Welcome to this weeks episode of The ABC's of Rock. On this show I feature the amazing 90's funk metal/alt-rock band that most certainly should be celebrated for much more than their hit acoustic ballad, 'More Than Words". I'm talking about Extreme. Happy 4th of July weekend everyone!I continue with the theme of New Wave and Synth Pop for at least one more week as we move on to the letter D which is represented by Duran Duran. They are one of the bands that were a major part of my childhood in the early 80s as I grew up watching MTV waiting with heightened anticipation for their videos to show up. On this episode I curate 10 songs that I feel were underrated/under-appreciated from the first half of their recording career (up through their 1993 release, Duran Duran aka The Wedding Album). I sincerely hope you enjoy this episode and let me know what you think of the show. I'd love to hear from you.I do not own the rights to any of the music played on this podcast. This week is the inaugural episode featuring a specific genre of music. It's been building towards this for a while, especially with my co-host urging me to focus an entire episode on her favorite style of music, New Wave. On this show I've curated 10 songs from bands/musicians from both sides of the pond that fall under the very big umbrella of New Wave. Most of the bands here are very well known for at least one or two huge hits, but as always on The ABC's of Rock, we're going to showcase music you may have not been aware of from these extremely gifted artists. So tune and and lets all expand our horizons in the the glorious world of New Wave!I do not own the rights to any of the music played on this podcast. Call it Goth Rock, Alt Rock, New Wave, Post Punk, it doesn't matter...The Cure blazed their own path and created their own style of music. We all have our own personal "Concert Bucket List". On this weeks episode I share ten of my favorite bands/musicians that I haven't had the privilege of seeing LIVE in concert in my life. I did establish some criteria for this list. It has to be physically possible for me to actually see them live at some point. So they have to be a ALIVE, and ACTIVE. I never got to see David Bowie live, and I just never will....I have to live with that. So someone like him isn't on this list. This list is 10 bands/artists that I feel I do have a legitimate shot at seeing in concert before they hang it up for good. I hope you enjoy this one...it's full of lots of hard rock and metal. Plus this week includes the long awaited return of my daughter Chloe as my co-host. She wasn't a fan of much of the music, but we still had a great time bantering about the songs.I do not own the rights to any of the music played on this podcast. This is technically episode #2 of the podcast originally released on April 30th, 2020. It was unfortunately removed because of copyright infringement. I've learned my lesson not to mess with The Beatles. But I didn't want a gap in my library of podcasts so I've removed the music from this episode and have included Spotify links if you want to follow along and listen to the music. Chances are though if you're as big a Beatles fan as I am you are already familiar with all of these songs. It's not like there is much that is classified as an "underrated" song in their catalogue. We celebrate this week another 80s icon and a true pioneer leading the way for women in Rock, Pat Benatar. I pull no punches as I share my opinions on her entire catalogue of music on this retrospective of her career. Every year the bands and musicians that don't get inducted into the Rock 'N Roll Hall of Fame is staggering. To be clear, I really don't care one way or the other. The Hall is a private organization and they have their right to invite whomever they want to their party. They are not the arbiters of taste and quality, hence I really don't get up in arms when my favorite bands continue to be left out. However, today's episode is dedicated to those bands that if I were in charge would no doubt have been inducted a long time ago. This is no no way a comprehensive list or even my top 10 list. It's simply 10 deserving bands/musicians that I personally feel are worthy of the call.I do not own the rights to any of the music played on this podcast. It's time to officially launch back into the alphabet again. We begin things off with one of the biggest rock stars of the 80s and 90s, Bryan Adams, whose yo-yo'ing career brought to his fans some of the most iconic music of their lives.
