A special edition by Peter Jakob and Joanne Buchmüller, writer and Specialist Family and  Systemic Psychotherapist in which they discuss the dilemmas in how NVR can be used to support parents and their children with  Neurodivergence.  They highlight how the exploration of parental erasure and not mattering are the starting points and that resistance methods such as announcements are secondary ways in which parents raise presence, hear their own voice and sense of agency. They caution on the dangers of focusing solely on the methods as a potential to further parental erasure. They also share other important shifts from the classical ideas and how to 'pare back' and simplify methods so that they can be used across children's whole development.  Enjoy.PartnershipProjects is the UK's leading NVR (Non-Violent Resistance) Training provider for professionals and parent coaching. Our professional Podcasts are hosted by highly qualified trainers and practitioners, including Shila Desai, Jill Lubienski, Dr Peter Jakob, Rachael Aylmer, and influential guests. In this episode Jill Lubienski and Dr Peter Jakob discuss the wider applications of NVR, focusing on areas of practice not originally considered within the NVR family approach developed by Haim Omer. Discussion includes how NVR could be used for example in situations where a young person refuses to comply with diabetic medication; in communities where there is gang-related violence; how practitioners might utilise imaginary methods with siblings to resist escalation; and NVR practices in wider systemic contexts around the family.  Peter talks about his own work on 'Vectors of Resistance' and considers how practitioners can raise their presence and accountability and resist collusion with oppressive systems, using NVR methods to challenge parent blaming practices. Jill and Peter encourage practitioners to speak freely about the more non-traditional edges of NVR practice they are involved in and invite questions on these new areas for future consideration and discussion.PartnershipProjects is the UK's leading NVR (Non-Violent Resistance) Training provider for professionals and parent coaching. Our professional Podcasts are hosted by highly qualified trainers and practitioners, including Shila Desai, Jill Lubienski, Dr Peter Jakob, Rachael Aylmer, and influential guests. In this episode, Jill Lubienski and Peter Jakob discuss possibilities for how to keep going in tough times. Peter and Jill elaborate on a metaphor of climbing a mountain -  how our work in NVR and within the systems in which we are located, can be akin to such an experience, where we have to find ways of coping in unfamiliar locations and in inclement weather, employing various resources and survival skills which we may have needed in the past, but forgotten. Jill and Peter discuss their ideas of what helps us to reignite our energy to keep going. What puts us in touch with our resources and creativity? How and when NVR can be a map to help navigate this treacherous terrain? What sort of support from others can help keep us from falling into despair and unhelpful blaming patterns?  Importantly, what can ultimately make our work sweeter?PartnershipProjects is the UK's leading NVR (Non-Violent Resistance) Training provider for professionals and parent coaching. Our professional Podcasts are hosted by highly qualified trainers and practitioners, including Shila Desai, Jill Lubienski, Dr Peter Jakob, Rachael Aylmer, and influential guests. Peter Jakob introduces Shila Desai and together they discuss the idea of how to cultivate stillness in the demands and uncertainties that families and practitioners face. The idea of a First Aid Still Box is explored and how both physical supplies and mentalising practices   can be included in such a box  to create a halt before taking action. PartnershipProjects is the UK's leading NVR (Non-Violent Resistance) Training provider for professionals and parent coaching. Our professional Podcasts are hosted by highly qualified trainers and practitioners, including Shila Desai, Jill Lubienski, Dr Peter Jakob, Rachael Aylmer, and influential guests.
