During the period of my life when I had a stammer I was very much a loner. If, for example, I had a choice of whether to go to a social event, I would usually choose not to, due to the fear of stammering. I missed out on so much, and this made me even more eager to find a solution, to help me to overcome the stammer. I had become a loner; a person that other people no doubt thought of as rather weird. How did you overcome your stammer, Steve? This is a question that I am regularly asked and I provide the answer in this episode of the Stammering Solved podcast.Stammering Solved! Finally, I have attained my lifetime goal of overcoming the stammer. After a great deal of thought, I realised that I had a faulty speech. I decided to throw away that faulty speech and to relearn how to talk.It was a far from an easy process, but it was never likely to be. The effort was well and truly worth it, as to be able to talk free from the fear of stammering is truly magical.It took me six years to overcome the stammer. At the age of 16 I had what I class as the magical turning point, a point that led me to really believe that I would be able to overcome the stammer. I explain what happened in this episode of the Stammering Solved podcast. Overcoming the stammer, and to therefore achieve fluency had always been my main goal in life. Six years after the above experience, at the age of 22, I achieved this goal.I am now aged 47, and for the last 25 years I have been helping other people to also achieve fluency. My fifteen minutes of fame.Steve Hill's Stammering Solved course featured on the BBC! After overcoming the stammer at the age of 22, I started to help other people to also achieve fluency via a stammering course. I am often asked whether I would stutter or stammer when ordering drinks in a bar and food in a restaurant. Stammering problems and issues WERE common for me when attempting to order food and drinks in restaurants and bars.
