Step 12 is:  “Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to others, and to practice these principles in all our affairs.”Here is a little about Kimia:  Kimia is one of the founding members of the Big Book Sponsorship Group, an online Twelve Steps global recovery network - incepted from the Toronto Wednesday SLAA Big Book Meeting -  also known as Spiritual Gangsters on WhatsApp. She has entered the world of recovery via the rooms of CA, Al-Anon and SLAA in Toronto and has never left. An intelligent agent of Love and a spearhead of God's ever advancing Creation, Kimia has dedicated her life to full-time service, serving humynkind in their desire to stop living out a pattern of addiction and connecting the suffering newcomer to a sponsor who would guide them through a one on one study of the steps as described in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. From building a comprehensive network of Big Book sponsorship for all addictions and afflictions to training and empowering other recovering fellows to be of service, Kimia remains humbled in the fundamental understanding that helping others is the foundation stone of her recovery - that nothing will so much insure immunity from drinking/thinking as intensive work with other alcoholics/addicts.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  Speakers from our past meetings have represented many fellowships and identify with addictions with such variety of alcoholism, drugs, food, sex, gambling, theft, co-dependency, and several anon groups, just to name a few.  Each Friday at noon central time, we hold a live, lunch-hour speaker meeting with a recovering addict from anywhere on Earth, pertaining to any or no faith tradition, and with any background, who shares their experience, strength, and hope on a specified recovery topic of their choice. Reco12 is a self-supporting service and we appreciate your help in keeping it that way.  We gratefully accept contributions to help cover the costs of the Zoom platform, podcast platform, web hosting, and administrative costs.  To contribute, you can go to https://www.reco12.com/support  or you can click the link to PayPal (https://www.paypal.me/reco12)  in the chat of the live meeting.  When you contribute, please specify the meeting number.  This is meeting number 102. Step 11 is:  “Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood Him, praying only for knowledge of His will for us and the power to carry that out.”Here is a little about Nicki M(squared):  Nicki M (squared) is new to these recovery rooms. Before September 2021, she was an undiagnosed addict for nearly 30 years before finding the 12-step Big Book Sponsorship lifestyle.  Nicki flew through the 12-steps and began sponsoring women right away.  She continues to do her best to show her children and her Self to do the next right thing.  Nicki believes deeply in the power of prayer and meditation, and found out her yogi life prior to these rooms aligns with recovery beautifully.  Without questioning how she found Spiritual Gangsters fellowship, Nicki M (squared) strives every moment to live these steps, this simple but not always easy recipe.  She is forever grateful for finding her God, the pioneers of AA, the ZOOM and F2F meetings, her service work, sponsees, children, beautifully healthy relationship, and the list goes on.  It truly works, if we work it.  Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path. Step 10 is:  “Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it.”Here is a little about David A in his own words:  “My name is David. I got sober through the BI\ig Book of AA and the "Back to Basics- Beginner Meetings" of Wally P. I have been sober from drugs and alcohol since October  23rd, 2013. Since then I have also entered into sex recovery, sober since july 25th 2020. My primary "S"-programs are PAA/SAA, but have found much support and truth in SA, as well as help from SLAA.  I have also found much help in my life from ACA and OA. Living in steps 10,11 and 12, and the yardsticks of the 4 absolutes, permit me an ever-growing and deepening relationship with a  higher power who loves me unconditionally. This helps keep me sober and teaches me to view myself and others with love--not  to be confused with lack of boundaries or people-pleasing. Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path. The next 12 weeks of episodes are NOT intended to replace the necessity of working with a sponsor through the Steps. We will not be “working the steps” in these meetings. Step 9 is:  “Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others." Daniel T is sober in his primary program since December 16th 2016.A true addict, Daniel has addicted to anything that is possible to be addicted to - often cross addicting several times a day in active addiction. Some of his top plates include sex, relationships, marijuana, cocaine, workaholism. gambling, codependency and a healthy dose of anonism alongside what he calls anonanonism - which is being an anon to anons.Daniel has taken recovery very seriously (after taking his addiction seriously for many years) - working the steps several times with different focuses and being heavily involved in sponsorship and service at multiple levels of the service structure. Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  Speakers from our past meetings have represented many fellowships and identify with addictions with such variety of alcoholism, drugs, food, sex, gambling, theft, just to name a few.  Normally, Each Friday at noon central time, we hold a live, lunch-hour speaker meeting with a recovering addict from anywhere on Earth, pertaining to any or no faith tradition, and with any background, who shares their experience, strength, and hope on a specified recovery topic of their choice.  Today, we are obviously recording on Wednesday instead, and it is for good reason.  We will go back to Fridays next week.  For the 12 week period that we started on March 4, 2022 through May 20th, 2022, we are focusing on each of the 12 Steps of Recovery. This is meeting number 99.  Resources from this meeting:Sexaholics AnonymousFirst 164 BlogSA Fireside Chat Podcast (Daniel's Podcast)Outro music is “Standing Still” by Cory Ellsworth and Randy Kartchner, performed by Mike Eldred and Elizabeth Wolfe.  This song, and/or the entire soundtrack for the future Broadway musical, “Crosses:  A Musical of Hope”, can be purchased here:  https://music.apple.com/us/album/crosses-musical-hope-by-cory/528476262  This song is used with the  permission of Cory Ellsworth.Support the show (https://www.reco12.com/support)
Step 8 is:  “Made a list of all persons we have harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all.”Here is a little about Debbie B in her own words:  “My name is Debbie and I am an alcoholic.  I found recovery in April 13, 2007 and have stayed since then, one day at a time.  I work with many women in the program, as well as my sponsor.  I do service work and lots of meetings.  I try always to stay in the middle. I am so very grateful to so many people.  I love AA.  I hope all of you choose to stay in recovery. Each Friday at noon central time, we hold a live, lunch-hour speaker meeting with a recovering addict from anywhere on Earth, pertaining to any or no faith tradition, and with any background, who shares their experience, strength, and hope on a specified recovery topic of their choice.  For the 12 week period that we started on March 4, 2022 through May 20th, 2022, we are focusing on each of the 12 Steps of Recovery. This is meeting number 98.  Resources from this meeting:Alcoholics AnonymousBig Book of Alcoholics Anonymous Outro music is “Standing Still” by Cory Ellsworth and Randy Kartchner, performed by Mike Eldred and Elizabeth Wolfe.
Step 7 is:  “Humbly asked Him to remove our shortcomings.”Jon R struggled with addiction throughout his teenage years and went into residential treatment at the age of 19 for alcohol and drug use.  After treatment, he earned a degree in Psychology and an MBA.Upon graduation, he got married, started a family, and within months of finishing his MBA program, Jon was diagnosed with advanced-stage thyroid cancer in early 2003. As a result of complications from his first surgery, Jon was prescribed oxycontin. This quickly progressed to include alcohol and other mind-altering substances. Jon’s story involves a 14-year struggle with drugs and alcohol, losing his career, and nearly losing his family. He tried using the knowledge from his education to fight this disease and felt too much shame to ask for help. In desperation, he said a prayer and asked for help. His prayer was answered in a remarkable way and continues to be answered every day since.   On Aug 24, 2017, he went into a treatment program and now has an opportunity to work in recovery where he uses his experience to help others. He is actively involved in AA with his personal recovery and serves on the board for the non-profit recovery club in his community.  He is excited to share his experience, strength and hope about Step 7 with us.