Description
I have been addicted to golf since I was 8 years old. That's 40 years to you and me. I remember when good golf equipment was really hard to find. Now it is everywhere. There are many people who don't know that there are many fine pieces of golf equipment in second hand stores that are still relevant to today's municipal golf course experience. I speak about how golf is overpriced and doesn't have to be. I showcase and encourage how the beginner golfer can get a real bang for the buck by buying used golf equipment at their local second hand sports equipment store. Imagine sinking a putt with a 5 dollar putter for a birdie when the guy that spent 300 dollars just made a bogey. Check out my blog called The Knackered Golfist. I am also on YouTube under The Knackered Golfist. Thank you for listening. https://theknackeredgolfist647420645.wordpress.com/ https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLvzjMziOxGlXmbxtOVgH4g

Hello Again Fellow Golfists,Well Brooks Koepka just won his third Major Championship in New York State. He dominated on Sunday during the final round of the 2023 PGA Championship at Oak Hill CC in Pittsford New York, just outside of Rochester. He won with a winning score of 9 under par over Viktor Hovland and Scottie Scheffler. This marks his fifth major championship win. A little known PGA professional named Michael Block from Arroyo Trabuco GC in Mission Viejo, California stole America's hearts and minds with his final round play yesterday finishing in 15th place allowing him to be exempt into the PGA at Valhalla in 2024. His play on the back nine was written very much like a screenplay for a Tin Cup type of movie. The roar after his hole in one on the 15th hole was very similar to a Buffalo Bills touchdown pass in the final seconds of an AFC Playoff game. I had a good time watching the final round on CBS yesterday and also am thankful that they completed all of the play on Saturday during the rain to then finish on Sunday at the regularly scheduled ending time. Very much looking forward now to the 2023 US Open at Los Angeles CC next month. Thank you so much for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast!Let someone know that you see them today. Hello again Fellow Golfists,It's time for the 2nd major championship of 2023 and it is being held at Oak Hill CC in Pittsford New York. I am looking forward to this championship unfolding this weekend. I had a good drive into work this morning. I hope that you have a good day and thank you for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast!GOD Bless You!Say "Hello" To Someone Today! Hello again Fellow Golfists,It was great to be able to watch the final round of the 2023 Masters Tournament on CBS. Jon Rahm won it by 4 strokes and put on a clinic keeping his head together. Rahm was not rattled by anything other than maybe a little bit of slow play. His ability to play Amen Corner EVEN par on Easter Sunday was magnificent.I hope to be able to complete watching the documentary that CBS made for Tom Weiskopf. Mr. Weiskopf passed away in 2022. He had runner up finishes at The Masters 4 times. He won the 1973 Open Championship at Troon. I remember watching him win the United States Senior Open at Congressional Country Club in 1995. Thank you for listening to The Knackered Golfist. GOD Bless America! GOD Bless You All!HE HAS RISEN!! Hello again Fellow Golfists,I got to watch recorded coverage of The Masters on Saturday and was entertained by it. I also enjoyed listening to many interviews leading up to the start back on Thursday. I wish that there was no rain but hopefully it will all work out for good tomorrow on Easter Sunday. I am thankful to have heard the interview with Watson, Player, and Nicklaus after the ceremonial first tee shots back on Thursday. They really made some good comments on the future of golf and how having a longer golf ball makes golf less enjoyable. Thanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist. Happy Easter!!GOD Bless America!! Hello again Fellow Golfists, It's Players Championship week and I offer my thoughts on this tournament happening at TPC at Sawgrass in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida. This golf fan hopes that it stays firm and fast throughout the weekend with no precipitation making the course soft and sluggish. It's a shot makers golf course that demands the player to curve and finesse the golf ball every which way he can while playing this week on tour. It's the PGA Tour's Crown Jewel golf tournament; the 5th major of the year! I also offer a few insights on a new putter that I picked up this week. I cannot wait to be able to putt on the practice green with it after the rain clears out. Thanks again for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast. Hello again fellow Golfists, I