Joey Lau is a multidisciplinary artist residing in Toronto, Canada and currently serving as Artistic and General Administrator at Tapestry Opera. After receiving her BFA in theatre production from Ryerson University, Joey’s work varied in stage management, scenic art, performing arts education, and theatre administration. Joey was selected as the 2020-2021 Royal Bank of Canada Apprentice Stage Manager with The Musical Stage Company to elevate her stage management skills in the Canadian Musical Theatre scene; and her recent works in education and/or scenic art include Flato Markham Theatre, Living Arts Centre, Electric Moon Theatre Company, City Youth Players, Canadian Opera Company and Toronto Union.  Your Creative Journey explores the challenges creators can face as they forge their own paths. Based in Wellington, New Zealand, Jacqui Bree has been involved in film, television, and theatre for nearly 20 years. Jacqui's experiences have run the gauntlet of being a student director for the London Shakespeare Globe Theatre, a Diploma of Performing Arts from the Trinity School of London, working for Netflix in Queenstown, NZ, being a script editor for William Davies; one of the writers of How to Train a Dragon and Johnny English, as well as being a producer/director of award-winning short films produced in New Zealand. Kevin Gregg & Paul Carganilla discuss creativity and inspiration with this week's special guest: Actor/filmmaker Vinnie Duyck Vinnie was raised on his family's diversified dairy farm a half-hour west of Portland, Oregon. After college, Vinnie moved to Wellington, New Zealand where he lived for a year and a half before returning to Portland, Oregon to study at the Portland Actors Conservatory. After completing a two-year intensive dramatic acting program, Vinnie studied and performed improv in Portland for another year. To escape his cripplingly supportive environment Vinnie moved to LA to further his acting career. He continued his comedic improv training at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre and now performs musical improv regularly--mostly in LA, occasionally in New York, and sometimes even with an audience. Recently he’s branched out into other creative ventures including writing a novel during the pandemic and crafting puppets which have been part of his new musical improv.Highlights from this episode include:Vinnie’s experience working on a farm as a kidVinnie moving to New Zealand trying to land an internship at Peter Jackson’s Weta. Watts is an artist with an extensive career as an illustrator, oil painter, and teacher.After working in the movie industry Jeff achieved his goal to become an easel painter which led him to create his painting studio known as Watts Atelier of the Arts. ( www.wattsatelier.com ) Jeff's aesthetic sensibilities have long drawn him to the figurative art of nineteenth-century Europe and Russia. His Atelier allows him to work regularly from the live model, grounding his work in traditional principles. In 2008 The Taos Art Museum and Fechin House honored Watts with a Solo Exhibition in the original Taos home and studio of Mr. Nicolai Fechin. Jeff's oil paintings have won numerous awards including First Place Portrait category and Second Place Landscape category from the Artist's Magazine, two consecutive Second Place Awards at the Salon International Exhibition, an Honor Award and an Award of Exceptional Merit from the Portrait Society of America, 3 Awards of Excellence from Oil Painters of America and 3 Top 100 Awards from Arts for the Parks among others. Watts's work has been featured in Southwest Art, American Artist, Art of the West, Western Art Collector, American Art Collector, Drawing, and Workshop magazines. Jeffrey R. Watts is a Master Signature member of Oil Painters of America, a Signature Member of both the Laguna Plein Air Painters Association and the California Art Club, and holds membership in the Portrait Society of America.
Theatre Director and Actor Chris Utley joins Kevin and Paul on this week's episode of Your Creative Journey.Chris currently serves as a staff Show Director for The Disneyland Resort. In addition to his work for Disney, Chris wrote and directed the 2017 Greenshow for the Utah Shakespeare Festival.
