Hakam Sufi (Punjabi: ਹਾਕਮ ਸੂਫ਼ੀ) was a noted Punjabi singer as well as a songwriter. He was known for his songs like, paani vich maaran deetan from a Punjabi film and more. Known for his clean and pure style of music, Hakam Sufi stayed away from vulgarity and bawdy lyrics. Untrapped by commercial interests, Sufi, who worked as a school teacher remained dedicated to pristine pure music till his death.
Sufi remained single throughout his life, primarily so that he could dedicate himself to music and to bringing up his siblings. A very close associate of legendary singer Gurdas Mann, both singers belonged to Gidderbaha in Sri Muktsar Sahib district of Indian Punjab. He started singing at a very early age during his schooldays.
His major song was the Chhalla, though Sufi himself conceded in a television interview that it was when Gurdas Maan has sung the song, that it reached great heights. Pani vich maaran deetan, Mere charkhe di tutt gaee maalh, Kithe laaye ne sajjana dere, Dil vatte di, and "Dil tarhpe ashiq da were his major songs.

She says she does not have any training in classical music. In 2004 her rendition of Ashkan Di Gali Vich Mukaam De Gaya was in the top ten of the Indian charts.
Reshma once said in an interview, "I was born in a family of saudagars in Rajasthan in a small settlement called Bikaner. I don't know the year I was born but I was told that I was brought to Pakistan when I was a few months old in 1947. My family would take camels from Bikaner and sell them in other areas, and bring back goats and cows from elsewhere to sell at home. I belong to a huge clan of gypsies. We were forever travelling around. Though a lot of us have now settled and taken up permanent residences in Lahore and Karachi, whenever we feel restless we pack our bags and move on."
Raj Kapoor, (born December 14, 1924, Peshawar, India [now in Pakistan]—died June 2, 1988, New Delhi), Indian motion-picture actor and director whose Hindi-language films were popular throughout India, the Middle East, the Soviet Union, and China.

Shaunki was born as Amar Singh on 15 August 1916, in a Sikh family to father Sardar Moola Singh, in the village of Bhajjlan (now Hoshiarpur district) in British Punjab (British India). He hailed from a farmer family and never went to school but learned Punjabi (Gurmukhi) from the other educated persons.
He was very much interested in folk music from his childhood and learned it from Sant Baba Maan Singh of Sialkot. At first, he sang under last name Mast but as started singing with Dhadd and Sarangi and made a team with Sarwan Singh and Mohan Singh Binda, he fixed Shaunki as his last name. The main themes of his songs evoke the culture and folk of Punjab. He sang about every color of Punjabi folk. The main themes of his songs were the evergreen folk stories of Punjab like Heer Ranjha, Mirza Sahiban, Sassui Punnhun, Rani Surendran, and Pooran Bhagat, heroes of Sikh history likes Hari Singh Nalwa, the Sikh masters and other freedom fighters. He wrote songs on various topics including the four tragic love stories of Punjab, Sikh histories like Saka Sirhind and Sikh heroes. Many Punjabi singers today, including Manmohan Waris and Kamal Heer sings songs written by him.

Vasanth Kumar Shivashankar Padukone, famously known as Guru Dutt, was a renowned Indian filmmaker, most remembered for his cult classics such as ‘Pyaasa’ and ‘Kaagaz Ke Phool’. He was one of the greatest icons of commercial Indian cinema of all time and his movies were some of the best made. His style of film making was very contemporary, sometimes ahead of his generation which is evident from the fact that he first used close-up shots with 100mm lens camera in his films which later became famous as 'Guru Dutt Shots' in the Indian cinema. Ironically his films earned recognition and interest much later in the 1970s and the 1980s and have received a cult following in the recent past. His movies dealt with a wide range of subjects such as love, poverty, unemployment, equality and social values. In addition to being a great director, he was also a phenomenal artist who excelled in action, production, writing and even choreography. He had a difficult marriage and that probably led to his untimely death at the age of just 39. Despite all his struggles, his imaginative use of light and shade, and a striking ability to weave multiple thematic layers into his narratives, he is considered as one of the greatest filmmakers of Indian cinema.
Amar Singh Chamkila was born as Dunni Ram on July 21, 1960, in the village of Dugri near Ludhiana Punjab. He was born into a poor family and was from the Chamar caste. The youngest child of Kartar Kaur and Hari Singh, he was educated at Gujar Khan Primary School in Dugri. His aspirations of becoming an electrician were unfulfilled and he found work at a Ludhiana cloth mill. With a natural aptitude for music, he learned to play the harmonium and dholki. Punjabi folk musician Surinder Shinda has said that in 1978, Chamkila approached him for the first time on a bicycle. When Shinda heard the 18-year-old Chamkila sing, he had finally found the protege that he had been looking for. Chamkila would go onto play alongside Punjabi folk artists such as K. Deep, Mohammad Saddiq, and Surinder Shinda. He wrote several songs for Shinda and accompanied him as a member of his entourage before deciding to pursue a solo career. It is rumored that Chamkila was happy enough to write songs, but he wasn't earning enough money to look after his family, so had to start singing.

Tanuja and Nutan are the daughters of the famed Shobhna Samarth. Sati was also aunt-by-marriage to Ram Mukherjee, who would subsequently marry and give birth to Raj Mukherjee and Bollywood actress, Rani Mukerji. Ashok's daughter is a noted Bollywood actress, Preeti Ganguli, who is married to comedian and character actor, Deven Verma. Ashok's grand-daughter is actress, Anuradha Patel.
While Ashok went on to become a successful actor, Abhas, who was renamed Kishore, shunned acting and preferred singing and mimicking K.L. Saigal. His brother, Anoop, while struggling to make a name himself, noticed this, and encouraged Kishore to sing in his voice.

He still appeared in a few films in Hindi, such as in Chaalbaaz with Sridevi, Uttar Dakshan, Geraftaar and Hum. He made his Hollywood debut with the movie Bloodstone in 1988 with much fanfare in India at the time of its release. However, the movie failed in the United States.
Rajinikanth's first film was in Tamil cinema, where he was initially cast in supporting roles, debuting as a cancer patient in Apoorva Raagangal in 1975. The film was directed by K. Balachander, who is constantly referred to by Rajinikanth as his own guru or mentor.
