Siyona gives a brief overview of one of the main struggles that refugees face- religious persecution. Tolerance and inclusivity is a huge part of our mission statement, and this episode covers the discrimination that many asylum seekers have gone through. It's an honest conversation about the implications and harmfulness of religious intolerance, and it also explains how this could lead to the development of mental health issues. 

Kazi provides a detailed example based off an article of a refugee's own experience with mental health issues and goes more into depth about the three areas. These include pre-flight, flight, and resettlement. She also goes into what conditions they could be facing and how these often stem into  the development of disorders. Taryn gives our take on how we can address the growing Mental Health crisis among refugees! She provides some super unique solutions including connecting resettled refugees with the community through exercise programs and other means of rehabilitation. She also touches on a screening process that could be super helpful with undiagnosed mental illnesses. All these are creative new approaches to tackle the issue, so tune in for some cool ideas!
