Description

This golf enthusiast has been addicted to golf since I was 8 years old, that's 40 years to you and me.  Always trying to get the best deal on forged golf irons before they are all gone.  Classic forged irons are really what get me excited about hitting golf balls the way they were intended to be hit.  That goes for classic putters and classic persimmon woods too.  Golf is far too expensive and it doesn't have to be.  Golf can be participated in for far less money than what you think.  Golf equipment, golf balls at the range, golf outings at the local muni, outings at upper echelon golf courses, and maybe attending the infrequent PGA Tour tournament.

I started the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on Facebook.

Hello again fellow Golfists,I really enjoyed watching the final round of The Masters with Mr Producer.  It was so awe inspiring to watch Scottie Scheffler win his 2nd Green Jacket at The 2024 Masters Tournament in Augusta Georgia.  His performance on that day showed me that he had a 15th club in the bag that gave him the confidence to be able to tackle any and every shot that was presented to him during the Final Round.  His patience and his ability to improvise on the golf course during that final round was better than anyone else in the field and set him up to have a dominant four shot victory.  Jim Nantz and CBS also did a brilliant job on their documentary highlighting Jose Maria Olazabal, before the final round started on Masters Sunday!!Thank you so very much for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast.  Check out my latest video from the putting green at Sacramento National at the end of Masters Saturday with a new to me putter that I picked up with points at my local Play It Again Sports store.  https://youtu.be/ohl_8tuTzfw?si=dhcJjuFntmTTHw13GOD Bless You!  And thanks again for listening!!As Scottie's Caddie Ted Scott says, "You're stress is not my stress.  Love changes everything.  Love on people even when they are stressful.  Love on others and we'll change the world."  Matthew 11:28-30https://www.instagram.com/jtedscott/Support the show#mailboxesplusroseville #theknackeredgolfistpodcast@theknackeredgolfistCheck out The Knackered Golfist on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfistThis episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on FacebookOughton's Golf Repairhttps://oughtonsgolf.com/#myonlinegolfclubhttp://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Thank a Veteran Today!!https://www.pgareach.org/services/militaryGOD Bless You!!
Hello again fellow golfists, I watched a bit of golf last weekend and it was a great victory for Scottie Scheffler.  He got a new Taylor Made mallet putter and he was really rolling the rock really well at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and won the tournament at 15 under par.  I shared a bit of time with Mr Esch and viewed his huge golf collection that is up for sale on Facebook Market Place.  He has a series of videos highlighting the items that he has for sale in the Northern California / Sacramento region.  I think the NBC guys did a good job this week televising and commenting on the golf that is the buildup to The Players Championship next week.  I hope the winning score is below 10 under par, but I doubt that will happen.  Time change sucks.  Thanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast.  Here is a link to Mr Esch's golf collection sale that I saw a few days ago:https://youtu.be/uUvZaihuKRc?si=vX2h1VV0dIiokcnDSupport the show#mailboxesplusroseville #theknackeredgolfistpodcast@theknackeredgolfistCheck out The Knackered Golfist on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfistThis episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on FacebookOughton's Golf Repairhttps://oughtonsgolf.com/#myonlinegolfclubhttp://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Thank a Veteran Today!!https://www.pgareach.org/services/militaryGOD Bless You!!
Hello again Fellow Golfists, First of all, thank you for downloading and listening to any of my golf related podcast episodes.  I hope that listening to any of these golf episodes helps you thrive throughout your day in one way or another.  I try to be a bit irreverent and I try to tell it like I see it.  I got to visit a putting green on a Sunday afternoon in-between the final 2 NFL football games of the 2023-2024 NFL season while gale force winds were moving through south western Placer county on what should have been the final day of the AT&T Pebble Beach National Am Pro from the Monterey Peninsula.  In this episode, I share a bit of commentary on what I experienced while spending close to 2 blissful hours on a putting green on Sunday afternoon while practicing my putting stroke in gale force winds.  This was my way of  trying to practice with 2 new to me putters, a BeCu Ping B60 and a BeCu Ping B61 putter.  And also a Ping Pal 4 BeCu that I bought on OfferUp and a Ping Pal 4 BeCu putter that double TKG podcast guest, Jesse Parra, graciously sent to me.  I also offer a bit of commentary on the so called "West Coast Swing" on the PGA Tour.  Even though the winds at the Sierra Pines 9 hole golf course were ferocious I still enjoyed my time getting to know how these great putters felt in my hands.Thank you once again for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast.  Please check out my YouTube Channel "The Knackered Golfist" and let me know if you have any questions or comments.     GOD Bless!#sierrapinesgolfcourse https://www.timbercreekgc.com/Support the show#mailboxesplusroseville #theknackeredgolfistpodcast@theknackeredgolfistCheck out The Knackered Golfist on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfistThis episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on FacebookOughton's Golf Repairhttps://oughtonsgolf.com/#myonlinegolfclubhttp://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Thank a Veteran Today!!https://www.pgareach.org/services/militaryGOD Bless You!!