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path. Step 6 is:  “Were entirely ready to have God remove ALL these defects of character.”David G. from Oklahoma was the guest speaker at the 80th Reco12 meeting back in December 2021. David was a sponsee of Charlie P. from "Joe and Charlie," and has been sharing experience, strength, and hope for 27 years. He had a miraculous and life-changing spiritual experience as the result of working the 12 Steps outlined within the Big Book. He is a recovered sexholic/lustaholic, alcoholic, and drug addict with a sobriety date of August 8th, 1994 and is a grateful member of SA, AA, and NA.David learned he didn't know how to grow and develop his experience and soon found yesterday's miracle wasn't sufficient for today. After reaching an emotional bottom in sobriety, he learned that he suffered from a spiritual illness brought on by a human condition – self. He recovered emotionally in 2019 and has walked a free man ever since! As the founding member of the Freedom Seekers group, David tries to carry the message to the addict who still suffers. The Freedom Seekers is an addiction-inclusive fellowship of sober and recovered men from drugs, alcohol, sex addiction, and more. The Freedom Seekers are growing in strength and numbers every day and are now up to 30 men within their lineage. His talk today on Step 6 is based on a quote on page 13 of Bill's Story in the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous: "I ruthlessly faced my sins and became willing to have my new-found Friend take them away, root and branch. I have not had a drink since."Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  Speakers from our past meetings have represented many fellowships and identify with addictions with such variety of alcoholism, drugs, food, sex, gambling, theft, just to name a few. Our speaker today will share for 20-25 minutes on his experience with Step 6, and then the live audience gets the opportunity to ask questions of him for another 20-25 minutes.  Reco12 is a self-supporting service and we appreciate your help in keeping it that way. Step 5 is:  “Admitted to God, to ourselves, and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs."Eric H is a 42 year old practicing Roman Catholic.  He was married at the age of 24 while in active addiction.  After having an emotional affair for several months at the age of 40, that same woman introduced him to the SA program.  Eric knew that if he was going to continue in addiction that it would bring shame and damage to himself, his family, and his faith community.  He entered the rooms on January 16, 2020.  His oldest daughter, 5 at the time, was emotionally detaching.  Eric was having visions of living his fantasies vicariously through her.  These became the founding ideas upon which his first step was built and why he finds the 5th step so important to recovery. Eric’s current mission is to practice these principles in all his affairs and to teach his family to practice them as well. Our speaker today will share for 20-25 minutes on his experience with Step 5, and then the live audience gets the opportunity to ask questions of him for another 20-25 minutes.  To get weekly invitations to join us, please go to www.reco12.com/join-us and submit your email address there to get the reminders and links.Reco12 is a self-supporting service and we appreciate your help in keeping it that way. This is meeting number 95.  Outro music is “Standing Still” by Cory Ellsworth and Randy Kartchner, performed by Mike Eldred and Elizabeth Wolfe.

Step 2 is:  “Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity”.  Sarvy P came in through the back doors of SLAA to discover she had a debilitating addiction to marijuana. A mother of two small children, she could not afford to lose a single thing more. By God’s grace, she woke up. From Iran to Toronto to California, the immigrant experience is interwoven into her journey as an addict. Sarvy has ventured from disconnection and denial to alignment and awakening. Her story is about somebody who had a sudden and profound spiritual experience, and through staying in the work, has been enabled to continue to allow big doses of God into her life. Each Friday at noon central time, we hold a live, lunch-hour speaker meeting with a recovering addict from anywhere on Earth, pertaining to any or no faith tradition, and with any background, who shares their experience, strength, and hope on a specified recovery topic of their choice.  For the 12 week period from March 4, 2022 through May 20th, 2022, we will be focusing on each of the 12 Steps of Recovery.  