Yes, Labor Day signals the end of yet another summer here in Laguna Beach. The kids go back to school, tourists make their final summer runs to visit us and things all over begin to settle down and start to return Laguna to a 'sleepy beach town'.But the music on KXFM and The Coast Highway Shuffle Show plays on. Sadly, that includes a 'headset' in tribute to the legendary Jimmy Buffett who passed away 2 days ago. Jimmy was known in Laguna for his frequent visits and warm, friendly personality. At the 45:30min mark in this edition of the Coast Highway Shuffle Show, we pay tribute to a dear friend, Bob Campion, who passed away 2 weeks ago. BC was a local Laguna Beach musical legend as the lead singer of a few local bands, most notably The Blues Offenders, The Agave Brothers and The Skeleton Crew, a very successful SoCal Grateful Dead cover band. Bob will forever be loved, and deeply missed, by his family and friends. May his memory, including the music he loved, be a blessing to all that knew him. SR

Music has so many purposes and values in our lives: to entertain, to inspire, to cause reflection or distraction, to create joy, to express love.In addition, it can help us as we deal with loss and grief and accompany us as we journey a tortuous emotional path. This edition of the Coast Highway Shuffle Show is very personal as I continue to experience a wide range of emotions on the 5th anniversary of a terrible personal loss.The songs I've selected are those that reflect pain and heartache, grief and longing and expressions of what may lie beyond, but also songs that simply were favorites of my lost loved one. My hope is that these songs, and this show, may touch or inspire you, or simply create reflections upon your own journey thru loss. Ths is for Ethan James and for all those whom we'll miss forever.
