The QMU Podcast is back after a summer break! In this episode, Keith is joined by the University's Head of Student Services, Jessica Lindohf, and Students' Union Vice-President Andy White for a chat about what students can expect when they set foot on campus this month and what's available to them from both the Uni and the SU. Our guests also share their top tips for making the most of the student experience, as well as their Netflix and board game recommendations for those upcoming autumn months.
Keith is joined by Dr Olivia Sagan, Head of the Division of Psychology, Sociology and Education and QMU's Wellbeing Adviser Louise Gill to talk about loneliness and isolation during lockdown, and how we can look after our mental health and wellbeing in these challenging times. They also give us their book recommendations and discuss how they have been keeping well in their spare time - from running, cooking and sketching to improving Spanish language skills and catching up on some trashy TV! Students can get in touch with the University’s wellbeing service by emailing wellbeing@qmu.ac.uk. There are also links to helpful resources on the wellbeing section of the QMU website - https://www.qmu.ac.uk/study-here/student-services/wellbeing-service. Staff can access support through the ‘besupported’ Employee Assistance Programme, their HR Partner or trade union representative, and can also find wellbeing advice on the QMU@Home section of the website.
QMU 4th year nursing students, Isabelle Mackie, Niamh McLeish and Gemma Ferris are joined by QMU's Division of Nursing Programme Leader, Lesley McKinlay, to talk about their experiences going from being on student placements in health care settings to being Band 4 nurses contributing to the COVID-19 effort.
Students' Union (QMUSU) President Chiara Menozzi and RES:LIFE Coordinator Alice Kerr join Keith to discuss support for students during the COVID-19 pandemic, popular items from the campus pop-up shop, Netflix Party, ABBA and more!
Queen Margaret University graduate and Students' Union trustee Keith Easton chats with our Principal and Vice-Chancellor, Sir Paul Grice, about the University's response to COVID-19 and how the QMU community can stay connected in these challenging times.