shared a few of thoughts on the final round at the 2023 Honda Classic at PGA National today. Congratulations to Chris Kirk for his first victory on the PGA Tour in 8 years. Glad to see that the one club that wasn't Callaway didn't cost him the whole enchilada today, his Taylor Made Stealth 3 wood. He was able to regroup on the 18th in regulation and forced a playoff and eventually won it all. It was good to see Jack Nicklaus offer his thoughts on the play on the final day at what was the last tournament that Honda will be sponsoring. Honda has been the sole sponsor for this tournament at least 40 years. This tournament started as the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic 51 years ago in 1972. It was interesting to see Mr. Nicklaus offer his thoughts on the tournament going forward, with insight as to how the future tour schedule will be. I also shared a bit of feedback on my most recent visit to the putting green at the Thunder Valley Golf Resort at Whitney Oaks. I also may have won a prize by one of my comments on a video that I saw recently. Hope you are well and thanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast!!GOD Bless America!! Here are some final thoughts on the 2023 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro Am. Justin Rose won on Monday and that was good. Thanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist. Check out the Forged Golf Club Appreciation Page on Facebook Check out The Knackered Golfist on YouTube
Hello again fellow Golfists,I was happy to be able to see some golf from Pebble Beach on Groundhog Day weekend 2023. The PGA Tour decided to do away with amateur play on Sunday at Pebble and stick with what sells; professionals playing golf. I was delighted to see this change of format because it allowed at least the pros to play the front nine on Sunday after the tournament was halted Saturday because of high winds at Monterey Peninsula Golf Club. Tom Kite won the US Open at Pebble Beach in gale force winds and nobody halted any play that day in June 1992. Once the play was over on CBS I got to see the continuing coverage on Peacock that also allowed me to see a gorgeous sunset from the Pebble Beach Golf Links. Play was then suspended due to darkness to resume tomorrow at 8am pacific time. I also enjoyed watching golf on this day with very little commercial interruption as well. I hope that Justin Rose can hold on to win tomorrow at Pebble Beach. Thanks again for listening and visit The Knackered Golfist on YouTube to see my most recent music video. Special shout out to Yooto'pea Golf for their wonderful Timeless Gatsby hat that I recieved recently. #theknackeredgolfistpodcast #theknackeredgolfist#acushnetbullseyewideblade#yootopeagolf#thundervalleygolfresortatwhitneyoaks Check out the Forged Golf Club Appreciation Page on Facebook Check out The Knackered Golfist on YouTube
Tried to watch golf Saturday at Pebble Beach on CBS but the wind caused the weather delay. Wind didn’t stop Tom Kite! But it turned into a trip to the putting green! Thanks for listening. Check out the Forged Golf Club Appreciation Page on Facebook Check out The Knackered Golfist on YouTube
Well it's Groundhog Day, again, which means that we need to chat about a certain tournament where big time golfers don't even bother to show up. The Pebble Beach weekend on the PGA Tour is upon us and I wanted to share my opinions of what I think of this weeks tournament. I think that I failed to share that the price for a spectator grounds pass at this tournament starts at $95.00, which is highway robbery on US101. Nobody from last weeks Farmers Insurance Open's first page of the leaderboard showed up to this tournament. Not even Cameron Champ. It is very sad to see such a big time tournament being pushed to the side for CBS to run endless ads for their programming and to generate ad revenue. The field for this tournament is worse than the 2022 Fortinet Championship that I attended back in September, and I even paid for a concert that I didn't stay to watch. I literally have no idea who is playing in this tournament at all this week. Last weeks purse in San Diego was 8.7 million dollars, This weeks purse in Monterey is 9.0 million dollars.Next weeks purse at Phoenix and at the Genesis in Los Angeles are both 20 million dollar purses. Thank you for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast!!Happy Groundhog Day!! Check out the Forged Golf Club Appreciation Page on Facebook Check out The Knackered Golfist on YouTube
