You're Wrong is on permanent hiatus, but Chris, Luciano, Matt and Spencer aren't! They have a new podcast, dedicated (almost) exclusively to movies, called Popcorn & Plot Holes. Come listen to their ramblings at https://popcornandplotholes.transistor.fm/ or anywhere you get your podcasts from!

It's the last episode of T.A.X.E.S., and there'd no better way to cap the series than with Demolition Man, one of the most entertaining and insane action flicks ever to come out of the 90's!And you know how it goes... if the movie is as bonkers as this one is, how much more so do you think the conversation these four had about it was? The answer is "a lot". A whole lot.
For the third installment in the T.A.X.E.S. series, the nerds decided to pick a less-known Wesley Snipes movie to discuss, and the one they went with was The Contractor! Now, at this point, you might be asking yourself "isn't The Contractor a Chris Pine movie released earlier this year?". And you'd be right, it is. But that's not the movie I'm talking about. Nope, I'm talking about 2007's The Contractor, starring Lena Headey and Charles Dance (and Wesley Snipes, obviously). That's right, Cersei and Tywin Lannister are up in this bitch! But don't get your hopes up, because not even they couldn't save this dreck. There's a reason — a very good reason — why you never heard of this atrocity of a movie before. Also, you probably noticed this episode is just shy of 2h long... when have you ever seen these crusty old farts talk for that long about a good movie?
The T.A.X.E.S. series continues! This week, Chris, Luciano and Matt watched and discussed Rising Sun, a movie that juuuuust barely manages to stay on this side of being outright racist — and against two very different groups, to boot. The fact that it actually manages to stick to "only" heavily stereotyping those groups is quite impressive for an American-made movie about Japanese business culture shot in the early 90's. 😐 Also, seeing as the movie stars Sean Connery, this episode obviously features several instances of shitty impressions of him. Gird your loins accordingly.
This week, we're kicking off yet another special You're Wrong series: T.A.X.E.S.! This one will see the nerds pay homage to an oft-forgotten star of action movies of the 90's, one Mr. Wesley Snipes (which makes the meaning of the acronym painfully obvious, of course). In this first episode, the movie they picked was Blade, truly a film that is a product of its time in many more ways than one. This is a movie that near and dear to their blackened, shrivelled hearts and they all had the nostalgia goggles fully on both while watching and during their conversation, but they still had a complaint or five to file... which is about as surprising as saying the sky is blue.
Given its release date, the final episode of M.U.R.I.C.A. could be about nothing else than the most American movie that America has ever America'd: National Treasure! Although, to be frank, if Nic Cage had been on Team America: World Police, this choice would have been much, much harder.Join Luciano, Matt and Spencer (yep, they went Chris-less this time around) on their discussion of this nice, cozy reminder of simpler times, when stealing the Declaration of Independence would have been considered one of the most egregious, un-American things an American could possibly do. 👀
In the second to last installment of M.U.R.I.C.A. the nerds flipped the script a bit and went for the newest Nic Cage movie (as of the publication of this episode, at least), rather than a classic: The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, a movie as weird and insane as its title is long. With a movie as bonkers as this one, I'm sure you can imagine how unhinged the conversation went and, for once, you would not be wrong. So make sure to rejoice, dear listener, in this truly solitary moment of your always-wrong existence.
In this installment of M.U.R.I.C.A., You're Wrong's celebration of the life and works of Nic Cage, the nerds (minus Spencer; his computer jumped off a bridge) tackled the 2000's remake of Gone in 60 Seconds. Yes, it's a remake and no, you haven't heard of a single one of the actors on the cast of the original 1974 movie. This is a movie that really shows its age, much more so than the previous two. There are a couple of very... problematic... things in it, things that would cause everyone involved with it to be tarred and feathered if it was released nowadays — and rightly so, might I add. It's also a movie that has a lot of people in it. And I do mean a LOT. Enough to fill the cast of two movies, really. And not all of those actors are, uh... great at their craft, let's put it. I mean, it's one thing to have an ensemble cast; it's completely another to just cram everybody and their dog (literally!) into a movie for... reasons, I guess?