Hello again fellow Golfists, I am now a believer in the Karsten Solheim / Ping way of putting.  For years I have never been able to use a Ping style putter the way it was designed and intended.  After 40 years of perseverance I can now say that I can putt much more consistently with a Ping putter.  I had an outing with a Ping B63 putter at Mather Golf Course and made a video that is up on my YouTube channel: The Knackered Golfist.  Here is a link: https://youtu.be/hHv5N_04Eo4?si=Lnds3TPZg6I_LMGPAnyway I look forward to practicing more with Ping putters and hopefully having a decent round of golf with one from my growing collection.  Thank you Veterans for your military service!  #thankaveterantoday#theknackeredgolfistpodcast#pingputters#pingb63Support the show#mailboxesplusroseville #theknackeredgolfistpodcast@theknackeredgolfistCheck out The Knackered Golfist on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfistThis episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on FacebookOughton's Golf Repairhttps://oughtonsgolf.com/#myonlinegolfclubhttp://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Thank a Veteran Today!!https://www.pgareach.org/services/militaryGOD Bless You!!
Hello again Fellow Golfists,Well I was practicing with a Ping Pal 4 BeCu putter at Thunder Valley Golf Resort and it went well.  I don't know if I cracked a putter code or anything but it sure seems that I was putting a bit more consistently with my Ping Pal 4 putter.  I also made a video of my session on the youtube channel.  Thanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist!https://youtu.be/_4HAsDdYHV8?si=hlGvqRCByuWZTkWBSupport the show#mailboxesplusroseville #theknackeredgolfistpodcast@theknackeredgolfistCheck out The Knackered Golfist on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfistThis episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on FacebookOughton's Golf Repairhttps://oughtonsgolf.com/#myonlinegolfclubhttp://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Thank a Veteran Today!!https://www.pgareach.org/services/militaryGOD Bless You!!
Hello again Golfists, I got to go out to the range on a Friday afternoon and shake down a new to me set of irons that I traded a bunch of putters for last week.  I got a new to me set of FORGED Founders Club Tour CB THE JUDGE irons that was 3 thru 9 iron and I picked up a Mizuno MP 9 Pitching Wedge that was in the single club rack at my local Play It Again Sports.  Separate from the MP9 PW, these clubs were designed by Jeff Sheets and they are in really good shape.  These are really good clubs and might be a bit too long for me.  What will I do.  Will I have to reshaft my pitching wedge? Thanks for listening to The Knackered GolfistPlease LIKE SHARE AND SUBSCRIBE!!   #golf #golfswing#golfdrivingrange#oughton'sgolf#jeffsheets#foundersclubgolf#mizunogolf#sacramentonational#hagginoaks#forgedgolfclubappreciation#algeiberger#mr59Support the show#mailboxesplusroseville #theknackeredgolfistpodcast@theknackeredgolfistCheck out The Knackered Golfist on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfistThis episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on FacebookOughton's Golf Repairhttps://oughtonsgolf.com/#myonlinegolfclubhttp://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Thank a Veteran Today!!https://www.pgareach.org/services/militaryGOD Bless You!!
Hello again Fellow Golfists!!I purchased a new to me 2 iron from a bargain rack at Play It Again Sports and tonight was my first outing with it.  It is a Ben Hogan Apex Redline 2 iron with the Hogan Apex Extra 4 shaft.  I hit a few good ones but all in all I think that this particular shaft was worth the price.  If I ever get my hands on a Wilson Staff Gooseneck FG53 2 iron I just might put this shaft into it.  I had a decent outing at Sacramento National and used my new to me iphone to make a couple of good slow motion videos of me hitting rather good shots.  I had another outing with the Ping Tisi driver with the Larry Bobka Laker shaft.  I had to put a little bit of weighted tape on the back of that to help with the constant fade slice.  All and all a good outing.  Ball quality rating at Sacramento National on this night was a 6 out of 10.  0 being completely rubbish range balls and 10 being brand new range balls.  24 dollars for 150 range balls with top tracer simulators that don't work.  Thanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast.   #golf#golfpodcast#golfswing#golfclubs#golftalk#golfcourse#golfdrivingrange#benhogangolf#ping#larrybobka#playitagainsportsSupport the show#mailboxesplusroseville #theknackeredgolfistpodcast@theknackeredgolfistCheck out The Knackered Golfist on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfistThis episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on FacebookOughton's Golf Repairhttps://oughtonsgolf.com/#myonlinegolfclubhttp://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Thank a Veteran Today!!https://www.pgareach.org/services/militaryGOD Bless You!!
