Apologies one and all for the delayed upload! May Day has got us all over the place, thinking it’s Monday today. Thanks to those that messaged while tuned in on Sunday. We really miss doing the Bank Holiday weekend shows live. Hopefully it won’t be too long now.Music and ground covered this week is a nice mix of reggae, footwork, soul and more. We play some new old music we’ve purchased and generally give a bit of a better account of ourselves than the previous show.Get in touch at nighttrain93.2[at]gmail[dot]com or https://www.twitter.com/RadioNightTrain on the tweets. To experience the show (sorta) live n direct.. tune into Sheffield Live, Sundays 9pm-11pm on 93.2FM, via the TuneIn Radio App or www.sheffieldlive.orgSHOW NOTESDavid Holmes sits in For Mary-Anne Hobbs in the Breezeblock https://www.mixcloud.com/oldschooltapes/david-holmes-sits-in-for-mary-anne-hobbs-in-the-breezeblock/R.L. It's the long over-due return of a guest mix on TNT! Can't remember when the last one was, possibly Steve's when he decided to do his own guest mix. Not sure that should count though. So for this proper mix, it's from our good friend, Figure Of Wax. A northern soul and an all-round party DJ. He's just started an excellent monthly radio show, Liner Notes, on Steam Radio outta MCR so thought it right for him to hawk his wares on our shambles of a show! The rest of the show is also great. To be honest, the only thing that lets it down is our links. In our defence we'd had a late night and it takes us time to recover. Kinda think they still sounded cohesive/funny. Please let us know if that's not the case!Get in touch at nighttrain93.2[at]gmail[dot]com or https://www.twitter.com/RadioNightTrain on the tweets. To experience the show (sorta) live n direct.. tune into Sheffield Live, Sundays 9pm-11pm on 93.2FM, via the TuneIn Radio App or www.sheffieldlive.orgSHOW NOTESDark Side of the Moon - Chip Tunehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h0Yg0GAX5vw&list=PL7E74E32198876508This ish Bangs Vol 8https://thirstyear.bandcamp.com/album/this-ish-bangs-vol-8Melodies Internationalhttps://www.melodiesinternational.com/aboutLiner Notes on Steam Radio MCRhttps://www.mixcloud.com/figureofwax/Stone Coal White Storyhttps://web.archive.org/web/20110718103638/http://numerogroup.wordpress.com/2011/07/12/needle-drop-stone-coal-white/Night Train Numbers Playlisthttps://open.spotify.com/playlist/5KS2mRCQuniGM4M0vzdGesPrime Cuts on John Peelhttps://www.mixcloud.com/oldschooltapes/scratch-perverts-on-the-john-peel-show-1997/

You know, it kinda feels like these shows are gettin' better. We're not a slick operation by any means but that's not why you tune in, right? This week sees us playing a nice blend of the old and new. Some stuff from comps, some stuff from albums, some stuff we heard on the radio and some stuff we heard on Twitter.Apologies these blurbs aren't that exciting, we're tryin' our best! Today has been confusing. A classic "Tuesday that feels like a Monday". This is why this blurb will be minimal. The show is great though... a classic Easter Show. That means a sweet mix of tunes and we're both a bit "loose".Get in touch nighttrain93.2[at]gmail[dot]com or https://www.twitter.com/RadioNightTrain on the tweets. Please do, as this means we have something to mention when we're recording links. Around a year ago would have been the 50th anniversary of the David Mancuso throwing his 1st Love Saves The Day party at The Loft. It was the first show that fell foul of us not being allowed in the studio so it's been languishing on a HD for a year.Well, now is the time to enjoy it! Listen in wonder to tales from NYC. Do you know, it feels like so long since this was broadcast, can't really remember what was on the show. This means we're gonna have to listen again on a speed-run. Well this is embarrassing. Due to a mistake by Steve, the upload we sent to Greg at Sheffield Live was full of silence. Not cool silence like 4′33″ by John Cage, but actual radio silence. This means that the emergency sustain cut in and played (at points), America, Nirvana and Coldplay. Worse than that, it might have set an alarm off and woke up the station manager. So, we've fixed it now and we're uploading the show here while it's still going out. What a shambles. If we're allowed back on the station, we'll be back next week with less silence and mistakes. Please get in touch to ask for request or shout-out at;nighttrain93.2[at]gmail[dot]com or https://www.twitter.com/RadioNightTrain on the tweets. Please do, as this means we have something to mention when we're recording links. Finally, a normal show! It feels like it's been forever. We don't do it on purpose, we promise. Back on the airwaves and Information Superhighway with show number 231. For unknown reasons*, there is no new music this week, just old music. But don't let that put you off. There's harps, early 90's break-beats, Brasilian breaks, hot chat and a few anniversary picks. Also, for the Remember! Hi everybody! What you're lookin' at here is our 2hr tip of the hat to New Orleans. We did it for a number of reasons, the most important being that we remembered to do it in time for Fat Tuesday/Mardi Gras/Pancake Day. We cover lots of ground here, takin' in a number of different styles from The Big Easy and music from the last 90ish years and even an Ant-Valentines Day mini-mix for the broken-hearted.Remember! Good Morning all you lovers of great music and hot chat. It's time for another edition of The Night Train. The other day we mentioned that we'd been doin' a lot of theme shows and this week is a 241!To celebrate 15 years since