Our speaker today will share for 20-25 minutes on her experience with Step 2, and then the live audience gets the opportunity to ask questions of her for another 20-25 minutes. Robert first came to Recovery through the back doors of Gamblers Anonymous in December 1985. Trying to overcome his gambling disorder Robert quickly learned that he had more than a gambling problem. As his life would begin to deteriorate around him, Robert finally went into treatment on February 9 of 1986 in Las Vegas Nevada. When Robert arrived he was addicted to alcohol, drugs, pornography, gambling, compulsive over eating and bulimia. Robert would stay sober for 71 days and then his lack of honesty resulted in a relapse. Robert returned to Alcoholics Anonymous April 25 of 1986 and has been clean and sober ever since. Robert runs a website called recoveryguy.org and is on most all social media channels. Robert publishes a blog every Thursday and a fresh podcast every Tuesday. Here is a little about Nancy in her own words.  "I was taken to my first meeting of OA January 28, 1975 at Beverly Hills High School more than 45 years Ago.   At that time I weighed approximately 300lbs. I was trying to separate from a man who was beating me up on a daily basis, now called a battered wife.  I had a seven an 9 year old totally out of control from neglect.  I had smuggled dope across border with Heroin Addicts to have friends. I thought if I helped them, I could have a friend.  I was arrested and taken to jail. I was a fat kid and fat my entire life.  Spent a decade on drugs given to me by top physicians in order to lose weight.   My parents had me institutionalized.  They mortgaged their home but I still got bigger. I now am a woman who has dignity.  I put in my mouth what nurtures me and only have friends that are kind to me.  They say beyond your wildest dreams. I had no dreams. This disease took them all away so how do I live now?  ….free of shame and resentment and anger it is called happy, joyous, and free." Nancy is also active in AA and a member of  alanon, aca, coda, and emotional health anonymous.  I am a world service delegate and regional delegate and served on the local intergroup board and active in aa hospitals and institutions and worked as an addiction counselor. Resources from this meeting:Overeaters AnonymousAlcoholics AnonymousAdult Children of AlcoholicsCODANarcotics AnonymousGamblers AnonyousFat is a Family Affair (book)Sugar Blues (book)Nanci's Prayer that she shared: Happy Moments                  Praise GodDifficult Moments                 Seek GodQuiet Moments.                   Worship GodPainful Moments.                 Trust GodEvery Moment.                     THANK GODIf you wish to contact Nanci, her email is: nancigo@yahoo.comOutro music is “Standing Still” by Cory Ellsworth and Randy Kartchner, performed by Mike Eldred and Elizabeth Wolfe.
Here is a little about Cheryl.  She often says, "Slowbriety" – She is 26 years in recovery. Her great dependency on human aid was killing her; it took on the form of para-alcoholism / codependency. She made it to Al-anon and after many years there went onto several other 12 step fellowships – Overeaters Anonymous and Food addicts Anonymous, and Debtors Anonymous. These fellowships helped, however she had lots of information with very little transformation.  After reading an article published by Bill W. in 1958 called “The Next Frontier: Emotional Sobriety” -- She arrived at the door of Adult Children of Alcoholics. This is where her life started to take on new meaning. she can honestly say that she is coming to – a state of consciousness, awakened spiritually. Step 2 –is not that I am crazy or insane rather the Latin term Sanitey = the condition of having a healthy mind.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  Speakers from our past meetings have represented many fellowships and identify with addictions with such variety of alcoholism, drugs, food, sex, gambling, theft, just to name a few.  Each Friday at noon central time, we hold a live, lunch-hour speaker meeting with a recovering addict from anywhere on Earth, pertaining to any or no faith tradition, and with any background, who shares their experience, strength, and hope on a specified recovery topic of their choice.  They share for 20-25 minutes on that topic, and then the live audience gets the opportunity to ask questions of that speaker for another 20-25 minutes. This is meeting number 89.  Resources from this episode:Al-AnonOvereaters AnonymousFADebtors AnonymousAdult Children of AlcoholicsSpiritual Gangsters link to meetingsBig Book SponsorshipBig Red Book of ACACODASLAAOutro music is “Standing Still” by Cory Ellsworth and Randy Kartchner, performed by Mike Eldred and Elizabeth Wolfe.

