This is an unusual situation, isn't it? Two Wyrd Ways Rock Shows, two weeks in a row?! Is it a sign of The End Times?!With the political situation in the US, it might just be that.Anyway, continuing the policy of getting more women and marginalized communities onto the show (so long as they're making good music), there's loads of new stuff about to pour out of your earphones, or whatever it is you're listening on.This week's show was helped into being by all the PRs who send me music to play to you, the members of Vanitas, the ComeCurious podcast and the Instagram and OF presences of @hoopsydaisy, @MercedesValentine, @Raven_alternative and @AliceLovegood.
Not done one of these since July, and it's now November.  Oops.Been a busy few months at Castle Wyrd Ways.  That's why there's been a big delay.  You've listened to the interviews I did at at Stonedead, right?Anyway.  As usual, there's loads of new stuff, including tracks from Celavi, Grand Magus and loads of others.  You can see it in the tracklisting on the Wyrd Ways Rock Show website. There's another reason I got this finished this weekend.  Anger.  Anger at what's happened in America.  How can over half the voting population of the country be so damned stupid, racist, homophobic and just plain wrong?  I suppose this is what happens when the religious fundies kicked out of Europe create their own country. So as from now, The Wyrd Ways Rock Show is going to be platforming women, sex workers and members of the BIPOC and LGBTQIA+ communities.  We are Metal.  We are the outsiders and outsiders have to stick together.  If you voted for Trump, I don't want you listening to my show anymore.  You spread hate?  You're not welcome here.
Welcome to the latest edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show. This month (although I may try to get another one out this month before Stonedead), we’re bringing you a solid lineup of new music from across the metal spectrum. As always, we’re keeping it real – mistakes, verbal hiccups, and all.  But not literally hiccups this time out. We’ve got fresh tracks from experienced heads like Deep Purple, Powerwolf, Flotsam and Jetsam and Anvil and emerging talent, namely Defences, Alt Blk Era, Scene Queen and Soulfracture, showcasing the diversity of today’s metal scene. Expect about two hours of hard-hitting tunes that’ll keep your Mosh Buffer working overtime. So turn it up and enjoy another round of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show – where the music does the talking. Except when I’m doing it.
May was ridiculously busy this year.  So much assignment marking to be done, so I wasn't in the right brain space for the work of putting a show together.  Then there was The Final Shape...Anyway, Download 2024 was another mudbath that I'm glad I didn't attend, I can't got to SOS Festival in a couple of weeks because of transport issues and I appear to have a chest infection.  That's why I sound so croaky.  Ended up taking a day or so off work, which just shows you how crappy I feel.  I'm not one for going off sick unless I absolutely have to.Have a couple of hours (or near enough) of quality Rock and Metal.
It’s OK, folks, The Wyrd Ways Rock Show is back for another blast of quality Rock and Metal, just the way you love it.It’s May and Festival Season is just getting going.  Here in the UK we’ve got Download, Stonedead and Bloodstock, in France there’s Hellfest and in Germany, there’s Wacken Open Air.  Unfortunately Metal Days has been cancelled, but there’s loads of others, large and small all over Europe.  America’s got a few (Sick New World, Maryland Deathfest, When We Were Young for the Emo crowd)… so it’s all kicking off worldwide. If you want some new music to listen to if you can’t get to any of those, or you need something to listen to on the way, stick on an edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show and turn it up.  Loads of new stuff to pique your interest and burn out your Mosh Buffers.Let’s do it.
8th March was International Women's Day.  It would also seem that March is Women's History Month.  It would have been nice to actually have been informed of that.  Anyway, this edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show celebrates and commemorates the role of women in Metal. This one doesn't just look backwards. I'm not looking at the already established. That's why Doro, Nightwish, Butcher Babies, Leaves Eyes and so on aren't in the playlist.  OK, I sneaked in some White Zombie, but the rest is current and up-and -coming.  I've not even included anything by Alt Blk Era or Wargasm because I play their stuff regularly.Anyway, there's some good stuff here, so play it loud.
This one came together a lot quicker than I was expecting, to be honest.  I just happened to find a lot of stuff that I wanted to play on the show over the last few days, so I thought I'd just record and publish. There's more than the normal amount of Power and Symphonic Metal in this one, quite a lot of it being from Italy. That was mostly because it was precisely what I've been in the mood for for the past few days.  Power Metal is excellent for when you just want to elevate your mood, isn't it?  Certainly works for me.Weirdly, there's also a song from the Republic Of Ireland's entrant for Eurovision in there somewhere.  Seriously.Anyway, as usual, you can find me (and a lot of these bands) on Instagram and TikTok.  Give them a follow.  Give me a follow too, while you're there.  You can find me at WyrdWaysRockShow on both platforms.  Come and say "hello".  Also remember to subscribe to the podcast on your favourite podcast app.
January was a bit of a git, wasn't it?  At least we've got the music to help get us through.  Some cracking new stuff came out, some of which you'll get to listen to when you listen to the show.  Plug in your headphones, turn it up, relax, get in the moment and let the soothing sounds of some excellent Heavy Metal take you to your happy place.
