Tales of human and animal companionship dates back in history for as long as one can remember. In medieval times, it was a very uncommon phenomenon to gift a king an exotic animal. While it was looked at as a fancy gift, the problem was more about a lack of understanding of what that creature was. And no matter how pampered and loved your companion would have been, this very lack of awareness would lead to its demise. However, that doesn't change the fact that these animals were infact loved. We bring to you the welcoming moments of King Hendry's elephant in 1212.  Please remember The Wilderness Live is run by a group of graduate students and friends, so please leave us a like, subscribe, and definitely share our content if you liked it! Tales of human and animal companionship dates back in history for as long as one can remember. History has witnessed a lot of cruelty when it came to using animals as warfare. The deadliest animal to be used in warfare was perhaps the elephants. The Mughal King Akbar was known to have the largest elephantry in the world at the time. And he had a secret as to why. One of his favorite war elephant was one known as Hawaii, and this episode is their story.  Please remember The Wilderness Live is run by a group of graduate students and friends, so please leave us a like, subscribe, and definitely share our content if you liked it! These stories are almost dated back to 1090 AD to the times of the ancient rulers. The rulers may have been less than admirable but their dedication to their beloved companions were incomparable to anything we have seen in the modern times. They did not love them because it gave them an edge with a political alliance, they loved them because they can. Maybe it's still not all that late for us to realise that we are missing out something so pure and beautiful and one day we will come to this realization. Till then enjoy these ancient accounts of rulers and their companions.  --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/the-wilderness-live/message
