It's Hispanic Heritage Month (until October 15th) and in this episode we share our earliest memories of hearing Latin, which were strong rooted in Adri's childhood. We discuss some of the iconic artists that brought the genre into mainstream & worldwide success that it has become today. From Santana to Shakira to Miami Sound Machine (who's cassette tape Jason's mom wore out), to Marc Anthony (who still took time to meet Adri backstage when he was down with the swine flu). So much Spanish fire in this episode, it will make you want to DANCE (and break a hip trying!)
Part Two of our 10th episode celebration featuring special guest, Thomas Stuhr, Adri's husband. In this half we discuss some of the groups that got that "So-Cal sound" stigma attached to them. We also get a little more current with the bands & artists in the past 10-15 years that continue to wave the flag or carry the banner for California. We know there's a few we missed so please chime in on our social media channels!
It took a while due to summer vacations and scheduling snafu's but we're finally at #10!! We wanted to do something special while giving listeners what they asked for. More personal stories! This episode is a two-parter with special guest: Adri's husband, Thomas. As a musician that grew up in Southern California in the 80's-90's, Thomas shares his personal connections to some of the bands discussed in the episode (Social Distortion, Rage Against The Machine, Stone Temple Pilots). Thomas even throws a little shade at Fat Mike from NOFX and the guys in Blink 182. Plus, find out what's lurking in the basement of some East L.A. record stores. There's a lot to unpack here and it's only Part One!!
In Memoriam of Peter Green, a founding member of the band, Jason & Adri discuss what made Fleetwood Mac one of the best selling groups with one of the best selling albums of all time (Rumours). We deep dive on what made the group so successful despite their in-fighting, drugs, drama, & sexcapades. We share the songs we never skip and our end-of-episode "Lyric Association Game" is our most entertaining to date. We go a little off the rails on this crazy train!
Which Prince album is better? That's our debate for Episode 8! It's our very first "Classic Album Clash" and what better artist to do it with than THE Artist (formerly known as).Jason & Adri go track-by-track comparing notes & explaining why they picked one over the other. Listen and share your picks!
Episode 7: King George

Episode 7: King George

2020-06-2340:06

This week's episode is a deep dive on the living legend, George Strait. Often referred to as the "King of Country Music." Jason & Adri discuss why they think he earned that title, what he means to the genre, why Pure Country gets Adri's motor running, and share their favorite songs Strait From The Box!
On Jason & Adri's respective radio stations (WVAQ & WKKW), they've been taking requests for "summer classics." What qualifies a song to be in that category? That's the discussion on this episode as we share some of our favorite anthems to get your summer road trip ready!
This week's episode is a deep dive into how music has brought awareness to a social movement, civil rights, or unrest in the world but more specifically, in America, and especially what's going on in our nation's current social climate. Jason & Adri share songs that particularly have motivated them toward a call to action. Our hope is that you will feel inspired to do the same!
This week's episode centers around Rolling Stone Magazine's "100 Greatest List of Debut Songs Of All Time." Jason takes issue with them using that title because 'time' has not ended and Adri has a bone to pick about why Hanson is even on the list. Plus, we share tracks that should've been considered and the songs the publication DID get it right on!
This week's episode time hops to the 1980's for a discussion on the Best Movie Soundtracks of the decade. Was Adri really named after Adrian, the wife of Rocky Balboa? What did Jason think the original lyrics were to Danger Zone from Top Gun? Listen for the answers and PLEASE, share your fave 80's flicks & soundtracks with us!
The Beastie Boys Story documentary on Apple TV is the inspiration for this week's topic. It's a must watch, and, if you're a fan of the Three MC's And One DJ, this episode is a must listen! Jason & Adri recall the first time they heard Beastie Boys, their favorite albums and songs, and how Adri's 70 year old father-in-law is going to be the next viral video sensation with the help of the Beasties!
What were your first memories of listening to music? First album you bought? Did your parents taste influence yours growing up? How about now? Jason & Adri share their answers and encourage you to do the same through our social media channels.
