Today on the show we’re talking to Monty Moran, CEO of Chipotle. Monty talks about how he started as a lawyer, quickly moved up the ranks in his law firm and became the CEO of his law firm because the partners saw he was a leader. He then had Chipotle as a client, and the CEO of Chipotle saw how well his firm was doing and wondered how Monty had created such a great culture, and brought him on as co-CEO of Chipotle.Monty talks about the 3 reasons why people aren’t happy in your company. There are low performers, which is rare, not knowing the standards of your workplace, and most importantly your employees are not feeling empowered. Empowerment can lead to some amazing results, if every one of your employees feels like they are furthering themselves as well as the company, you know you’ve built a successful culture.People are much more in common than they are different, Monty went out to show that people are connected in a lot of ways. He shot a documentary series called, Connected: A Search for Unity airing on PBS. Links:  Follow True Underdog on IG: www.instagram.com/true_underdogReach out to Jayson directly at jayson@trueunderdog.comFollow Jayson on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jayson-waller-/Follow Jayson on Instagram: www.instagram.com/jaysonwallerbamCheck out our website to meet the team, view show notes and transcripts: www.trueunderdog.comApply for a chance to receive a $10,000 business grant: https://trueunderdog.com/underdog-achievers-program/ Resources: Monty’s Website: https://montyfmoran.com/Monty’s Book, Love is Free. Today on the show John LeBlanc is back and interviews Jayson about why you need to stop overthinking your problems, and start quickly making decisions, to solve them! Jayson talks about how he hates the phrase “what if” and how it means that you are looking backwards, when you should be trying to fix the problems that are at hand right now. It’s important to think of yourself last in business decisions, first think about how this will affect your brand and your team, then about how it will affect you. When making important decisions, Jayson thinks about how it will impact right now, tomorrow and 6 months from now. Thinking any further down the road than that will allow you to start overthinking the problem at hand.Follow the facts, make an informed decision, but ultimately following your gut will help you make quick decisions. Don’t try to make the right decisions, take action and move forward from there! Links:  Follow True Underdog on IG: www.instagram.com/true_underdogReach out to Jayson directly at jayson@trueunderdog.comFollow Jayson on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jayson-waller-/Follow Jayson on Instagram: www.instagram.com/jaysonwallerbamCheck out our website to meet the team, view show notes and transcripts: www.trueunderdog.comApply for a chance to receive a $10,000 business grant: https://trueunderdog.com/underdog-achievers-program/ Timestamps: 1:14 - Everyday Overthinking3:38 - Analysis Paralysis6:21 - No Doubts10:24 - Struggling to Make Quick Decisions13:02 - Getting Unstuck15:08 - You Don’t Try, You Do15:54 - If Only…18:34 - Keep Moving Forward20:04 - In the Moment23:09 - Bigger Than Us26:50 - Aggravated Optimism30:39 - Growth Mindset Leader33:09 - Honest and Real Culture36:35 - Never Settle39:01 - Breaking Barriers

He had to learn to overcome those obstacles, meet new people, and create new relationships.Brian talks about how he needed to make failures in order to get to where he is today, he mentions a time, early in 1-800-GOT-JUNK’s life that he had to fire 11 people at once because they weren’t good fits for his image of the company. He doesn’t regret any of it because without those mistakes, he wouldn’t be where his today, with the lessons he’s learned from them. Links:  Follow True Underdog on IG: www.instagram.com/true_underdogReach out to Jayson directly at jayson@trueunderdog.comFollow Jayson on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jayson-waller-/Follow Jayson on Instagram: www.instagram.com/jaysonwallerbamCheck out our website to meet the team, view show notes and transcripts: www.trueunderdog.comApply for a chance to receive a $10,000 business grant: https://trueunderdog.com/underdog-achievers-program/ Mentioned in the Episode:  Brian's Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/scudamore/?originalSubdomain=caBrian’s Twitter: https://twitter.com/brianscudamore?lang=enBrian’s Book, WTF?! Today Jayson talks about depression and how to deal with it. The fact is, it’s different for everyone, it manifests differently and everyone deals with it differently, but appreciating what’s around you, leaving the past in the past, and taking it one step at a time, WILL help you get past whatever you are dealing with.If you are breathing, if you’re alive today, you are batting 100% in terms of getting over your depression! If there are negative people in your life, get rid of them, if there is negativity on the TV, quit watching it. Cut what you can, it’s you versus the world, and the world isn’t going to play fair. Start working out, start praying, start therapy, whatever you have to do to become a better person, DO IT! Links:  Follow True Underdog on IG: www.instagram.com/true_underdogReach out to Jayson directly at jayson@trueunderdog.comFollow Jayson on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jayson-waller-/Follow Jayson on Instagram: www.instagram.com/jaysonwallerbamCheck out our website to meet the team, view show notes and transcripts: www.trueunderdog.comApply for a chance to receive a $10,000 business grant: https://trueunderdog.com/underdog-achievers-program/ Timestamps: 0:48 - The Struggle is Real2:39 - Jayson’s Depression3:46 - Everyone is Different4:21 - Batting .1006:15 - Appreciation7:09 - Saying It Out Loud9:03 - Focus on the Positives10:10 - Small Changes Everyday11:22 - Different Attributes12:37 - Everybody is Here for Something13:29 - Cut Out Negativity15:03 - The World is Unfair16:01 - Helping People