Hello again Fellow Golfists, Well it was rare for me to actually have fun at Sacramento National on a night that had a gorgeous sunset, gorgeous moon, and a gentle breeze that kept things relatively cool on a Friday night in middle to late October 2023.  On this night I shared the time between hitting mostly fully dimpled Srixon Marathon Range balls with my Wilson Staff Goosenecks, new to me Ping Tisi driver and new to me Callaway S2H2 12 degree lofted driver and meeting some local golf club enthusiasts who let me try out a couple of their clubs.  I got to try a Ben Hogan Apex PC 6 iron and a Ben Hogan Director 6 iron both with the #4 shaft.  I have never had such a positive experience where actual golf enthusiasts actually wanted to chat about golf equipment.  It was almost like being at a Cars and Coffee event.  I also got to made a video for The Knackered Golfist YouTube channel and it was really fascinating to see how the footage turned out.  This is basically a 2 part episode.  Part 1 being the drive I had sharing golf news of the week driving to Sacramento National (2023 ZOZO Championship from Japan and the TalkinGolf Podcast Rise and Demise of the Ben Hogan Golf Company Complete Series) and Part 2 was me reflecting on a surprising grand night out at Sacramento National meeting some great golf club enthusiasts!  Many thanks to the folks that I met while making content for my podcast and my youtube channel on this night.  GOD Bless you for listening to The Knackered Golfist!! Support the show#mailboxesplusroseville #theknackeredgolfistpodcast@theknackeredgolfistCheck out The Knackered Golfist on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfistThis episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on FacebookOughton's Golf Repairhttps://oughtonsgolf.com/#myonlinegolfclubhttp://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Thank a Veteran Today!!https://www.pgareach.org/services/militaryGOD Bless You!!

Hello again Fellow Golfists, This host made an investment in a golf training aide product that already shaved 5 strokes off my game in my most recent golf outing.  I shot 75 on a golf course where I normally shoot 80 or 81.  Under difficult conditions at my local municipal golf course I had a very good day of golf.  I owe my success this past weekend to the device that is called the Leadbetter "Straight Away" training device from Performance Golf.  David Leadbetter is internationally known for being the golf instructor that helped Nick Faldo win 6 major championships.  Leadbetter has instructed many golf professionals to help them win on the PGA Tour and have victories in the world of major championship golf.  Names like Price, Els, Faldo and Frost are most notable in my memory.  This device helped me with my driver, my irons, and most surprisingly with my putter.  I had a great time playing golf during the much cooler than anticipated Labor Day weekend in Northern California.  I practiced with this new device at the Emerald Lakes Golf Course in Elk Grove California and also the Thunder Valley Golf Resort at Whitney Oaks in Rocklin California.  I had different experiences at both facilities.  Wow, I just realized that this is my 100th episode.  I want to thank you for listening to my content about my golf experiences.  I think this means that I will be doing a reflective TKG episode in the near future.  Thanks again for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast!GOD Bless You!!
Hello again Fellow Golfists, I wanted to share that I listened to a great historical podcast last night and thought that Conor T. Lewis and his TalkinGolf Podcast did a great job discussing the history of the Ben Hogan Golf Company with John Barba of MyGolfSpy.com.  This episode was so great at describing and documenting all of the great history that happened when Mr Hogan was involved in his company.  I always thought that a golf club with Ben Hogan's name on it was better when Ben Hogan was alive.  There were many trials and tribulations that happened during the company's existence in the golf market place.  I just wanted to share what Ben Hogan and the Ben Hogan Golf Company meant to me.  Thank you so much for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast.  GOD Bless You!!#forgedgolfclubappreciation#theknackeredgolfistSupport the show#mailboxesplusroseville #theknackeredgolfistpodcast@theknackeredgolfistCheck out The Knackered Golfist on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfistThis episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on FacebookOughton's Golf Repairhttps://oughtonsgolf.com/#myonlinegolfclubhttp://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Thank a Veteran Today!!https://www.pgareach.org/services/militaryGOD Bless You!!