Welcome, friends, to You're Right's 100th episode! That's right: 100 weeks of uplifting conversations and sending nothing but loving energy and good vibes out into the world! In this most auspicious of occasions, our dear friends Chris, Luciano, Matt and Spencer discussed another wonderful Nic Cage movie, Face/Off, as part of their zestful new series, M.U.R.I.C.A.! I can barely wait for you to treat yourself by listening to this new masterpiece of positivity and cheerfulness! ✨____________________MUSICInspirational Background by AudioCoffeehttps://pixabay.com/music/corporate-inspirational-background-112290/
Welcome to a new You're Wrong series! In this one, your favourite nerds will be celebrating the work and career of one of the greatest thespians ever to grace the silver screen: Nicolas Cage! The name they chose for this new series? M.U.R.I.C.A., obviously. What else could it possibly have been? The first "masterpiece" they decided to discuss was Ghost Rider. You know, that Marvel movie with an amazing, intricate storyline, incredible visual effects, superb acting and deep, complex character arcs, that came out way (read: about a year) before the MCU got its start with Iron Man. A movie so memorable nobody completely forgot existed (nor wish it didn't).Enjoy! 😬
The final episode of G.U.I.N.N.E.S.S. is upon us and, really, what kind of a You're Wrong mini-series would this be if the nerds didn't find some way to talk about Star Wars? So, to close off this epic event, Chris, Luciano and Matt are joined once again by their buddy Mike to talk about Star Wars: Episode I - The Phantom Menace, a movie as ambitious and hyped up (at the time) as its title is long.Everyone had very personal experiences with this movie, from self-gaslighting into thinking it was a masterpiece to watching it literally several dozen times in the span of a month (and everything in between), and that insanity certainly shone through in the conversation — which included a way too long discussion about the midi-chlorian count of several prominent Jedi. And that wasn't even the craziest part.
The second installment of G.U.I.N.N.E.S.S. is all about the unpolished tur— I mean gem that is Darkman! On the heels of Tim Burton's Batman, acclaimed auteur Sam Raimi pondered thoroughly and concluded "hey, I bet I can do that, too!". And, by God, do it he did.The nerds (still Spencer-less, unfortunately) are once again joined by the ever-jovial Scott to eviscer— I mean, analyse and discuss their thoughts and opinions on what might be the most 90's movie of all 90's movies.
Here at You're Wrong, the term "March Madness" has nothing to do with basketball or the NCAA. Instead, this is the month we celebrate just pure madness, which is why we're launching the much-awaited G.U.I.N.N.E.S.S.!In the first episode of this epic event, Chris, Luciano and Matt were joined by Matt's better-half Laura to tackle a classic Liam Neeson vehicle: Cold Pursuit. It's, uh... it's a movie. With, like, actors and stuff. Well, a lot of their characters die (sorry... spoiler alert, I guess). Also, some of them just kind of, like, fuck off mid-movie and never come back. It truly is a thespian masterpiece. What's that? What does G.U.I.N.N.E.S.S. mean? Well, that's too obvious – if you don't know it already, I'm not gonna be the one to explain it to you. 😤
In what might well have been the best decision ever made by Warner Bros. in the history of space and time, they decided to put James Gunn (and Peter Safran, but be honest: did you even know the name before reading about it in the announcement? We certainly didn't) in charge of everything DC! The nerds were ecstatic about the news and decided it was bombastic enough that they needed to talk about it ASAP. Well... Luciano and Matt were, anyway. Chris and Spencer were so distraught that their homeboy Zack Snyder was left entirely out of the deal (and the conversation, really) that they couldn't even make it to this recording. 😏They're also debating forwarding their ideas on how to fix the clusterfuck the DCEU currently finds itself in directly to the new heads of DC Studios. What's the worst that could happen (besides a restraining order), right?
