We're all over the week's latest Senators' news with great hockey interviews, honest discussion and debate, plus features about the club's past, present and future.

We have actual dates for a return to hockey!  But will COVID truly allow the NHL to finish what is starts? The Sens have some good prospects in goal, but no sure things. Could Robin Lehner be the answer? In 1996, the Sens obviously didn't know what they had in Pavol Demitra but Peter Stastny says he did. Or did he really..?  Signing Brady Tkachuk. You can pay him now or your can pay him later. Will the freedom to sign in Europe and return for the 2020-21 season have any effect on Sens free agents? In a ranking of NHL arenas in a 31 team league, the CTC somehow finished 32nd???
Our best guess on what the top 5 NHL draft picks will be...most importantly which two players the Sens may get. Will the Russian goalie be in play? Historically, how have other teams done when they had 3 first-round draft picks in the same draft?  Former Senator GM's Rick Dudley (Carolina) and Randy Sexton (Buffalo) both recently parted company with their organizations.  Should the Sens kick the tires on hiring them?  Sens alumni birthdays bring back a very special memory for Sens fans. We Rage About the NHL Draft Lottery Process; Sens Get the #3 and the #5 Picks and Alexis Lafreniere Goes to UNKNOWN??!! WHAT KIND OF SYSTEM IS THAT? Daniel Alfredsson is overlooked for the Hockey Hall of Fame. It was shaping up to be such a good week too...
Is the Hall of Fame finally going to praise Alfie next week? The Buffalo Sabres blow things up, firing the GM and about 20 other employees. Things the Sens can do to win fans back. Connor brown opens up on some things about the season. That Sun story last week about Melnyk's organ  donor charity?  The paper has to issue corrections and an apology. An Ottawa Senator from that magical 2017 playoff run retires from hockey.
Bobby Ryan is up for the Masterton award. His hat trick in February was one for the ages. Chris Cuthbert called that game. He's moving from TSN to Sportsnet. He misses calling playoff games, which TSN won't have for at least 6 more years. Sens part company with the Sens Foundation, citing mediocre donation percentages. Different standards for the owner's organ donation fund which, according to the Ottawa sun, made one million dollars in 2018 and only donated $5000 of it to the charity. Graeme Nicholls joins for an interview. This week he started a crowdfunding campaign on twitter and raised more for organ donation in a few hours than Melnyk's charity raised in all of 2018. Where are they now? Brandon Boechenski named Mayor of Grand Forks North Dakota this week. The Senators season is over. The NHL draft lottery rules are out. We'll try and make sense of it, but we still have questions. We sure played a lot of hockey this year to eliminate only 23 per cent of the teams. We'll give you our must-watch playoff series. After two seasons without one, Sens head coach DJ Smith is now at least talking about naming a captain. Chris Wideman signs on in the KHL. Did his gruesome hamstring injury affect his career or was he perhaps - with a nod to Dennis Green – not what we thought he was? Josh Norris is the AHL rookie of the year. Will he be a Senator next season? Sens alumni birthdays Episode 14. Best number 14 of all time.
NHL MEMO that went out May 24th on the instructions for moving to Phase 2. It's voluntary and a maximum of six players will be allowed in club facilities at one time.  The Sens season ends with 11 games left to play in the regular season...the NHL is moving on, focused now on a 24 team playoffs. Buffalo, New Jersey, Anaheim, Los Angeles, San Jose and Detroit — also will join the Sens in the beginning what could be a very long offseason. a 9 month off season? Buffalo only 3pts out Old guys not going to the playoffs struggling with long layoff?  Ryan Miller, Craig anderson, ron hainsey, joe Thornton, Dustin brown Bobby Ryan almost 34...only 8 games in 13 months... According to the Hockey News, if you re-drafted the 2018 draft, Brady Tkachuk's draft ranking would be the same.  Agree or disagree? Alfie scores in overtime! Today's the anniversary of the Sens' only Conference title. It also the 40th anniversary this week of Islanders' first Cup and the 25th anniversary of the final games ever played at Le Colisee and Boston Garden. 8 year UFA contracts are, more often than not, a bad idea. Mark Stone was one of the few players to become better skaters while in the NHL. Most don't. To prepare for the draft, Pierre Dorion begins player interviews with top prospects via Zoom. What's missing from the process when you don't speak in person? One NHL player wonders, if they do resume play during COVID, "What if someone gets sick and dies?" Artyom Zub is seen by the Hockey News as a Russian Olympic candidate, even if the NHL return there. The 1987 Canada Cup final was televised on the weekend. We discuss that amazing tournament. Gregg was in the building that night and describes it.  And why something was lost when it became the World Cup. Plus the 50th anniversary of the Cup-winning goal by Bobby Orr, who's as great a guy as he was a player.  That goal is often called the greatest NHL goal ever scored. Is it really? Ontario letting its pro teams start training in small groups at club facilities, including the Sens.  We'll discuss the latest we're hearing on the NHL draft and a return to play.

Getting to Know Anthony Duclair Craig Anderson Sad He's Not Part of the Sens' Bright Future. We get into some trivia during this week in Sens history.  As in, what former Senator holds the record, playing for 12 NHL teams in his career?  Mika Zibanejad and Marty Havlat both celebrated birthdays this week.   With Toronto getting a pro team, what does this mean for the immediate future of women's hockey, and will Toronto soon get a professional men's team? Pierre Dorion addressed the media this week so we dissect what he had to say on various Senators issues in "Dissecting Dorion." Two good Senators Prospects Sign, while two elite ones return to school. Gregg coached Kevin Mandolese at U-17 camp a few years ago and gives us a sense of what Mandy is all about. Spoiler: Mandy came and he gave without taking. Artyom Zub isn't a done deal, not yet. We also discuss how every player develops differently and needs to be handled and coached differently. Eugene Melnyk comes through again this week with COVID-19 aid.
Coming up this week… Sunday April 12th is the 20th anniversary of the start of the Battle of Ontario. Shaun Van Allen played in that series for Ottawa and will join us to talk about it. As we record this, today should have been the day of the draft lottery…so we bought a new draft lottery simulator which I now plan to burn. You’ll find out why. It couldn't have gone worse. In our top 5 today…we examine the Senators top 5 first round draft picks. Mark Kastelic comes from great NHL bloodlines as he signs this week with the Sens.

2 Ottawa Senators test positive for Coronavirus If the NHL season is over, a former Ottawa Senator will go down as the NHL’s goals per game leader.  Right now it feels like a bad trade but only time will tell for sure. So we’ll look back at the Sens worst deals. We all know how weird Tom Brady is going to look in a Tampa Bay Buccaneers uniform…Which former Ottawa Senator did you most hate seeing in a different uniform, looking all awkward and unfamiliar? Four active Ottawa Senators celebrated birthdays this week.  One former Senator is still active and a first-ballot hall of fame and also celebrated this week.  
The Sens and the rest of the NHL are in shutdown mode. It's small potatoes, compared to what's going on in the rest of the world, but will the rest of the season be cancelled now? If it's cancelled will they mess around with the NHL draft lottery rules? It's the 5 year anniversary of the Hamburglar run. 20 year anniversary of start of the battle of Ontario.  Will the Battle ever get that good again? JG Pageau is traded to the Islanders on deadline day.  The Sens get a first-rounder and a second-rounder in return.  With Namestnikov, Ennis and DeMelo also gone, these could be some tough nights to close out this season.