Hello again Fellow Golfists, I was able to play my last round of golf of the summer before Mr Producer goes back to school.  I was fortunate enough to be able to finally play Hiddenbrooke Golf Club in Vallejo California.  This was the site of the 2000 through 2002 Samsung World Championship on the LPGA Tour.  This golf course was "such good fun" to play with so many Justin Rose-isms of having many "ebbs and flows" and many "peaks and valleys".  I struggled with my driver off the tee during my round at Hiddenbrooke but I had a very good day with my Wilson Staff Gooseneck FG 53 irons and my Titleist Bulls Eye putter.  These irons continue to impress me on par3's and approaches to par 4's.  I indeed have cool hands while swinging these amazing FORGED irons.  I also got to get a good practice session in at the Antelope Greens Golf Course and Driving Range in Elverta California.  This facility is really a good place to practice shots on a highly maintained all grass tee driving range facility.  I never thought having and maintaining an all grass driving range tee at a public golf facility could be possible.  This is a place that I will indeed visit again. Thanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast!!
Hello again Fellow Golfists, I wanted to share an episode where I talked about what my most recently purchased golf iron set means to me and how they feel in my hands.  The shafts that are in these irons are still very good.  I had a good late morning outing at the Indian Creek Country Club Driving Range in Loomis California before temperatures reached 100 degrees.  The driving range ball quality was simple and decent.  The driving range was simple, reasonably priced for a large bucket of balls, and well distanced.  I do hope that the final 2 PGA Tour playoff events of 2023 are not pre-empted by the NFL who will be broadcasting pre-season San Francisco 49er games on CBS KOVR Channel 13 in Sacramento for the next 2 Sunday afternoons.  The 49ers were decimated today by the Las Vegas / Los Angeles / Oakland Raiders.  Uh Oh!!Thanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast GOD Bless You!!
Hello again Fellow Golfists, I was able to take a trip to the Monterey Peninsula area and cool off from being socked into triple digit temperatures in Northern California for a few days in early August 2023.  I was very excited to play golf at the Laguna Seca Golf Ranch in Monterey California.  I had a ball meeting the staff and playing a Robert Trent Jones Senior and Junior collaboration golf course that was constructed in 1970.  The course was an elevation changing, kikuyu grass fairway perfect lie creating, and smooth and firm rolling groomed greens playing experience that I really enjoyed on a simply immaculate cool breeze kind of a Friday afternoon on the Monterey Peninsula.   I also got to visit The Hay at Pebble Beach and play the putting course there.  I got to play with Mr Producer and Mr Content Maker at this putting course and also made a video of the outing as well.  I also had a great round playing with my new Wilson Staff FG 53 Gooseneck blades during my outing at LSGC.  These golf clubs are gorgeous pieces of craftsmanship from Wilson from the late 1980's.  Many thanks to my "Better Half" and "Mr Producer" for making this trip possible in the first place.  Without them this podcast and the content that I make for this podcast and YouTube channel would not be possible. God Bless You and Thank You for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast!     Make your tee time for a visit to Laguna Seca Golf Ranch by visiting:www.lagunasecagolf.com   Support the show#mailboxesplusroseville #theknackeredgolfistpodcast@theknackeredgolfistCheck out The Knackered Golfist on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfistThis episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on FacebookOughton's Golf Repairhttps://oughtonsgolf.com/#myonlinegolfclubhttp://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Thank a Veteran Today!!https://www.pgareach.org/services/militaryGOD Bless You!!
Hello again Fellow Golfists, I wanted to share a great weekend of golf that was the week of The Open Championship from Royal Liverpool at Hoylake and visiting the 3rd round of the Reno Tahoe Open which is also known as the Barracuda Championship from Old Greenwood Golf Course in Truckee California.  I had a great time visiting Old Greenwood last Saturday.  I followed Cameron Champ for the front 9 and it was an amazing time of seeing proper golf shots hit by proper touring professionals.  l also got to have my picture taken with a guy that has a really good mustache, second only to the reassuring mustache of Nigel Mansell. I also got to have a couple of shakedown sessions with my new to me Wilson Staff FG 53 Gooseneck irons from the early 90s.  One little bucket of range balls was at the driving range at Northstar at Tahoe in 95 degrees.  And the other was at the back of the range at Sacramento National  in 108 degrees.  Special shout out to my Uncle Mike, David Olivieri, and Jesse Parra.  Thank you for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast.God Bless You!!northstarcalifornia.com Ship your golf clubs at "Mail Boxes Plus" next to Raley's on Douglas Blvd in the Roseville Center in  Roseville California Support the show#mailboxesplusroseville #theknackeredgolfistpodcast@theknackeredgolfistCheck out The Knackered Golfist on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfistThis episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on FacebookOughton's Golf Repairhttps://oughtonsgolf.com/#myonlinegolfclubhttp://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Thank a Veteran Today!!https://www.pgareach.org/services/militaryGOD Bless You!!
