Do you feel like you are a leading lady?   In this episode, I sat down with Sabrina Mapp, and we dug into authenticity, discovering our strength, and showing up as the leading lady that we want to be.   Sabrina is a nerdy, introverted, idealist. A late Gen X-er and maybe a bit of a late bloomer, she is currently living her life backward. Her new favorite quote is “If you think adventure is dangerous, try routine – it’s lethal”. – Paulo Coelho    Sabrina has worked in Web Development at several prestigious companies including IBM, National Geographic, and most recently Georgetown University Law Center. She started her company, Astrid Digital, in January 2020, just in time for the pandemic to hit. Astrid Digital specializes in social media strategy and marketing for small to medium businesses.    Since mid-2020, Sabrina has been training for a career in voiceover acting and recently launched a new website for her voiceover career, Sabrina Mapp, Voiceover.   She is sharing her story, energy, and vibrance in this episode to inspire and challenge you to take the reins on your own life and truly become a strong leading lady.   Show notes available at www.leadinglady-coaching.com/podcast   Have you joined the Leading Ladies Facebook Group yet?! Personal brand photography is vital to success, but taking portraits can feel overwhelming and intimidating. Don’t you agree?   I am not someone who likes to be photographed, but my guest today, Maureen Porto, has a way of making me feel comfortable and confident while she photographs me.   Maureen Porto is an award-winning portrait photographer specializing in business portraits and personal branding photography. Her Annapolis, Maryland studio serves clients from all over the DC Metropolitan area, and she travels from coast to coast.   She joined me to talk about the importance of personal branding and using photography as a way to help female entrepreneurs stand out and elevate their brands.   I have been working with Maureen for quite some time, and I am constantly in awe of how she can capture the beauty, power, and legacy of women in business.    If you know that you should get photos taken but are nervous, listen to this episode. Maureen will help you find the confidence you need.   Resources Mentioned:  www.maureenporto.com   Show notes available at www.leadinglady-coaching.com/podcast   Have you joined the Leading Ladies Facebook Group yet?! You don’t have to upend your life to make animal and environmentally-friendly choices.    Topics like climate change and deforestation can be really overwhelming to think about. After all, how much of a difference can one person really make? The truth is, we need everyone’s effort. Taking steps to be more environmentally friendly will make an impact. Every small action adds up to big changes.   In this episode of the Leading Lady podcast, Crystal DiMiceli joined me to talk about how we can make a difference in our environment even with the tiniest of changes.    Crystal was that little girl who loved animals and brought home strays whenever her parents would allow it (that may still be her M.O.!). She was that teenager who watched a show about pollution and vowed to stop it when she grew up. But, she’s also that woman that loves to travel to far-off places on fossil fuel-guzzling airplanes while wearing leather shoes.    She may not be the perfect example of how to do eco- and animal-friendly 100% “right”, but she makes every effort possible. She does her research, makes conscious choices, and listens to both sides of the aisle. She wants to bring attention to the good things that are happening so that we can elevate and scale up these acts so that they, ideally, become the norm. She understands that nothing is black and white, there are many shades of grey. Although, she prefers to say many shades of green.    You don’t have to be perfect to be environmentally conscious. It all starts with one small change. We are so much more powerful than you may think, especially together. Make sure to tune in to learn how you can start making more environmentally conscious decisions in your life today.    Resources Mentioned:  Follow Crystal on Facebook Follow Crystal on Instagram Becoming a Force for Nature free guide   Show notes available at www.leadinglady-coaching.com/podcast   Have you joined the Leading Ladies Facebook Group yet?! Have you ever thought about hiring a business coach?    I talk to so many women on discovery calls who are trying to decide if hiring a coach is the right move for them. The decision to hire a business coach or life coach is a big one, so you don’t want to go into this decision without doing your research and knowing what exactly you need and what to look for.    I am a firm believer that everyone needs a therapist and everyone needs a coach. These are two very different things that will help you in different areas of your life. In this episode of Leading Lady, I’m sharing everything you need to know before you hire your first coach.    Not all coaching is equal, and I want you to have the best experience possible.    Tune in to this episode to learn more about what you need to know when searching for a coach, red flags to avoid, questions to ask, and so much more.    Show notes available at www.leadinglady-coaching.com/podcast   Resources Mentioned:  Book a complimentary call: https://leadinglady-coaching.com/   Have you joined the Leading Ladies Facebook Group yet?! We all need a break sometimes.    In this week's episode of The Leading Lady Podcast, I am talking about the importance of taking a break. You don’t need to wait for an opening to get a break or a “good time” to take a vacation, you can schedule these breaks or vacations into your life whenever you need them.    I know it can seem impossible to do because, as entrepreneurs and high-achieving women, we are never away or cut off from our businesses, and we are the decision-makers so it’s hard to step away like that, but what you need to do is plan ahead so that you can take a successful break.    Tune in to learn more about my top tips for getting the rest and rejuvenation you need.    Show notes available at www.leadinglady-coaching.com/podcast   Have you joined the Leading Ladies Facebook Group yet?! Let’s talk about the power of saying no.    By that, I mean sometimes when we say “no”, we are actually saying “yes”. Now I know what you may be thinking- no means no, right? I get that!    By saying no to something, you are often saying yes to something else. In this week’s episode of Leading Lady, I am diving into why saying no to what doesn’t light you up means saying yes to the things that matter.    