I sat down with my daughter for a conversation about her perception of life as a military child, her insight to my darkest day, and what she is doing now.

Ryan Miller spent his time in the Navy taking care of others. As a Corpsman, he has seen and dealt with the very worst in the world. Just 11 days after he was wounded, he was right back with his guys, fighting the fight. Once he was out of the Navy, things seemed tougher. He went to college for X-Ray Tech, but found he was constantly noticing that he just wasn't relating to these "college kids"; even though he was just a year or two older than they were. Ryan deals with his demons his way; by helping others. George lost his son, Tony, just weeks before his 25th birthday. Like many Gold Star families, George felt lost. The tremendous loss of his son had him asking many questions of not only himself, but our country. He wanted to create a national symbol of rememberance. Not just for his son, but for all sons and daughters, fathers, mothers, husbands, wives, etc lost either in battle overseas or here at home to their demons. honorandremember.org Honor and Remember will be on hand at the CocaCola 600 this weekend in Charlotte, NC. Chris and I first met at Nellis AFB, NV in 1993 or 94. I was Chris' shift leader, nco, SRAIC as Chris would say. Any way, Chris' story is not uncommon in the veteran. Addiction, homelessness, bankrupt, suicidal, you name it we have probable done it. Like many of us, Chris knew he needed to change or die. So he changed. Through diet, exercise, natural medicine, yoga, cannabis, cbd, and alot of help, Chris is now clean, married, and successful.
