Spencer is a combat vet and a good friend. We talk about what stoicism means to us, how the people around us influence our behavior, and the importance of discipline when motivation runs dry. https://linktr.ee/tindelsrazorMusic by Scott Toddy: https://www.scotttoddy.com/

If you were thinking "the podcasts I listen to don't have enough normal people talking about controversial topics" then I have good news for you! My friend Maria and I talk about feminism, what it means to her and what the different waves of the movement have worked to accomplish over the last century. We discuss women's rights, trans rights, abortion, pay gaps, and oh yeah that one very important thing women do; motherhood. https://linktr.ee/tindelsrazorMusic by Scott Toddy: https://www.scotttoddy.com/
My good friend and colleague Ron has been doing amazing work with veterans and first responders suffering from PTSD and today he tells us about what his organization is doing for not only the Central Florida community but nationwide. Check them out here and I'll see you at upcoming events! https://sea2sea4ptsd.org/https://22zero.org/https://linktr.ee/tindelsrazorMusic by Scott Toddy: https://www.scotttoddy.com/
As more women are getting involved in extreme sports more categories are needed for them to compete at different skill levels. Amanda is the 2023 downhill mountain biking category 1 national champion and she tells me about the need for another category in the Eastern States Cup where women like her can race competitively without dominating the amateur league and without becoming discouraged by big losses in the pro league. This was a fun episode and I look forward to seeing Amanda defend her title! Hello friends! Since I have been fortunate enough to have made new acquaintances, friends, and followers recently I wanted to go back to the beginning and tell my story and why I started this podcast.  Plus I listened to the early episodes recently and oof, they are  rough. Hey we all start somewhere, right? (I say while typing this in my bedroom "recording studio") Thanks so much to old friends and new for journeying with me. Get involved with the conversation here: https://linktr.ee/tindelsrazorMusic by Scott Toddy: https://www.scotttoddy.com/
It would be a crime to talk about Florida's history and not spend time learning about some of the OG Floridians, the Seminole Tribe of Florida. Since this episode only scratched the surface here's some links to show you the rest of the iceberg. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Indigenous_peoples_of_Floridahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orange_periodhttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pleistocene_megafaunahttps://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ceramics_of_indigenous_peoples_of_the_Americashttps://www.floridamuseum.ufl.edu/ceramiclab/galleries/orange/https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jVBCCjr-zrwhttps://www.ereferencedesk.com/resources/state-early-history/florida.htmlhttps://themihs.info/calusa-period/https://seminolenationmuseum.org/history-seminole-nation-the-seminole-wars/https://www.warhistoryonline.com/history/osceola-seminole-war.htmlhttps://myfloridahistory.org/date-in-history/december-28-1835/dade-massacrehttps://www.theledger.com/story/news/2012/10/16/osceolas-capture-made-him-a-hero/26513685007/Get involved with the conversation here: https://linktr.ee/tindelsrazorMusic by Scott Toddy: https://www.scotttoddy.com/
What's happening over there and should the US be involved at all? Dan and I discuss history, idealism, religion, and how I'm adamantly against the US getting their nose any deeper into conflicts that have nothing to do with North America except for causing more blow back that makes American citizens less safe.  Get involved with the conversation here: https://linktr.ee/tindelsrazorMusic by Scott Toddy: https://www.scotttoddy.com/
This week continues our journey into exploring groups that have been hijacked by unhealthy ideologies. My friend Jaci went looking for healthy vegetable recipes in vegan groups and quickly noticed many of the foods that were recommending were full of processed chemicals, sugars, and meat substitutes. When she offered healthier substitutes she received push back from the group and was told "Veganism isn't about health."  Get involved with the conversation here: https://linktr.ee/tindelsrazorMusic by Scott Toddy: https://www.scotttoddy.com/
