Vampire A/V Club

We're going to the movies! Three vampire movies planted the seeds for the 20th century's gallery of glampires and we'll tackle them all in this episode and once we've taken them to the floor we'll cover them in hugs and kisses. It's time for some nookie with Nosferatu, drama with Dracula, and cold vampin' with Vampyr. Bestselling author, Grady Hendrix, continues his struggle to get you to buy his book, The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires, and to make his argument he throws in some plain talk about syphilis, sexually insatiable women, hideous war wounds, gas attacks, super-clean underwear, and poetry.
Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it is we did wrong, but we think you're crazy for making us write an essay debunking the legends of notorious real-life vampires, Vlad the Impaler and Elizabeth Bathory. Who turn out to have nothing to do with vampires after all. This episode is written, narrated, and produced by Grady Hendrix, New York Times bestselling author of The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires. It's a monster-sized marathon of massive mayhem as Super Scary Haunted Homeschool finally tackles Dracula! Also, emotional vampires, feminism, Baby Mozart, sapphic bloodsuckers, the prom king and queen of Vampire High, and why tall people are degenerates. Except for George Washington. It's another thinly-veiled attempt to get you to buy The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires. Will the suffering never end? Award-winning author, Grady Hendrix, takes you on an educational and emotional (edumotional?) journey to the bloody red heart of 19th century vampirism. You'll never be the same.
Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it is we did wrong, but we think you're crazy for making us write an essay telling you about the world's two first, most ancient vampires. This episode is written, narrated, and produced by Grady Hendrix, New York Times bestselling author of The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires. Dear Mr. Vernon, we accept the fact that we had to sacrifice a whole Saturday in detention for whatever it is we did wrong, but we think you're crazy for making us write an essay telling you about China's hopping vampires. Fortunately, we listened to the very first Saturday School episode of Super Scary Haunted Homeschool so we knew all the answers. This episode is written, narrated, and produced by Grady Hendrix, New York Times bestselling author of The Southern Book Club's Guide to Slaying Vampires. I'm 12 minutes into this podcast and freaking HOOKED. Seriously Grady, you are the BEST thing to come out of oversensationalized 80s niche horror since Evil Dead (sorry, it was the most cult-y, nichiest reference I could come up with on the fly. Not AWEFUL for a podcast comment though). I'm not talented or cultured... but damnit I can read (mostly) and I LIKE your style! You've gotten me through what I hope is the worst of the quarantine. I'll literally buy everything you write- and I believe to date that I have. please do a book signing in Oregon someday.

I adore you Grady Hendrix! As soon as I saw this, I immediately subscribed! I spent all quarantine reading "Paperbacks From Hell" out loud to my bored teenager - who now wants to give the weirder ones to her friends as gifts :) Its nice to know you are inspiring a new generation to comb independent used bookstores for obscure nazi-vampire paperbacks!