This is definitely the last edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show for 2023.  I'm certainly not going to have the time to produce another one in the next few hours before midnight and the beginning of 2024. I hope everyone reading this had an excellent Christmas, Hanukkah, Kwanzaa, Yule, Zarathosht Diso or whatever you celebrate at the end of December each year. Here's the running order, with links to each of the bands' website, Instagram or Bandcamp accounts:All For Metal - RunBlood Python - The Gods That Fell To EarthAsomvel - Every Dog Has It's DayDoro - True Metal ManiacsSateilija - IkiyoJordsjuk - Siste SkanseVoltumna - VanthAlmost Dead - Commandments Of CoercionCognizance - Chiselled In StoneFinal Coil - ChemtrailsMetalite - Blazing SkiesTherion - NummoSylvania - El Río de los LamentosBorknagar - SummitsHyperia - Automatic Thrash MachineJenner - Prove Them WrongThe Rods - Rattle The CageDymytry - Everything Is BlackExilia - Sky Is Falling DownShylmagoghnar - EgregoreHanabie - Be The GAL - Early Summer VersionVENUES - Radiate MeScarefield - House Of The Rising Sun
Incredibly, a second edition in less than a week.  You can tell I’m on holiday, can’t you?Be warned: there are a few naughty words in this show, and if you’re a gammon, a TERF, a homophobe or have any prejudices against anyone in the LGBTIA+ group… or, to be honest, anyone who is classed as having a “protected characteristic” (to give it in terms of the law here in the UK), you can fuck right off.In musical terms, if you like your Hard Rock and Metal, I would say there’s definitely something for you in this show.  I also give you a bit of advice about where to look if you’re trying to find new bands to listen to.
I'm back with another edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show.  This will more than likely be the last one of 2023, since the music industry will very shortly be closing down for Christmas. Thanks to everyone who's taking the time to give these shows a listen, and I hope you find something you like amongst the music I'm playing.Hopefully (thanks at least in part to people like Anika and Kirk) I could be doing a few more of these over the coming months, and you might even start to see me appearing at a few gigs in the West Yorkshire area.
How about another edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show?  Ah... go on. then.  As usual, loads of new stuff (well, new-ish considering how long it's been since the last one).  Whatever, there's loads of stuff from all over the Rock and Metal spectrum, so there's probably going to be something you'll like that you've never heard before.Shall we get on?
Hello again and welcome to the four hundredth (yes, you did read that correctly!) edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show.So I've done 400 individual podcasts as either Wyrd Ways Rock Show or WWRS: The Forge, so for the milestone I thought I'd return to the original numbering and even the original style - doing it in Roman numerals. What's in this edition?  Aside from me ranting on a little bit about the state of Heavy music at the moment (mostly the Death Metal, Metalcore and Deathcore scenes - I am worried about the preponderance of vocalists who are pretty much interchangeable in terms of sound and the conformity of song structures), it's all about the music. What's in the playlist?  Take a look on the website or give it a listen.  That's the best way to find out!
Welcome to the latest edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show.As per usual, there's loads of new stuff, including Scene Queen's new one, a track from Dave Ellefson's new band, Dieth and a track from brand new Nottingham-based band, Alt Blk Era.  Obviously that's not all.  Heading for two hours of top class Metal.Check the tracklisting on the Wyrd Ways Rock Show website at www.wyrdwaysrs.com
Let's not beat around the bush. This is a new episode of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show.  I've not done one for a few months for... reasons.Turn it up.
Welcome to the much-delayed September edition of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show. Why the delay?  Family bereavement.  Nuff said.  Anyway, I'm back and since I already had the tracklisting sorted, I thought I'd record the show I'd already built.  This stuff might not be as new as what I normally serve up, but I still think there'll be something in there you've never heard before.
This show is running a few days late because it was my birthday on Friday, and I had other things to sort out during the week running up to it.  Basically, "life gets in the way".  Anyway, welcome back to The Wyrd Ways Rock Show - the podcast/radio show that leaves the mistakes and verbal hiccups in and plays you the most awesome music available.  Turn it up and enjoy.
A slightly longer show this week.  I seem to be getting back into this.  At least for now.  The new stuff is the focus of this generation of The Wyrd Ways Rock Show, so that's what this week's edition is all about - new music.  As a bit of an indulgence, though, I am finishing with a classic slice of 80's cheese.Mosh buffers to maximum.  Here we go...
Didn't really know if I was ever going to be typing anything here ever again!  Welcome back to The Wyrd Ways Rock Show.  Taking everything back to basics, the plan is just to play new stuff that excites me and that I like.  That's the long and the short of it - it's stuff I like.  If you like it too, so much the better.
Second test.  Same idea: about half an hour of music I like, except this is almost all brand new stuff this time out.  Check the Wyrd Ways Rock Show website for a list of what's in this one.PHRubN6dV0JioKs87AS9