Oftentimes when I am working with clients, setting boundaries, both personal and professional, is something that they really want to work on. They want to achieve the highly sought-after work-life balance and find more time for their passions, and they know that setting boundaries is the key to making that happen.   Some people just struggle to say no to things that don’t feel right for them. But when you say yes to that thing, what are you actually saying no to? Are you saying no to the time and freedom to do the things that really light you up and fuel your fire?    In order to be your best, most authentic self, you have to prioritize things that align with your mission, vision, and values. That means being careful about what you say yes to so that you can prioritize the things that are truly important to you and your business.   Tune in to this episode to learn more about why it is so important to prioritize the things that truly light you up and learn to say no to the things that don’t.    Show notes available at www.leadinglady-coaching.com/podcast   Resources Mentioned:  Schedule a call with me: https://leadinglady-coaching.com/private-coaching/   Have you joined the Leading Ladies Facebook Group yet?! Are you a working mom?   In today’s episode of Leading Lady, I’m talking about the unique challenges and circumstances I have faced as a working mom myself. Before you think that this episode is about how much harder it is being a working mom than it is for other women in business, I want to say that I have tried very hard not to tie up my identity in motherhood.    I believe that we are unique and whole just as women alone. Our roles as moms and entrepreneurs are just other facets of us.    This is why I am not a fan of words like mompreneur and mom boss. They get under my skin because my husband has never been called a dadpreneur or a dad boss. In general, men don’t lead with parenthood as their identifier.    I’m not going to debate who has it harder in this episode, glorify working moms, or minimize women building careers without children. The purpose of this episode is simply to share that yes, I am a mom, I do run my own businesses alongside raising my family, and it does present some challenges.   If you are a mom and you want to feel validated, seen, heard, or just get some tips on how to balance it all, make sure to tune in to this episode.    Show notes available at www.leadinglady-coaching.com/podcast Have you joined the Leading Ladies Facebook Group yet?! Let’s talk about consistency!    In business, it is so important that you show up consistently. This is one of the most important factors of success, but how do you choose what platform to be consistent on? There are many to choose from, but you don’t have to be on them all if that doesn't feel right to you.    For me, it’s all about the platform that I feel most comfortable on. This is important for me to feel like my most authentic self. It’s easy to get lost in all of the latest social media trends and feel overwhelmed with trying to keep up with it all.    The truth is, if you try to show up on all of these platforms that you don’t normally spend your time on, it’s just not going to feel good to you, and it’s hard to stay consistent with something that doesn’t feel good.   If dancing in Reels or on TikTok doesn’t feel right, then don’t! There are no rules for what you do and don’t have to do to be successful in your business. You are in charge of your business choices.    Tune in to this episode of Leading Lady to hear more about how to find the right platform for your business, how to show up consistently, tips for choosing topics to share, and how to nurture your relationship with your audience.    This episode is packed with tips, you don’t want to miss it!    Resources Mentioned:  Book a coaching call   Get The Top Five Mistakes I’ve Made In Difficult Conversations Show notes available at www.leadinglady-coaching.com/podcast Have you joined the Leading Ladies Facebook Group yet?! Kind of… I was watching a Zac Efron movie (you’ll have to tune in to find out which one) that ended with an unexpectedly powerful message, and naturally I immediately wanted to talk about it with you.    The message is one about leaving behind narratives that no longer serve you, being your true self, and embracing a growth mindset. Women in the corporate world are often told that they have to put their work before everything else in order to be successful or in order to climb the corporate ladder, they can’t “be difficult”.    In today's episode of the Leading Lady podcast, I sat down with Susan Shingledecker to hear the incredible story of how she knew her worth and values and stood up for herself, even when it was uncomfortable.    Susan is Executive Director of Earth Science Information Partners, a national nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering the use of data to solve our planet’s greatest challenges. Well, the secret is you can’t.    If you see someone who looks like they have it all together and they’re doing all the things, I promise you they have a support system behind them helping them get it all done.    I think it’s important for us to talk about this more so that we can break down the idea that you should be doing it all on your own. Welcome to the 200th episode of the Leading Lady podcast!   I can’t believe I’m already celebrating four years of podcasting! Whether you’re a long-time listener or this is the first episode you’re clicking on, thank you for being here.    As I was reflecting on this milestone and what I wanted to talk about in this episode, I started thinking about how, even 200 episodes in, sometimes I don’t feel confident in myself; imposter syndrome still creeps in. I know that we all deal with imposter syndrome, it’s a vicious cycle that so many women in leadership and entrepreneurship find themselves in, so what better topic to unpack together in this episode?    I’m sharing what imposter syndrome looks like for me, why it’s so common amongst entrepreneurs, and the key to overcoming it every time it rises up.    Topics covered in this episode include: Why you experience imposter syndrome  How to break out of the culture of comparison  The beauty in knowing that no one else in the world is you    If you often find yourself struggling with imposter syndrome, I hope this episode will help!   Show notes available at www.leadinglady-coaching.com/podcast   Resources Mentioned:  Book a Call with Me: leadinglady-coaching.com/work-with-me    Have you joined the Leading Ladies Facebook Group yet?!
