Checkpoints and Autosaves! Dr. Biebs and Taurin "Marksman" Hurley kick back, relax and just talk about everything gaming, from unsolicited, strong opinions about the industry and game design to gushing about games they love.

In this episode we proclaim our excitement for Ghost of Tsushima, and then spend some time talking about Ubisoft's "Forward" streaming event. We stick mostly to the two games they allowed influencers to play, Watch Dogs: Legion and AC: Valhalla and our impressions of the gameplay we've seen so far.

This (week late) podcast was recorded before July 4th and then Dr. Biebs had to move and had no computer for several days. That said, this episode was great fun! We discuss some news and then dive right into a game adapted from the folks as EasyAllies.com called "Kill your Babies". Don't worry, it's not as dark as it sounds - 'babies' in this case are a list of what we consider some of the best and most influential games of all time and we each take turns 'killing' one, which, in this make-believe world we are creating, means that that game never existed! (Please ignore the logical inconsistencies, it's just a game.)
Sorry about the delay! We recorded an episode but weren't happy with it and decided to postpone until we could put out something better. Fortunately that gave Dr. Biebs time to finish Last of Us 2! In this episode, we discuss that in depth, though there are minor spoilers involved. Before that we discuss the Cyberpunk 2077 reveal and our thoughts on some of the new stuff that looks pretty good!
In this episode we spend some conversing about how life has changed since COVID-19, and how the fall will look going forward. But then it's on to more positive, if controversial things! The gaming industry has spawned more than one debate over the years, though none of them are terribly serious. We discuss three here: Should games like "Dark Souls" and "Sekiro" have a difficulty setting? Is Breath of the Wild really that great of a game (or is the hype and praise mostly fueled by big fans of the franchise), aka: would and outsider to the franchise think as highly of this game as those on the inside? And finally, what does it take to create a new "genre". The conversation is pretty good, if a little long, so come join us!
We're back with an extra special episode! Actually this "special" podcast is just the audio from our Saturday stream. We're putting out the audio because it was a lengthy discussion of the PS5 reveal from Sony. We run down the list of games and even have a chat visitor on twitch that we have a short chat with.
Many apologies for the long delay. Many things have been going on lately, between Taurin's moving into a new place, and the social issues that have been overwhelming, we have had difficulty focusing enough to get this episode up. We are going to try and be more consistent with this from here on, but the state of the world is in upheaval at the moment so we make no promises. That said, in this episode we gush about what we take to be the two best games from last year, and two of our most played and most beloved games: God of War and Red Dead Redemption 2.
We're back! After a two year hiatus to deal with life adventures, in the midst of this covid-19 public health crisis, we are back to talk about video games! In this first reboot episode we shake some of the rust off with a rocky opening and an even worse closing, but we discuss some of our favorites from the downtime since we last posted, including Modern Warfare, Spider Man, Animal Crossing, Jedi: Fallen Order, Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice, and Magic Arena.Visit our new site: https://checksandautos.wordpress.com/
In this episode Nate and Taurin talk about the Destiny 2 Beta and why Nate is no good at shooters. Then we fulfill a promise and put Taurin on the spot by making him defend his continued Xbox fandom after all these years (and Microsoft's current direction).Follow us on social:instagram: @checksandautostwitter: @checksandautosyoutube: Checkpoints and AutosavesFacebook: Checkpoints and Autosaves
In this episode, Nate and Taurin discuss Taurin preordering the Xbox one S. Nate rants about Microsoft as usual, and then we discuss games that we wish we wouldn't have preordered. Follow us on social:instagram: @checksandautostwitter: @checksandautosyoutube: Checkpoints and AutosavesFacebook: Checkpoints and Autosaves
In this episode we discuss Nathan finishing Persona 5, a first impression of Just Cause 2, and we share our lists of games that are as much (or more) fun to watch as they are to play - excluding esports games, of course.Follow us on social:instagram: @checksandautostwitter: @checksandautosyoutube: Checkpoints and AutosavesFacebook: Checkpoints and Autosaves
Two months of podcasts and we discuss which things in gaming have, like us, stood the test of time. Games, franchises, and iconic characters that were introduced decades ago but are still going strong today.Follow us on social:instagram: @checksandautostwitter: @checksandautosyoutube: Checkpoints and AutosavesFacebook: Checkpoints and Autosaves
A volatile episode in which we give our list of games that lots of people seem to enjoy, but that we just…don’t. This gets a bit spicy as every entry includes a rant about why we just don’t like these popular games.Follow us on social:instagram: @checksandautostwitter: @checksandautosyoutube: Checkpoints and AutosavesFacebook: Checkpoints and Autosaves
We show off our new mics for the first time, so the sound quality has definitely improved. We play “have you played it, will you play it?” over a large list of recent and upcoming releases (at the time, which was summer 2017). We review Shadows of Mordor, discuss our initial impressions of Persona 5 and end with a discussion of why retro are still fun (if they even are).
We take a quiz about games released in 2016 to see how much trivial knowledge we have. Then discuss the rather odd physical laws and social norms in gaming worlds (honestly, how much does all that gold you’re carrying weigh?! And how many swords can you carry and where are you putting them all?!)

Despite being on a business trip in a hotel, Taurin attempts trivia about Nate’s gaming library, and we discuss at length game mechanics that we hate in some games but absolutely love in others.
In Episode 3 we (briefly) discuss Life is Strange, though we cut most of the discussion for spoiler (which is why it sounds like it ends abruptly). Here’s a spoiler: Nate didn’t like it at all. We then discuss how a gaming company can lose the trust of the consumer.

02. Post E3 2017 blues

In this second episode we discuss each other’s list of “games we’re excited for” from E3 and explain why the games are going to suck and Nathan has a ridiculous rant about Call of Duty games.
Our first ever episode in which we discuss games announced at E3 2017 and which we were most looking forward to.
