Brian and Cam discuss the Florida Swing starting with the Honda Classic this week. Fleetwood is listed as a slight favorite, but Fleetwood, Koepka and Fowler have similar odds. Brian and Cam point out that the oddsmakers have Daniel Berger at much lower odds than usual because Berger does well at PGA National and Cam starts his selections with Berger. Brian and Cam also look back at last week’s WGC-Mexico Championship and lament that their pick, Bryson DeChambeau, gave away the lead down the stretch, as Patrick Reed won the tournament. Brian begins his selections this week with Erik Van Rooyen, who played really well last week in Mexico. Brian has some bombs this week, as he is taking Harry Higgs and Dylan Frittelli at long-shot odds. He is also considering Kurt Kitayama, who decided not to defend his title in Oman and to play in this event instead. Cam has a couple of long-shots in Emiliano Grillo at 60-1 and Matthew NeSmith who is listed at odds of 80-1, and Cam added Brian Harman at odds of 80-1 as another pick. This week Brian and Cam vent about their tough betting losses in last week’s Waste Management Phoenix Open that was won by Webb Simpson. The guys are eager for this week’s new golf betting card on Pebble Beach. On last week’s episode (01/27/2020) of The Betmaker Show - PGA Golf Betting Odds and Picks Preview, Brian and Cam mentioned that the winners continue to come late almost every week. As a result, Brian is gravitating towards taking hard looks at the Friday night golf betting odds. He sees opportunity in taking quality players at good prices that are four or five shots down heading into the weekend. Cam points out that top favorite Dustin Johnson will arrive from a long trip abroad that could damage his betting value. By contrast, Daniel Berger, Alex Noren, Rafael Cabrera Bello, and Max Homa are seen as potentially good values by the guys this week. Pat Perez is another potential play for Brian, while Nate Lashley has caught Cam’s eye. Brian also mentioned Ted Potter Jr based on his win in this tournament two years ago. Cam likes the pick as well for a good 200/1 “bomb” play. In particular, the guys really like Berger this week. They also have an interesting theory that serious golfers could be at a disadvantage due to the celebrity aspect of this week’s tournament. On this week’s episode of The Betmaker Show - PGA Golf Betting Odds and Picks Preview, Brian and Cam open by discussing how gamblers should make money at the end of each golf season due to the big odds that can be taken advantage of compared to other sports. Brian discusses just how difficult it is for players to close out a tournament win. On that subject, Cam outlines how he likes to choose strong trailing players with enhanced betting value on Sunday mornings to make a charge in the final round. Cam likes Bubba Watson this week, but Brian disagreed based on the TPC course. Brian thinks Watson holds more promise in later tournaments. Brian also correlated success in the President’s Cup with recent results. Cameron Smith was mentioned as a prime example of this. Cam mentioned that Brandon Grace could be a strong value this week at 80/1. Sungjae Im was pegged by Brian as a good choice along with Smith. Both agreed that in tournaments such as this anyone can win and that long shots merit serious consideration. Brian and Cam agreed that top favorite Jon Rahm looks strong but lacks good opening board value. As a result, it may be smart to wait on Rahm towards the end of the tournament when the price may be more advantageous.