the release of J Dilla's "Donuts" and "Anti-War Dub by Digital Mystikz we've sprinkled some Dilla delights throughout the show and Powlo's dusted off his dubstep wax for a 30 minute 2006 rinseout.Remember! After a month of theme shows, it's back to normal for this week. What you won't be able to tell is that there were multiple problems but due to our editing skillz, it's a seamless show.We play some new-ish stuff, some random stuff and some stuff that didn't make it into the last few them shows.Remember! Despite nobody asking for it, we're back with a part two of our trip down memory lane. Back to a time of tapes in cars, youthful adventures and having way too much time on our hands. Those with a keen ear will notice that Steve's got a new mic. But to be honest, we're not sure if anyone listens. We're not entirely sure anyone reads these blurbs. Perhaps we should run some sort of competition.Remember! During Lockdown #2, we restarted our Album Club with a "Album released when you were 18" round. It got us thinking, what else were we listening to when we were 18. Well, here is a snapshot of what was playing in our car stereos, Minidisc players, Walkmen etc. Some of it is from '99. Some of it is from 2000. Some of it is from earlier. All in all, it's a decent snapshot of what the two of us were bumpin' at the time. Hope you enjoy it as much as 18 year old Paul and Steve would!Remember! On New Years Eve, the news broke of the passing of DOOM. It only seemed right to make a tribute show for Metal Face. We're not talking on this one which (believe it or not) presents it's own challenges. Hopefully we've managed to make a mix that keeps you entertained for two hours. It covers 1989-2019 which TBH is pretty damn impressive for a rapper to stay relevant. Happy New Year one and all! (Are we too far past 1st Jan to say that?). We hope you're all well and have had a safe festive period. Due to bad planning on our behalf, we didn't record in 8 Wheels Studio last week. Instead, what we've got for you is an hour of TNT mixes we've done for people! The 1st 30mins is our NYE mix for Chris Welch's Sounds Like This. The 2nd 30mins is an all soul 45s guest mix we did for A Casual Affair. We're planning on gettin' back behind the mic (and wheel) this week with a DOOM special.Drop us a message with a favourite track or feature at nighttrain93.2[at]gmail[dot]com or https://www.twitter.com/RadioNightTrain on the tweets. To experience the show (sorta) live n direct.. tune into Sheffield Live, Sundays 9pm-11pm on 93.2FM, via the TuneIn Radio App or www.sheffieldlive.org
Finally! It's what the world has been waiting for... another "Best of" show from two chancers on Community Radio. It's been a strange year (we probably don't need to tell you that) so finding new music has been a bit different this year. We still managed to find some and cobbled together this show from our home studios (spare rooms). Hopefully we'll be back in 8 Wheels Studio for the 1st show of 2021.Remember! Due to reasons, there wasn't a show from 8 Wheels Studio yesterday. Instead we broadcast the music from this show. As folks like to hear our on-air-chemistry, we're uploading the actual show from 2018.It's 120 minutes of songs with a festive lilt. Soundtrack the eating of sprouts with annoying family members with our festive picks. Guaranteed to cause some strange looks from loved ones. We're hopefully gonna be back next week with our Best of 2018 show... get in touch if you've got anything that's been floating your boat.f you like what you hear join us live (almost) every Sunday 9pm-11pm on SheffieldLive! 93.2fm, via the TuneIn Radio App or www.sheffieldlive.orgGet in touch with requests, recommendations and guest mix inquiries! We're also available for family functions, weddings, funerals, boat launches and more.
We promised it, and here it is! 1,432 since part one, it’s our Global Sounds Special pt 2 “Country Chaos”.Recorded on a wet night in 8 Wheels Studio*, this show is an audio adventure taking in spots around the world for 2 hours of music that isn’t from The UK or The US. This kind of show is a lot of fun to make and even more fun trying to pronounce all the names of the artists. This week there’s a lot of homework/procrastination fodder/bonus material to get your chops around. Perfect if you’re just clock watching until you’re off for Christmas. One thing of note, if you’re reading this on the day of upload, be sure to wish Paul a happy birthday!Remember! There weren't enough hours to get our show done last week, so we had a week off. Fear not Listen Again Crew, we've got you covered! We're giving you a chance to listen to our guest appearance on Sounds Like This with Chris Welch.Chris has been on Sheffield Live since the beginning. Which explains why he's a lot more polished than our shambles of a show. He's on air Sundays 5-7pm. on Sheffield Live. Now into its 13th year, the show covers the upfront and classic from soul to house to afro-latin tackle and everything in between! It's a staple in both our houses on a Sunday night. Perfect listening for when you're cooking.https://www.mixcloud.com/soundslikethisradio/https://www.facebook.com/soundslikethisradioAfter a lot of big talk going back and forth between two of Sheffield Live's finest Sunday evening shows, we decided to mark 13 years of Sounds Like This and 5 years of The Night Train with a versus.Categories included: 'I cleared the floor with this but I stand by it' and 'Secret Weapon' amongst others. It was a lot of fun, arguably a score draw and no need for scuffles in the Paternoster Row car park to settle the debate.
