Description

'What We Are All About' came from the idea of going through life and figuring things out step by step. In societies that tell you to grow faster the question comes up if there can be different approaches to life and its pace. Come along with us, talking about this and that. Step by step at a different pace. To us, it is the journey that counts the most.

Ep#20Today we are joined once again by Hanna as she just finished a course about leadership. She leads the conversation so well, that at some point it felt a bit like we swapped seats for this episode. This episode looks at different angles of leadership; what makes a good leader? Very quickly we noticed that it is a wide topic and the lines get pretty blurred, can we talk in the context of a leader necessarily speak about ‘good and bad’? As always there are so many grey areas in between, and in our opinion a good leader should be closely linked to a person with good morals, however there are lots of leaders in power that don’t align with certain moral values. So these points have to be defined first before finding a common ground to talk about leadership. It is easy to find ourselves in an echo chamber, but can we ignore the other side of leaders and leadership entirely? Then also looking at it from a bit of a closer perspective, Steve and I only know about how to work as a team and guide a team from years of hands on experience, so Hanna brings the element of formal learning to the table. What we talked about:- What is the definition of a leader?- What should the goals of our society be?- How can we change the narrative? — rethinking the role of a leader- Should we maybe speak of good role models rather than leaders?- Being in a role of power doesn’t make you a good leader- A key point to a good leader is trust, trusting your team and not micro-managing every single step, so sharing your power and being clear about communicating with the team so they know that they have the right to go ahead with certain decisions on their own— enable your team being one of the key words here- Does it really just take the one leader on the top?

Ep#8Listen to Steve’s song on Spotify:https://open.spotify.com/album/7Kwe5D1QCjYsTtU6UsY3HA?si=GqK2jSqKQWug-l_EKlrq6QRecorded this episode at 8.08. pm and that is basically about it. To find out why this number is funny to show up in that moment, have a listen! Trying to have an open conversation and being scared of actually sharing it. Challenges that might occur when you think you are not allowed to speak anymore. Only if we make mistakes can we learn to do it better the next time around. It is important that we want to create a society that lifts each other up and supports each other to learn. If fear shuts us up, because something might be put out of context or we might lose our job for it, we won’t be able to progress and learn. With the approach of trying to overcome fear by sharing/acting, we decided to keep this part in.