Should cartoon mermaids have realistic body dimensions? What is realistic? While having a thin waist may be a fantasy for some, others fantasize about gaining healthy weight. Sarah tells us about her struggles with body image and her experiences with body positivity groups and how they've been ideologically captured by the notion that you can be healthy at any size, even morbidly obese. We discuss the nuances of what healthy is, what it certainly isn't, and why standardizing what "realistic" proportions looks like leaves a lot of people out of the picture. Get involved with the conversation here: https://linktr.ee/tindelsrazorMusic by Scott Toddy: https://www.scotttoddy.com/
I wanted to hear about my buddy Mike's most recent trip to Tanzania and today he tells us all about everything from his close encounters with lions, watching wildebeest frantically cross a crocodile infested river, to getting to spend time with people who live there and learning about their day to day lives. Travel has been such an important part of my personal growth and I'm always excited to hear about how others share similar experiences of human connection, even on the opposite side of the planet. Some pictures get shared during this conversation so if you'd like a glimpse at what we're looking at check out my YouTube or Rumble channels (Rumble video will be up within the week, I'm slowly but surely catching up to getting my backlog of episodes uploaded and current there as well) links to both of which are found in my link tree below. 15% of mothers suffer from postpartum depression, but it's likely that far more experience it without recognizing it or seeking help. Fortunately my friend Maria was told what to look for, and in this conversation she tells us her story of overcoming a condition that sometimes ends in tragedy. Resources that we mention in this episode are below:https://www.postpartum.net/https://www.momsinmindfl.com/https://instagram.com/the.mom.therapist?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==https://instagram.com/postpartumstress?igshid=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==Get involved with the conversation here: https://linktr.ee/tindelsrazorMusic by Scott Toddy: https://www.scotttoddy.com/
My friend Jared returns from the world of entertainment media to walk us through what's happening with the WGA writer's strike and why the Screen Actors Guild is also concerned with AI taking jobs, poor streaming service residuals, and the corporate stranglehold that may take over the arts altogether. To help struggling film and TV makers now: https://entertainmentcommunity.org/The SAG-AFTRA proposals taken to the table and the AMTPT counters that lead to the strike: https://www.facebook.com/Miki410/posts/pfbid02trqFfXuZy2aQHJSrXmbn6tZXL1AYkGfUDVVt5qKW4s2wpPCrNPjkbQtboXdAN8HJlGet involved with the conversation here: https://linktr.ee/tindelsrazorMusic by Scott Toddy: https://www.scotttoddy.com/
Paramedics tend to have pretty good BS detectors, and Florida medics even more so. You've all seen the headlines we respond to every day. My buddy Dan and I take that no-nonsense approach to discussing politics, corporate lies and war mongers who claim to love democracy. With the rise of podcasting and independent platforms for journalism you'd think society would be having enlightened discussions about, well, everything. And while in many cases that is happening, on a large scale in legacy media we see "misinformation" and "conspiracy theory" labels used to justify censoring important discussions that effect daily life and public health. Felicity Azura is the host of Pro Cuddle Hustle Podcast, a professional cuddler, pole dancer and sex worker. Our conversation ranges from acrobatics gyms, our favorite Hugh Jackman musical, the way casual pole dancers are viewed by professionals and that one time I got sucker-punched by a seizure patient in my ambulance. Our conversation got cut off at the very end, but you can check out Felicity's podcast and support her work here: https://allmylinks.com/felicityazuraMoving forward I'll be releasing new podcast episodes as I record them instead of on a weekly schedule.  Last year I spoke with Alex, a woman who was in the process of pressing charges against individuals who sexually assaulted her, what the process was like and how it's impacted her mental health. We originally spoke on episode 53 of this podcast, and she returns to tell us about how she's remained resilient during this difficult process, what the outcomes for her cases were and how the right therapy, treatment and community support has been so vital in her continued fight for peace and bringing justice to those who deserve it. For the first episode of my weekly Florida Friday series my brother and fellow Floridian James comes on to talk with me about North America's first permanent European settlement, St. Augustine. From pirates to wedding parties this city has some of the wildest history in the state, but what else would you expect from La Florida? Every Monday is a new conversation and every Friday is a new adventure through the Sunshine State's history.