Hello again Fellow Golfists,Just wanted to see what my Uncle Mike thought about this weekend with The Open Championship from Royal Liverpool.  It was great to chat with him about golf and what it means to him.  I enjoy his viewpoints and perspective regarding golf and it was great to be able to play golf with him when I got the chance at his home club at Willamette Valley Country Club in Canby Oregon back when I was a kid.  I think I watched far too much golf back during the US Open at LACC weekend and I think that I need to hit the road a little bit to visit the Old Greenwood Golf Course in Truckee California this Saturday.  The PGA Tour is making its yearly stop here this weekend and I finally want to see this tournament for the first time.  Old Greenwood is a Jack Nicklaus Designed Golf Course.  Hope you have a great weekend.  Thanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast.
Hello again fellow Golfists, I got to play golf today after work and had a good day out at Davis Golf Course in Davis California.  If "No Laying Up" can have a "Tourist Sauce" golf video series watching and recording all of the thoughts, processes, and idiosyncrasies of golf rounds that those blokes take part in, I think it is ok for me to give a post round debrief and or press conference, if you will, to share things that I may have experienced and learned out on the golf course during an outing.  I enjoyed the course set up today at Davis GC and it was also good to get further acquainted with my 1978 Wilson Staff Tour Blade Musclebacks, my "new to me" Wilson Cary Middlecoff Autograph forged deep face blade putter, my Nike VR Pro sand wedge, and the Taylor Made Project (a) golf ball.   I had the privilege of playing with 2 really good golfers today as well.  Greg and Ken really were a joy to play with.  Playing with those chaps really brought out some great shot making in all of us.  I was thankful that I had brought enough backup drinking water to get me through playing in 100 degree heat.  And a special shoutout and kudos to the pro shop starter for allowing me to go back and complete the 5th hole today for my handicap after we had to skip it earlier because of slow play.   I recommend using "My Online Golf Club" for a free way to keep track of your golf scores, that can help you establish a handicap based on your performance out on the course.  http://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Support the show#mailboxesplusroseville #theknackeredgolfistpodcast@theknackeredgolfistCheck out The Knackered Golfist on YouTubehttps://www.youtube.com/@TheKnackeredGolfistThis episode brought to you by the Forged Golf Club Appreciation page on FacebookOughton's Golf Repairhttps://oughtonsgolf.com/#myonlinegolfclubhttp://www.us.myonlinegolfclub.com/Thank a Veteran Today!!https://www.pgareach.org/services/militaryGOD Bless You!!
Hello again Fellow Golfists,The 123rd US Open happened last weekend and it was troubling that many golf fans in Southern California were denied the ability to purchase regular grounds tickets to be able to attend the third major golf championship of 2023.  Numerous golf fans make major championships far more memorable and far more relevant.  If I lived in Southern California I would have wanted to attend and enjoy the US Open golf tournament at LACC.  The "lack thereof" of fans last week was sad and showed that the game of golf made a critical mistake of pushing aside the loyalty and dedication of many millions of golfers of all ages and of all backgrounds.   Thankyou for listening to The Knackered Golfist PodcastThank A Veteran Today!Respect Your Local Golf Course!!
Hello again Fellow Golfists,Well its US Open week and this year it is at the highly anticipated North Course at Los Angeles Country Club.  I have been looking forward to this tournament for a long time and now it's here.  Nobody has ever seen this golf course on television and from what I have seen it is a golf course that is unlike any golf course I have ever seen on television.  From a design perspective it is a masterpiece with a little bit of a sig alert on the 405 freeway.  I really look forward to watching this on tv this Father's Day weekend.  God Bless You Thank a Veteran Today!!
Hello Again Fellow Golfists,Well Brooks Koepka just won his third Major Championship in New York State.  He dominated on Sunday during the final round of the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill CC in Pittsford New York, just outside of Rochester.  He won with a winning score of 9 under par over Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler.  This marks his fifth major championship win.  A little known PGA professional named Michael Block from Arroyo Trabuco GC in Mission Viejo, California stole America's hearts and minds with his final round play yesterday finishing in 15th place allowing him to be exempt into the PGA at Valhalla in 2024.  His play on the back nine was written very much like a screenplay for a Tin Cup type of movie.  The roar after his hole in one on the 15th hole was very similar to a Buffalo Bills touchdown pass in the final seconds of an AFC Playoff game.  I had a good time watching the final round on CBS yesterday and also am thankful that they completed all of the play on Saturday during the rain to then finish on Sunday at the regularly scheduled ending time.  Very much looking forward now to the 2023 US Open at Los Angeles CC next month.  Thank you so much for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast!Let someone know that you see them today.