Yeah, yeah, Green Lantern isn't part of the DC Extended Universe, we all know it. The thing is, Luciano had never watched it before, and Chris, Matt and Spencer felt like this was unfair... to them, since the three of them had seen it before. So they went and "convinced" him to do an episode about it, so he was forced to watch it. They clearly didn't think the idea through very well, though, because this meant they had to go watch it again, this time in full knowledge of what they were going to be subjecting themselves to. Well, nobody ever thought they were the brightest, anyway. And, if you ask me, making Luciano suffer through it is worth that pain. 😈 Music:Basic Implosion by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/3420-basic-implosionLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
They've complained. They've whined and bellyached. They've nitpicked. They have poked, prodded and otherwise manhandled each and every DC Extended Universe movie released so far. Now, it's time for them to tell us where they would go from here. This week, Chris, Luciano, Matt and Spencer have fixed the fucking DCEU. Being the prima donnas we know they are, each of them obviously felt the need to come up with their own ideas, so we actually get FOUR potential fixes to choose from. They each picked their favourite out of the other three options at the end, and you, dear listener, will get to vote on your preferred option as well (make sure to follow @yourewrongcast on Twitter to get notified when the poll is posted!).  Hopefully, with these many options and so much guidance on which ones everyone prefers, Warner Bros. will finally be able to make a good decision for a change? Eh, I wouldn't count on it. 😒Music:Basic Implosion by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/3420-basic-implosionLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
This is it! This week, You're Wrong takes on the very last of the current batch of DC Extended Universe movies: Wonder Woman 1984!  I'll be honest: I was actually quite excited about this being the movie they'd concluded their extended DCEU analysis on. I thought, "another Wonder Woman movie, yay! The first one was fun, and this one doesn't have to get into all of that 'origins' crap that first movies need to go through! It can just jump straight into another heartwarming, hopeful story, right? And, holy shit, it's set in the 80's! This is going to be magical! Even those grumpy assholes won't be able to stay grumpy watching this one!"... Hoo, boy. 😟😓Music:Basic Implosion by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/3420-basic-implosionLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
They're finally at the home stretch of their DC Extended Universe deep dive here on You're Wrong! Today, the topic of discussion is second-to-last movie from the current DCEU line-up: Birds of Prey (and the Fantabulous Emancipation of One Harley Quinn) – quite possibly the most obnoxious movie title in the history of space and time. Here's the thing: this one should have actually been two movies. Two separate, almost completely unrelated movies, in fact. But, as we know, Warner Bros. gonna Warner Bros., so what we got was some weird film version of the Frankenstein monster that introduces new, potentially important characters...  by focusing mainly on a completely different (and already introduced!) one. Oh, and one that introduces a wonderfully-hammy new villain and then completely obliterates him, beyond any possible logical salvation.Way to go, WB. Way to go. 🙄Music:Basic Implosion by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/3420-basic-implosionLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
Another week, another analysis of a DC Extended Universe movie! This time, our intrepid hosts will be discussing Shazam! (yes, we're definitely using the acronym; pay no mind to the idiot who wrote the summary... that guy doesn't even know how to format his text properly). One way or another, it seems like all 4 of them at least had fun with the movie, which long-time listeners of this podcast will recognise for the rarity that it is. Well, at least for Luciano and Matt, being the crotchety old farts that they are. Spencer doesn't seem to have reached their levels of grumpiness yet, but I reckon it's only a matter of time. Chris might be spared, though. Even churlishness won't go to Whitby if it can help it. The You're Wrong crew (yeah, I'm done typing all their dumb names – there's too many of them now, and you know who they are) continues their analysis of the DC Extended Universe movies. This week, they'll be squabbling about Aquaman! This movie really got the lads fired up. Whetted their interest. Titilated them. Yeah... it was a very thrilling film to watch... Huh? No, no! Ew. What I meant was that their eyeballs were pleased. They were optically delighted, as it were. Get your mind out of the gutter, sheesh.  Music:Basic Implosion by Kevin MacLeodLink: https://incompetech.filmmusic.io/song/3420-basic-implosionLicense: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
Next on Matt and Luciano's (and Chris and Spencer's) deep dive into the movies of the DC Extended Universe is a wonderful breath of fresh air: Wonder Woman!Set 100 years in the past, in the dawn of the 20th century, this one tells the story of Diana's journey from Amazon princess to fully-fledged hero: her origins, in the wonderland island of Themyscira; her first encounter with Man – one Steve Trevor, who wonders into the magically-hidden isle by accident; her departure from the safety of her ancestral home into the "real" world, a place that quickly fills her with both dread and wonderment; the full impact of humanity's darker side and the wonderlessness of war; and the final fulfilment of her destiny, starting with her wonderworks on the war front and culminating in a wondrous battle against the enemy she was born to counter. You're not going to want to miss this one!(No puns or calembours were harmed in the making of this description.)