This is a replay of a previous meeting, meeting 21, with Damon W.  Sentenced to sixty-five years in a Texas prison, Damon once had it all.  At 20 years old, he was a Division 1 starting quarterback, after a career-ending injury, Damon was by all outside appearances, very successful.  It all came crashing down when he turned to hard core drugs to cope with disappointments of life.  After a fateful discussion during his incarceration with a seasoned convict, Damon had a spiritual awakening. He learned a lesson about a single coffee bean that changed his whole perspective. Armed with a program of recovery, a renewed faith, and a miraculous second chance at life, Damon emerged from over seven years of prison a changed man. His story of redemption, grit and determination continues to inspire many today, and I know it will inspire you.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  Speakers from our past meetings have represented many, many fellowships and identify with addictions with such variety of alcohol, drugs, food, sex, gambling, theft, just to name a few. Reco12 is an ad-free service and we appreciate your help in keeping it that way. This is meeting number 86.Resources from this meeting:Damon West WebsiteThe Coffee Bean BookNAAlcoholics AnonymousSupport the show (https://www.reco12.com/support)
Dara L is a recovered anorexic, bulimic, compulsive overeater, sex and love addict and a grateful member of OA and SLAA. She has hit many spectacular bottoms in her lifetime and has finally found recovery through surrendering all aspects of her addictions. Her story offers a powerful example of how not all addicts are served by treating their addictions in the order that they kill you. In her case, it was treating two addictions simultaneously that enabled her to discover the unconditional love of a Higher Power.Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  Speakers from our past meetings have represented many, many fellowships and identify with addictions with such variety of alcohol, drugs, food, sex, gambling, theft, just to name a few. Resources from this meeting: Overeaters AnonymousSex and Love Addicts AnonymousSupport the show (https://www.reco12.com/support)
Guest Intro and Bio in Eric’s own  words:  Today I celebrate my 2 year sobriety birthday!  I’ve been a Sexaholic forever, and finally, two years ago, I was finally ready to admit to myself that my life was a mess.  My addiction was taking over all aspects of my life and I saw a vision of everything I claimed to care about slipping away.  I came into SA on the heels of an emotional affair that ended in 2019.  I truly thought at the time that I was going to have to suffer with this affliction for the rest of my life.  SA and my HP saved my life. The thing I craved most and never got as a child was emotional connections.  I’ve found the Real Connection here in the rooms of SA and it’s given me the tools to use to make those connections in all aspects of my life. Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  Speakers from our past meetings have represented many, many fellowships and identify with addictions with such variety of alcohol, drugs, food, sex, gambling, theft, just to name a few. This is meeting number 84.  Resources referenced:Sexaholics AnonymousOutro music is “Standing Still” by Cory Ellsworth and Randy Kartchner, performed by Mike Eldred and Elizabeth Wolfe.
Andrew:  is a 47 year old recovering sexoholic,  sober for 6 years. He joined the SA fellowship 11 years ago. He does his step work and has a sponsor and a few sponsees in SA.  He has also worked the steps in CODA.  He is clean from drugs for 23 years but has never joined a drug fellowship. Recently he started to do part-time work as an addiction therapist  in a small clinic that specializes in sex addiction.  In recovery he found God and God's guidance.  Thanks to His grace he has been married for 2 years to his lovely wife Sara who he first met in SA. This last year in July, their baby girl was born and right now he is living the life he had never expected to be possible.Sara: is a 30 year old recovering sex addict, sober from lust thanks to God's grace for 4.5 years. She has worked the 12 step program with a sponsor and served as a sponsor to other female sex addicts in her fellowship. Since she is married to another recovering sex addict is a part of the S-Anon fellowship which helps her to address the patterns of codependency and heal from them as well. When she first joined the SA fellowship she was a broken woman. She felt like her life was over. She reached my lowest low and didn't expect there was any decent life possible after that. But God in His goodness made her recover rapidly and soon after, gave her a wonderful husband and best friend- Andrew. They have their highs and lows but mutual faith and the 12 steps principles keep them close and make their marriage flourish. The Reco12 project which is an organization whose addictions include alcohol, drugs, lust and sex, food and gambling, just to name a few.  We come together from all places, faiths and backgrounds to learn the similarities of addiction and to gain tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path.  We invite recovering addicts with at least 1 year sobriety and who are actively working their recovery in their respective fellowships to share their experience, strength and hope on a live Zoom webinar, each Friday at 12:00 pm central time, for 20-25 minutes.  Then, we, the live audience, get the opportunity to ask questions of the speaker for another 20-25 minutes.  If you are hearing this meeting in recorded podcast form and would like to participate as a live audience member in the future, please go to www.reco12.com to learn more and submit your email address there to receive weekly invitations. This is meeting number 83.  Resources:  Sexaholics AnonymousOutro music is “Standing Still” by Cory Ellsworth and Randy Kartchner, performed by Mike Eldred and Elizabeth Wolfe.