Hello Fellow Golfists, In this episode I am trying ListenApp and I hope that you follow me so maybe we can have ListenApp call in talk shows in the future that are devoted to hearing your comments or opinions of golf to you. I have always wanted to be a radio show host and trying this helps me to gain experience. I follow the podcast "If You Don't Like That" Podcast hosted by Grant Napear and I enjoy contributing to that show as well. Grant Napear was the television voice for the Sacramento Kings for many years. I also share a bit of what is coming up in the next 5 weeks on the PGA Tour in California and Arizona. Happy New Year 2023 from The Knackered Golfist. I am sorry but I am not really feeling like the golf bug is biting me at the moment. I am looking more forward to NFL football rather than watching PGA Tour golf on TV. And I am not looking forward to golf broadcast commercials. NO PLAYING THROUGH!!!! Yikes!!The new year is upon us and we here are neck deep in the raging waters with all of the rain and wind here in Northern California. I am sort of looking forward to when it dries out a bit to at least go to the putting green. But not the green at Sacramento National. Isao Aoki won the Hawaiian Open 40 years ago this week. I watched a video today published by the PGA Tour Honoring Isao Aoki. I was happy to have watched this because it was really well done. Waialae Country Club in Honolulu still hosts this event 40 years later. I mention in this episode that I have a profile on what is called ListenApp. It is an app that is for Android or iPhone that allows followers to participate in a call in sports talk show type of experience with a host who just so happens to have a podcast. My profile is called TKG Trent on ListenApp. If someone would like to follow me on ListenApp we could possibly have a call in type of golf themed talk show kind of episode where we can chat about golf stuff. Thank you so much for all of the downloads and all of the views on The Knackered Golfist on YouTube in 2022. I sincerely appreciate it! Happy Golf Thoughts to you all!!Good Day Good Evening Good Night to wherever you may be!! Hello again Fellow Golfists,I had a great day out at the first event of the 22 - 23 PGA Tour season at the 2022 Fortinet Championship at Silverado Resort and Spa. I had a great time meeting and chatting with fellow golfists that had really cool stories to share about what golf means to them. I especially enjoyed sitting next to a lovely couple, who shared their pork jerky with me and who also happened to be from Gilroy California. They were the parents of Kyle Harrigan who is the Golf Course Superintendent at the North Course at the Silverado Resort and Spa. They were fun to sit with and chat with about all of the afternoon groups that were coming through the 11th tee. I then also got to sit next to a lovely couple who were from San Mateo and who also got to witness a hole in one on the 11th hole at the North Course at Silverado. I look forward to sharing my tidbits and little interviews that I collected today in the near future on The Knackered Golfist Podcast. Thanks for Listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast!! Oh, by the way, The Knackered Golfist Podcast is now available on ListenApp. Check out the Forged Golf Club Appreciation Page on Facebook Check out The Knackered Golfist on YouTube
Hi Again Folks, NFL Football is here and that means that summer will end like it usually does. I'm going to see the PGA Tour in Napa California this weekend at the Fortinet Championship at Silverado Golf Resort in Napa California. Stop me and say hi. I would enjoy chatting with you about something and have you on the show! I will be there Saturday. I am going to try and plumb bob my way around Silverado this Saturday. I wanted to share a putter that I have been puttering around with while putting green hopping around courses in Sacramento this past Saturday. I'm tinkering around with a knackered Ping Cushin putter. It was good to comfortably practice putting at on putting greens in that hopping rotation. I forgot to share an encounter that I had with local sports commentator Grant Napear. He helped my understand why the PGA Tour is the best professional golf tour in the world. Hello again Fellow Golfists, Just wanted to share my most recent golf outing at Blue Rock Springs Golf Course in Vallejo California. I got to play the West Course recently. I chatted about my most recent golf round, who I played with, how long it took, funny things that happened, playing in older style golf shoes, new but older clubs I picked up, dealing with a herniated putter, my new handicap index, trying to putt with a spanish accent, with a flourish of cooler San Pablo bay breeze to finish the round with. Hoping your next putt is so easy to get in and out of, you know. Thanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist Podcast So easy to get in and out of, you know. Hello again Fellow Golfists, In this episode, I chatted about a new golf course that I got to play going into the last weekend in July 2022. This course had significant changes in