How does an eating disorder develop? An eating disorder often starts innocently - as a goal to lose just a couple of pounds, a desire to try a new diet, or get ready for the holiday season. The way eating disorders develop is slow and gradual, making the signs of an eating disorder hard to spot early on. Very often, there is a unique combination of multiple factors that have led us to develop an eating disorder.
