They can choose anything from an item, to a memory, a film or even a country. Four of them are things they want to preserve but one has to be something they’re happy to bury and never have to think about again.

Liam Withnail is an award winning comedian. He co-hosts the popular podcast Enjoy an Album, which was nominated for Best Podcast at the Chortle Awards 2024. Tom Shakespeare CBE is Professor of Disability Research at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine and was the 2020 Swarthmore Lecturer. Tom has achondroplasia and uses a wheelchair. He is a social scientist and bioethicist who has worked particularly on disability and on genetics. His books include Disability Rights and Wrongs, Genetic Politics, and Disability – the Basics. Tom has presented programmes and documentaries on BBC Radio and has written for publications including The Guardian and The Lancet, alongside talking to academic, professional and lay audiences around the world. In July 2018 Shakespeare was elected a Fellow of the British Academy. He has been a stand-up comedian, an actor, a dancer, and an artist. Professor Sophie Scott is a neuroscientist and the Director of the Institute for Cognitive Neuroscience. Her research investigates the cognitive neuroscience of voices, speech and laughter, particularly speech perception, production, vocal emotions and human communication Sophie started her research career in Cambridge at the Medical Research Council (MRC) Cognition and Brain Sciences Unit She was awarded a Wellcome Trust Fellowship in 2001 and has been funded by them since. As of 2017 she holds a Wellcome Trust Senior Fellowship. She is a member of the British Psychological Society, the Society for Neuroscience, the Cognitive Neuroscience Society, and the Experimental Psychology Society. She’s a Fellow of the British Academy. Sophie is known for her public engagement work, including performing standup comedy. She’s been a panel guest several times on BBC Radio 4 programme The Infinite Monkey Cage and appeared on the BBC TV series Horizon, The Science of Laughter with Jimmy Carr. Sophie presented the Royal Institution Christmas Lectures in 2017 entitled The Language of Life which explored the topic of communication. Jon Holmes is a comedian, writer, presenter, producer and broadcaster who has won two BAFTAs, nine Gold Sony Radio Awards and two British Comedy Awards. He’s presented major radio shows on BBC Radio 1, BBC Radio 2, BBC 6Music, Virgin Radio, XFM, Takradio, LBC and Radio X. On Radio 4, he co-created Dead Ringers, he wrote and appearing in The Now Show and The 99p Challenge where he first worked with Armando Iannucci. He also worked with Armando on Gash on Channel 4 and Time Trumpet on BBC2 and in 2006 he received his sixth Sony Award for his work on Armando Iannucci's Charm Offensive on Radio 4. Lewis MacLeod is a Scottish actor best known for voicing characters and his impressions. He was in Star Wars: Episode 1 - The Phantom Menace as the voice of Sebulba (the podracer who competes against young Anakin Skywalker), he is currently the voice of Postman Pat and he regularly appeared on BBC Radio 2's Steve Wright in the Afternoon voicing impressions of Jeremy Vine, Donald Trump and Paul McCartney. Professor Alice Roberts is and academic and presenter who has presented more than a hundred television documentaries, ranging across human biology, history and archaeology. Her longest running series, BBC Two’s Digging for Britain has been going strong for more than ten years. She first appeared on television in 2001, as a human bone specialist on Channel 4’s Time Team. Larry Dann is a British actor best known for his roles in the Carry On... Series and for appearing as Sergeant Alec Peters in over 200 episodes of The Bill. His first appearance on screen was in Adam and Evelyn at age 5. Afterward, he would appear in Carry On Teacher, Trouble in Store and The Bulldog Breed. He continued appearing in films as he grew up, appearing in What a Crazy World, All Neat in Black Stockings, The Body Stealers and Before Winter Comes and rejoined the Carry On... Series with small roles in Carry On Behind and Carry On England before playing the young romantic lead in Carry On Emmannuelle. He joined the Theatre Workshop in 1962 and appeared in numerous plays directed by Joan Littlewood including Oh, What a Lovely War! in London, Paris and New York. I am sure that we all have that hidden croc of gold, that thing we absolutely treasure and don't want to share. I am fortunate, if you can call it that, to have several. One of the things I hoard is a podcast that bundles fascinating and friendly in the one package. Firing up an episode of My Time Capsule is like sitting down in front of a warming fire with your favourite drink, while a wild storm does its best to dismantle the world outside. Everyone talks about the assault on attention, all those things that batter the brain as we move through the digital world. I work in an Audiology and this has made me so much more aware of how much uninvited noise there is today. As the podcast starts MIchael Fenton-Stevens' voice arrives, a balm for tired ears. Michael comes across just as I suspect he is, someone who is good company whether it is over a pint at the pub, or across the kitchen table. Many of the guests are known to Michael's UK audience, which gives a UK centric audie