elevation which I really like. It reminded me of a course that I used to play when I was in college. I got to play the East Course at Blue Rock Springs Golf Course in Vallejo California. I shot 82 out there and had a good time having Davis Love III swing thoughts. I drove the ball better and putted a bit more consistently. I mentioned a bit of history of the golf course and surrounding golf courses in the area and how I got to play a course a while back that is now closed. Mare Island Golf Course is now closed and I am quite sad about it. It was the golf course that was adjacent to the Mare Island Naval Shipyard in Vallejo California that closed in April of 1996. It was a gem of a course that I got to play a while ago. It was the oldest course west of the Mississippi River. Anyway I sort of broke down what it was like to play golf in significant wind and how the wind messes with your brain. I adopted a new method of putting that was consistent for this round and I chose a putter from my collection that I actually have never played golf with on an actual golf course. Hello fellow Blokeish Golfists, Here is me getting up with a chipper attitude and not sounding as groggy as I did yesterday. I really enjoyed the drama that unfolded today during the final round of The Open at St. Andrews. I enjoyed sipping ginger beer and munching on traditional scottish chips while making quirky comments inbetween the brilliant new Mercedes C Class commercial was exciting. Regrettably I couldn't have been more distracted from the golf than I was during the birdie run that Cameron Smith was on during his back nine on Sunday. The par that Rory made on 6 after nearly driving the green and then putting his 2nd shot to the green wasn't good. Rory only shooting 70 on a golf course where the winner shot a total of 20 under wasn't a good round, and its the reason why he couldn't keep the lead. Note to self. Nonetheless, it couldn't have been a more brilliant first major championship win for Cameron Smith!!!Check out my videos on YouTube at: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheKnackeredGolfistThanks for listening to The Knackered Golfist!!#theknackeredgolfist@theknackeredgolfist So easy to get in and out of, you know. Morning Fellow Open Enthusiasts, Just got up early to watch some of the early network coverage of The Open Championship from The Old Course at St. Andrews. I muttered to myself most of the time but went to the 1990 British Open from St Andrews on the other side. I found myself rooting against villain players that are from the other tour. It's still morning and the big leaders haven't teed off yet. Thanks for listening#theknackeredgolfistpodcast So easy to get in and out of, you know. Hello again fellow golfists, I am really excited to see this years playing of the 2022 Open Championship from The Old Course at St Andrews in Fife Scotland. The Old Course is the most famous golf course in the world and it is the site of this year's tournament. So far this week has been filled with historic nostalgia as it relates to celebrating past Open Champions. Jack Nicklaus, Lee Trevino, Sir Bob Charles, and many other past winners were all in attendance there. I wanted to try to share with the listener why they should care about The Open Championship at The Old Course this year. It was just some of my thoughts driving to work the Thursday morning of the 2022 tournament week. I look forward to seeing how the weekend plays out and how a golf course that is 469 years old is relevant in todays game of 460cc drivers, cavity backed forged irons, and laser guided machined putters.Enjoy The Open Championship on NBC Sports in the United States this weekend. Hi again Fellow Golfists, I was inspired to play golf after watching the Genesis Scottish Open today from North Berwick Scotland at the Renaissance Club. Xander Schauffele won today in Scotland and is now a favorite to win The Open at St Andrews next week. I really enjoyed seeing the Scottish Links on the telly and got me really excited for this week watching Rick Schiels doing run up videos at St Andrews. The No Laying Up guys were in Scotland and I watched one of their Tourist Sauce videos yesterday when they all got to visit St Andrews. I chose to play Cherry Island golf course today in Elverta California and it was a struggle to get through the heat and also the course conditions today. But I met a kind and thoughtful marshal named "Lucky" who was frequently checking in with me to make sure that I had plenty of water to drink during this hot round of golf. I appreciate the feedback that I have received on the youtube channel stuff I have been posting recently and look forward to making more episodes related in finding good value playing golf, finding priceless used equipment, and collecting magnetic ball markers.
