For Bad Roads (011), I'm joined by my friend Todd Cheat aka Todd Porter from the Pittsburgh based band, The Cheats. Todd is a Pittsburgh Rock N' Roll lifer who folks might also know from his 35 years worth of rawk with the bands Silver Tongued Devil, Eviction, Arn City Pahnders, and Rancid Amazon. He's also a tattooer at Sinners and Saints Tattoo and, long ago, worked at Eide's Records. Crack open a beer and enjoy this episode!Check out the new record from The Cheats here:http://screamingcrow.com/https://thecheats412.bandcamp.com/Check out his tattoo shop here:http://www.sinnersandsaintstattooshop.com/Check out Eviction here:https://heavenandhellrecords.bandcamp.com/album/struggle-with-society-who-will-winhttps://heavenandhellrecords.bandcamp.com/album/the-world-is-hours-awayCheck out Silver Tongued Devil here: https://gethiprecordings.bandcamp.com/album/red-eyed-and-tongue-tiedBackyard Babies-Made Me MadmanThe Cheats-Give Up the GhostSegment: Todd PorterThe Cheats-Rock N’ Roll LifePale Lips-The KidsThe Heartbreakers-Too Much Junkie Business (RIP Walter Lure)The Joneses-Pill BoxSegment: Todd PorterThe Cheats-Hammersmith PalaisThe Waldos-Party Lights (RIP Walter Lure)Spiders and Snakes-Nuke the SunHammered Satin-DynamiteSegment: Todd PorterEviction-Living in Emptiness (excerpt)Segment: Todd PorterEviction-American WaySegment: Todd PorterThe Rubinoos-Rock N' Roll is DeadOutroAlice Cooper-Welcome to My NightmareThe Cheats-Hella 69Note: All music beds by Link Wray except for the opening music bed which is the song Storm Warning by Mac Rebennack.Support the show (https://venmo.com/Jesse-Novak-9)
For the 10th episode of Bad Roads, I am joined by my friend, musician J. Marinelli. J. originally hails from Morgantown, WV, but currently resides along the fjords of Trondheim, Norway. For the last 15+ years J. has regularly recorded and toured as a 1 person band, playing guitar, drums, and singing all at once. Prior to venturing out on his own, J. played in mid 90s cult indie/emo rockers Samuel (State College, PA/Washington DC) and Les Trois Malhueres (Washington DC). I can't say enough good things about J. as a human and as a musician. Be sure to check out his great new album, Laughing All the Way to the Fretex. All music beds, except for the intro music, in this episode come from the album Luck in the Valley by Jack Rose.Intro-The Messthetics-Better WingsThe Julie Ruin-Brightsidehttps://thejulieruin.bandcamp.com/J. For this episode of Bad Roads I talk with Pittsburgh musician Oyo Ellis. Oyo has been independent musician and producer in Pittsburgh since the mid 80s. While his music might be what he is best known for, Oyo is also now the head of The Battered Citizens Fund, a new nonprofit whose mission is to assist the under insured/uninsured injured during protests. We talk about Oyo’s new role with the nonprofit as well as his current band, Killer of Sheep. Along the way we hear music from some of Oyo’s musical projects over the years and a host of other music from Pittsburgh and beyond. The Battered Citizens Fund Donations:https://www.paypal.com/donate/?token=ENBEuL4c5cV--Egw2pb4wWBYAVDW2GrtSj2_0jpOp5LR85WHmtSoUh7nPftE-eBEY1h6PG&country.x=US&locale.x=US&Z3JncnB0=The Battered Citizens Fund Information:https://www.facebook.com/batteredcitizensfundIntro-Dub Mentor-Guns of BrixtonThe Equals-Police on My BackBad Brains-The Big TakeoverLeeway-Rise and Fall (Excerpt)Segment: Oyo EllisOyo's Bands:Battered Citizens-No Way OutTon a Bricks-Triflin AssTon a Bricks-CallousKiller of Sheep-Pawnshttps://killerofsheep1.bandcamp.com/Segment: Oyo EllisLiving World-Ubuntuhttps://livingworld.bandcamp.com/Scream-Fight/American JusticeUniform Choice-Screaming For Change Krimewatch-N/Ahttps://krimewatch.bandcamp.com/Black Flag-Slip It In (Excerpt)Death-Politicians in My EyesMC5-American RuseRichard Pryor-N*****s Vs PoliceThin White Line-Thrilling CitiesDerketa-Troops of Doomhttps://derketa.bandcamp.com/Napalm Death-Unchallenged HateDisrupt-EqualiseCliterati-Hard Timeshttps://cliteratipdx.bandcamp.com/The Clash-Know Your RightsHugh Mundell-Let’s All UniteOyo Ellis-Too High!!!Support the show (https://venmo.com/Jesse-Novak-9)

It is appropriately OVER THE TOP that the seventh episode of Bad Roads (stage) dives headfirst into more than THREE HOURS of all things related to metal thrashing madness. We play demos, deep cuts, and thrash game changers from deep within the underground. For the first part of the episode, I'm joined by Spahr Schmitt. Spahr was the singer for the Pittsburgh based 80s thrash metal band Necropolis, editor of Warhammer fanzine, and was the owner of one of the finest Pittsburgh record stores ever, Brave New World. You can find out more about Spahr's former band, Necropolis, at https://necropolispgh.com/. During the second part of the episode I talk with Portland, OR thrashard Justin Straw of the band Coffin Apartment and former editor of the mid 90s metal fanzine, Progression/Aggression.
