tacarra Williams, if they want to avoid being chopped. Episodes will include chefs trying to make dishes that use spot prawns and borscht, something called “chocolate dentures,” and the not-very-appetizing-sounding combo of armadillo eggs and eel. Chopped 420 isn’t the first culinary competition to emphasize weed cuisine. Portland-based chef Leather Storrs was featured on a Netflix show called “Cooked With Cannabis,” which premiered last year on Netflix. Like the popular “Chopped” show on Food Network, “Chopped 420″ will challenge chefs to prepare delicious meals with unpredictable ingredients. But “Chopped 420″ adds a twist. As the press information promises, the show will break new ground, “with each episode featuring four budding cannabis chefs who are challenged to create tasty and mind-warping dishes through three rounds – appetizer, entrée, and dessert - from a mystery basket of ingredients for a chance at winning the $10,000 grand prize. Besides scouring the Chopped pantry for ingredients, each competitor must also navigate the Chopped greenhouse for cannabis or CBD-infused products to incorporate into their dishes.”
Home Baked: My Mom, Marijuana, and the Stoning of San Francisco with author Alia Volz today on Dazed And Infused only on Cannabis Radio. Alia is the author of the new memoir Home Baked: My Mom, Marijuana, and the Stoning of San Francisco (Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, 2020), winner of the Golden Poppy Award for Nonfiction from the California Independent Bookseller Alliance, and a finalist for the National Book Critics Circle Award in Autobiography. She’s a homegrown San Franciscan. Her work has been published in The Best American Essays, The New York Times, Bon Appetit, Salon, and The Best Women’s Travel Writing. Her family story has been featured on Snap Judgement, Criminal, and NPR’s Fresh Air. During the '70s in San Francisco, Alia's mother ran the underground Sticky Fingers Brownies, delivering upwards of 10,000 illegal marijuana edibles per month throughout the circus-like atmosphere of a city in the throes of major change. She exchanged psychic readings with Alia's future father, and thereafter had a partner in business and life. Decades before canna-business went mainstream when marijuana was as illicit as heroin, they ingeniously hid in plain sight, parading through town—and through the scenes and upheavals of the day, from Gay Liberation to the tragedy of the Peoples Temple—in bright and elaborate outfits, the goods wrapped in hand-designed packaging and tucked into Alia's stroller. But the stars were not aligned forever and, after leaving the city and a shoulda-seen-it-coming divorce, Alia and her mom returned to San Francisco in the mid-80s, this time using Sticky Fingers' distribution channels to provide medical marijuana to friends and former customers now suffering the depredations of AIDS. Exhilarating, laugh-out-loud funny, and heartbreaking, Home Baked celebrates an eccentric and remarkable extended family, taking us through love, loss, and finding a home.

Blazy Bar with Blazy Susan founder Will Breakell today on Dazed And Infused with Latham Woodward only on Cannabis Radio. Blazy Susan is largely known for making pink rolling papers and spinning rolling trays for at-home cannabis use, but the company's owner, Will Breakell, is building a reputation with his custom dab bars. Celebrities like Bella Thorne have called on Breakell to make their back yards into dab-friendly playgrounds, and he thinks that's just the start of something big. We caught up with the cannabis handyman to learn more. A dab bar, or cannabis consumption bar, is a new concept in the world of cannabis. We like to refer to it as a Blazy Bar. The basic idea is that it will be the focal point of consumption in the home. Just as a traditional bar or bar cart is the home to your drinks and tools used to make your cocktails, the Blazy Bar is home to everything you need to medicate, whether that’s by yourself or with friends. It’s meant to be a communal space that takes consumption out of the garage and into the home. We believe getting high is a ritual that should be celebrated and enjoyed with your loved ones, not pushed aside as something to hide or be ashamed of.

High Life Farms with Cofounders Ben and Vinnie Celeni today on Dazed And Infused only on Cannabis Radio. High Life primarily conducts cultivation, manufacturing, and distribution in California, while its Michigan operations are more vertically integrated. The brothers take a divide-and-conquer approach to operations, with Vinnie overseeing sales and marketing and Ben leading the cultivation side of the multi-state operator (MSO). The brothers said they grew up with a love for cannabis and a respect for its ability to improve lives. Although they always wanted to set up their own shop, they initially found roles within the industry to gain knowledge and get comfortable with the sector. Upon founding the business, High Life grew rapidly. In Michigan, the company grows flowers and produces edibles, working closely with partners at Wana and Kiva on product development. The company currently has 150 employees and plans to add more than 50 more jobs by the end of 2021. The company’s success hasn’t been without its challenges, and Vinnie admits that High Life tried to expand too quickly. The company previously had operations in Colorado, but they decided to leave the already established market for better opportunities in California and Michigan. While they were selling in Colorado, they were ramping up in California and Michigan, and Ben admits that they bit off more than they could chew. However, the growing pains helped the brothers become more methodical, building the business piece-by-piece.