Today on the show we’re talking with Barry Sanders about his esteemed football career, winning the heisman, breaking records, and being inducted into the Hall of Fame. Barry talks about how he is always raising his own bar, there is never a “top”, you’re always working, and grinding to achieve your goals.Even as a young kid Barry was consumed by football, he would watch the games every week, go out and throw the ball around, and even play his electronic football games. It was no surprise that he would go on to be one of the greatest players of all time. Barry grew up with 10 siblings, he learned how to compete with his brothers at a young age, that taught him to keep pushing himself.Barry always loved what he did and he saw success when the team succeeded, he could have had the all time rushing record in his rookie season, but he let the guys who didn’t get to play often in. He never had to prove anything to anyone but himself.Staying in the moment and not looking too far ahead has been Barry’s motto his whole life. He played with guys in high school who thought they were going to the NFL. Barry knew that he had to take things one step at a time, and become the best without losing focus on where he was. Links:  Follow True Underdog on IG: www.instagram.com/true_underdogReach out to Jayson directly at jayson@trueunderdog.comFollow Jayson on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jayson-waller-/Follow Jayson on Instagram: www.instagram.com/jaysonwallerbamCheck out our website to meet the team, view show notes and transcripts: www.trueunderdog.comApply for a chance to receive a $10,000 business grant: https://trueunderdog.com/underdog-achievers-program/ Timestamps: 1:50 - Barry Sanders’ Family Life3:27 - Struggles in Life7:35 - Developing a Competitive Drive9:40 - Barry’s Mentors13:01 - Pivotal Moments in Life15:49 - Treating Mistakes as Lessons18:36 - Getting Recruited24:18 - Playing College Football as a Freshman28:45 - Learning From Successful Players31:07 - Biggest Accomplishments in Football34:51 - Getting Recognized for Working Hard37:21 - Selflessness40:14 - Using Teamwork to Succeed41:28 - Coaches44:39 - Bringing out Motivation45:53 - Difficulty of Getting Into the NFL50:18 - Stay in the Moment52:19 - You are What You Do Everyday55:02 - Raising Your Own Bar58:15 - Hall of Fame1:01:10 - Post Football1:05:18 - Players Define the Game

Whether you are starting a new business or trying to rise through one, you need to stay all in! That’s what Jayson does with everything in his life. He’s had the success that he has, because out works everyone he works with. Through working hard, and applying yourself day after day, you can start to develop talents that will continue to build because you now have a solid foundation to work from. It’s not easy to put in all your effort everyday, there are some days that are harder than others, but that’s where the success lies. Those tough days, when you’re at your weakest, that’s when you need to pull yourself up and start going. Put in the work, put in the effort, and you’ll see just how much farther hard work can take you than talent.Links: Follow True Underdog on IG: www.instagram.com/true_underdogReach out to Jayson directly at jayson@trueunderdog.comFollow Jayson on Linkedin: https://www.linkedin.com/in/jayson-waller-/Follow John on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/john-leblanc-333a3b14Follow Jayson on Instagram: www.instagram.com/jaysonwallerbamCheck out our website to meet the team, view show notes and transcripts: www.trueunderdog.comTimestamps:1:17 - Hard Work Beats Talent4:33 - All In7:08 - Share Your Knowledge9:24 - Born Without Talent13:12 - Needing Acceptance16:54 - 2 Keys of Business20:54 - Success is Not Owned, It’s Rented24:22 - Hard Work Pays Off
Many businesses and entrepreneurs fail when starting up because they don’t have a proper plan in place. Not just something to get you started, but a plan for the next 8 or 9 years down the road. Jayson, Jeff, Bryan and Jeff talk about looking ahead, and creating an action plan on how to get there, performing that plan every day.The business world moves very fast, that’s why getting complacent in business is like going backwards. If you’re not working to improve your business every single day, other people will be doing that work, and they will surpass you. As Wayne Gretzky once said, “Go where the puck will be, not where it is”.Staying comfortable means you’re not growing, it means you aren’t trying new things and learning from mistakes and successes! You need to get comfortable with being uncomfortable!
