We have talked a lot on the podcast previously about our junior production line over the years, so on the podcast this week are 3 of our brightest talents in the current squad, Ross Kennard, Stuart Lister and Jack Lambley.  We spice things up a bit this week as we start with a 'Who am I?' teammate quiz and then go on to a Q&A where these 3 tell us some of their favourite SDCC stories!
This week on the podcast we have two very well known faces within cricket in Aberdeen, Robin Taylor and Mark Lambley.  We discuss their time playing in the Aberdeenshire Grades, both for well over 30 years now, and also how the Grades has changed since they started.  We also talk about their time with us at SDCC and all the memories that has come of that in the last 10 years, including relegation battles and promotions! We end with both Mark and Robin selecting a Grades XI of players they have either played with or against, both containing at least one SDCC player! Club legend Alan Barron is on the podcast this week to talk us through our club's history.  We discuss both clubs (Stoneywood and Dyce) pre amalgamation and then how the clubs came together in 1991.  We then discuss all the highs (and some lows) that we have experienced as Stoneywood Dyce Cricket Club, including promotion to the National Leagues for the first time in 1997. We also talk about how a club with such limited resources and facilities has produced an unbelievable amount of talent, including Kyle Coetzer and Michael Leask! We have had 20 players play for Scotland at some level, most home grown, which is quite remarkable for a club our size. We end with an AB Q&A full with stories from the last 50 years of his cricketing ventures!
This week on the podcast we have one of Scotland’s best with one of Scotland’s next as Fi Penny (née Urquhart) and Ailsa Lister discuss their journeys so far in the cricketing world. We discuss how they both got into cricket: Fi at SDCC and Ailsa at Huntly, which is well known for producing women’s cricketers such as Kirstie Gordon! We also discuss topics such as how much the women’s game has evolved over the last 20 years and how it is constantly changing for the better! We end with a Q&A where Fi tells us about her time playing in Australia with Ellyse Perry and Alyssa Healy! There is some fantastic inspiration here for not only young women’s cricketers, but for all women in sport! Well worth a listen!!
This week on the podcast we have arguably two of the finest players to have come out of the SDCC production line, current Scotland captain Kyle Coetzer MBE and Gordon Goudie! They discuss growing up at Stoneywood Dyce where they both learnt the game, earmarking Grant Dugmore and Steve Knox as two key figures, among others, in helping them flourish at SDCC as they moved through the junior and senior ranks at a young age.  They both then go on to discuss leaving SDCC at the ripe age of 17: Gordon to go down to the Young Cricketer's programme in London and Kyle to join the Durham Academy set up.  They also discuss what was always the pinnacle of their careers: pulling on a Scotland strip. They both discuss their Scotland debuts, best performances and much, much more! What is evident throughout the podcast is that SDCC had a huge impact on both Kyle and Gordon's careers. It is also very clear that both of them realise and appreciate that, and that they will always cherish and love the club.
This week we have two more fan favourites on the podcast as Paddy Moroney and Stuart Coetzer are on to discuss the 2001 season and beyond. Once again, this is a must watch! Some hilarious stories from both of these guys as well as a lot of passion and love for SDCC. Paddy joined us as an overseas amateur in 2001 alongside Pro Casper van der Walt. Paddy is one of our most memorable and most loved overseas players that we have ever had at our club due to the massive mark he left on the club. His passion and love for the club shines bright throughout this episode, even 19 years after he was with us. They both discuss the 2001 season sharing the funny stories from that year as well as recalling the most memorable games and moments. After that, they discuss what they got up to after the 2001 season such as Stu going on to represent Scotland in 2004 as well as finally hitting his first SDCC ton in 2006 after plenty of knocks in the 90s (and yes, it was after a late one in town!!). In the first of three Coetzer episodes in a row, Shaun Coetzer joins Jack Mitchell on the podcast this week as these two ex-SDCC captains talk through their careers. They talk about growing up playing cricket: Jack at Huntly and Shaun at SDCC. They then go on to discuss why they decided to leave their home town clubs to go onto bigger and better things in cricket before returning to their roots at different points in their careers.  We also discuss the last 5 years at Stoneywood Dyce. A 5 years like no other in our history. From the lows of relegation in 2016 to the highs of promotion in 2018 and reaching the Scottish Cup semi finals in 2019 it has been a real roller coaster ride. These two have been pivotal in the eventual success over this time. Jack discusses what it was like playing with Pakistani international Azhar Ali at Huntly as well as playing for the Caledonian Highlanders in 2019. Shaun talks about growing up in a cricket mad family, playing with Kyle in Cape Town and how he has his eyes on an over 50 World Cup spot in 10 years time!
This week two more golden oldies and spin twins are on reminiscing about times gone by. Brian Creegan and George Ninan take a hilarious trip down memory lane as they recall and retell some of the funniest and most memorable moments from the last 20 years. They delve deep into the memory book, with some fantastic stories spanning from the Cricket World Cup in West Indies to a night club in Dumfries!!
For week 3 we are kicking off our overseas memories from years gone by and who better to start with than Brayden Stepien.  Brayden talks us through his season with us in 2016, his memories of his time with us and what he learnt. He then goes on and gives great insight into what it was like getting called up and playing for the Melbourne Renegades in the Big Bash!
Two club legends, Michael Louw and David Lamb, select their best ever Stoneywood Dyce Cricket Club teams! The only rules are that they can't pick the same players as each other and they also have to have played at least one game with each player they pick! They select their best local XI's as well as picking an overseas to round off each squad. They share some great insight, hilarious stories and much more!
We are kicking off our podcast with two of our current stars, Jamie King and David Kidd. They discuss teammates past and present with host, Ewan Davidson, along with having a game of Mr v Mr to see how well they truly know each other!   Subscribe on Anchor, Spotify, iTunes, YouTube or your favourite podcast tool for more!
