This week we're breaking down a concept found throughout scripture that tends to be complicated to us when trying to wrap our minds around it...love. Part of walking through what Jesus said and taught is understanding that there's a need to live in a way where Jesus is Lord over our lives and part of that is loving people without exception. So this week we're breaking down what Jesus said and what it means.  If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia
This week we're unpacking the concept of Christocentric theology. Throughout the Matthew Series there were several points where we discussed different aspects so Jesus' teaching or actions an made reference to painting the full picture of who Christ is and how he reflects God the father. Also, a few months ago I put out a poll in our Facebook group asking if the BWC knew what it meant to have a Christocentric perspective. Well now that we are wrapping things up, now is the time to unpack what this means why it's so important.  If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia

The time has come! This week we are beginning our walk through the final chapter of Matthew by covering the resurrection but this week we're widening our perspective slightly to get a fuller picture. The truth is, the 4 gospel accounts highlight various aspects of Jesus' life and ministry, including His passion and resurrection. In order to really process everything that's happening, we're outlining the series of events in timeline form across all 4 gospel accounts with the emphasis being on what specifically Matthew is trying to communicate with his.  If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia

A Burial for a King

2023-08-0933:08

This week we're finishing up Matthew chapter 27. We're covering what happened in the moments after Jesus died and impact it had. We're discussing the beautiful reality of the diverse collection of people who were present at the time of Jesus' crucifixion including the women who were present and ministered to Jesus. From there we dig into the burial of Jesus and discuss the historical aspects of how burials were handled at this point in history and the significance of the tomb that was volunteered for Jesus to lay in. Finally we're talking about the response of the religious leaders and the clear concern they had about Jesus even after his death when they went to Pilate to get a guard for the tomb.   If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia
The Death of the King

The Death of the King

2023-08-0237:08

This week we're continuing our walk through Matthew 27 by discussing the death of Jesus. We're walking through the weight of this moment in history and unpacking the realities of what happened. Often times as we contemplate the passion narrative, we read Jesus as the hero and someone or a group as the villain when in fact Jesus is the only one with the authority to lay down and pick up his own. Yes, there's more to the story after this point but in order to get there we need to stop here...for now.  If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia
This week we are continuing our coverage of Matthew 27 by discussing the crucifixion of Jesus. We're covering the realities of this Roman execution, the importance of the correct perspective when reading Matthew's account and the sitting in the significance of what's happening. In this episode we're covering the details we have in Matthew about how Pilate tries to absolve himself of responsibly of what's happening to Jesus and the magnitude of man's response to having been in direct interaction with God. We pause in this subject alone because in order to fully appreciate what happens next, we need to understand this moment in history.  If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia
Heros and Villains

Heros and Villains

2023-07-1944:16

This week we're beginning Matthew chapter 27. In this week's episode we're discussing the aftermath of the "trail" of Jesus. We discuss we the realities of what happened with Judas and explain the idiosyncrasies of what this gospel account covers in comparison to other parts of the bible as well as a look into how the language that's used here helps to give a clearer picture of Judas's headspace after Jesus is condemned and "found guilty."From there we discuss the interact between Jesus and Pilate. We pull in some points from other gospel accounts to paint a full picture of what's happening here and we discuss why it's so incredibly vital to maintain the proper perspective on the people involved. The realities is all too often humans fall for the trap of reading themselves into a story as the hero and in the process deeming someone as the villain but in this section of scripture, there is a very clear picture painted that showcases why approaching Jesus's crucifixion in that manner devalues what Jesus actually did. Yes, there are people involved that make the wrong decision but the bible speaks directly to this being a matter of Jesus and the carnal desire rather than Jesus against a people group or individual.   If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia

The Stage is Set

The Stage is Set

2023-07-0539:32

This week we're continuing Matthew 26. We're picking up right where we left off last week by following the moments right after the Passover meal as Jesus and a few disciples go to the garden of Gethsemane to pray. We cover the humanity of the Son of Man on full display, the importance of what He prays and his dedication to the Father's will above his own and the significance of how He responses to this disciples sleeping. We then move towards the climax of this section of scripture by puling in details from other gospel accounts to paint the full picture of what's happening and dig into the moments that set the stage for what happens next and why it's a mistake to read Judas as the villain of this story.   If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia

We start off by discussing Judas betraying Jesus to the religious leaders and the implications of Jesus's words to him during their meal together. We then move into the Passover meal. This week we're beginning our walk through Jesus's last days. As things ramp up into a crescendo, after wrapping up His last teaching that was filled with language of warning and the power and glory of His second coming we are almost immediately met with the reality of what Jesus came to do. We are getting closer to the Passover meal and ultimately the death of Jesus and Jesus takes the time to remind the disciples of what must happen as they are together sharing a meal. During this time we see a stunning display of anointment and love of Jesus. We're going to walk through the historical context of the "world's stage" that these events will be playing out in as well as the thematic significance of what happens here and the beauty shared in these moments.    If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia
Are You Ready?

Are You Ready?

2023-06-1457:43

This week we're covering Matthew 25 and the parables of the Ten Virgins, The Talents and The Sheep and Goats. In all 3 of these parables, Jesus presents a need for us as Kingdom Citizens to be prepared for His coming...but what does that mean? Far too often these parables are taught as either a moral tale or a scare tactic that Jesus may come at any moment so we must always be on our best. However, what if these parables are simply just Jesus pushing forward the very same concepts He's been preaching this whole time? This week we're covering what it means to live in a posture of readiness and why as citizens of the Kingdom of God, we don't have to be afraid and anxious when what we have is lived in in the every day.  If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia
This week we're finishing up Matthew 24 by discussing the The Coming of The Son of Man. We're walking through some of the different interpretations that exist around this section of scripture including the thought that the entirety of these verses center around the destruction of the temple in A.D 70. We're discussing how certain events in human history act as a shadow of sorts for what these verses are ultimately pointing at why it's important to consider not only the context in which Jesus saying these things but also who He's saying them to. We wrap up the chapter by discussing why it's so important to consider the full picture when unpacking the realities of life as a Christian. Yes, we look ahead towards Heaven and towards the coming of the king but what impact does that have or should that have on how we operate here and now in the present context.  If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia
This week we're continuing our breakdown of Matthew 24 by discussing the abomination of desolation. We're covering how the echoes of past events act as forshadowings of the ultimate fulfillment spoken about by Jesus. We also discuss how Jesus's words conflict with modern popular interpretations of end times events including as the title suggests...The Rapture.   If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia
This week we're beginning our discussion of Matthew 24 and getting into a conversation about the "end times". This is a subject that is at the heart of a lot of fierce debate within the Christian world with a lot of different hot takes, theories and time lines. Our goal is to ignore the desire to create a timeline of events and focus on a Christocentric breakdown of Jesus is laying out about what the world is going to look like in the in between time that we currently live in. We define some of the terms that are used here that have been given some bad explanations over the years and seek to focus on why it's so important not to lose sight of the unchanging posture that we are called into as citizens of the Kingdom of God.  If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia
This week we're doubling back to clarify a few things from last week that you guys had some questions about dealing with the application of Matthew 23 on the modern context and impact of Jesus' words on us today while still considering the original context of the chapter. In the clarification we're unpacking the realities of how easy it is as a human to miss the point of Jesus' words and make our own perspective the most important aspect of how we process the world. Once we finish up the clarification from last week, we're finishing up the chapter by completing Jesus' statements against the religious leaders and unpacking His heart of full display as He laments what is going to happen to the people who rejected Him.  If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia
Clean The Whole Dish

Clean The Whole Dish

2023-05-1042:25

This week we're covering the first part of Matthew 23 where Jesus is in the midst of one of his final teaching moments during his earthly ministry on His way to the cross. He systematically breaks down some of the ways that the religious leaders are missing the point and we go into how we today can draw on these lessons as to not make the minor notes into the major notes and explore the freedom of life in the Kingdom.  If you have any questions about the subjects covered in today's episode you can find us on Facebook at the links below or you can shoot me an email at joe@buddywalkwithjesus.com One Stop Shop for all the links Linktr.ee/happydeamedia
