Host Victoria Ferguson is joined again by Katie Nowak*,  continuing their conversation from episode 8 by taking a walk through the personal post-rape journey through therapy Katie received to help bring awareness that PTSD is common with rape survivors, and is treated with the same treatment as veterans post-war. While also discussing how important it is to feel the weight of our emotions/the importance of not ignoring them since growth is uncomfortable.*Katie is the Founder, and Principle of a strategy consulting agency for start-ups focused on solving global, and pervasive challenges. She is a Mental Health Advocate, & trauma survivor. Katie Co-Founded a seed-stage mental wellness company, as well as the Emerging Leaders Network within the New York Women’s Foundation, & served as a Founding Board Member & Strategic Advisor to Vancouver-based Tri Girls Rise. We discuss how there is often more offence surrounding the word ‘rape’ more than the action itself & the damage that rape culture can cause, What is consent & how we can add this to our societies dialogue, How not feeling safe affects our mental health/wellness, & Applying the same dialogue for men as the media/people do for women.

Nicole is a wellness coach and Ayurvedic Health Counselor. After (over)working for many years in the corporate world, she found herself burnt out and experiencing several physical ailments. Unable to experience effective healing from Western medicine, Nicole was led to the sister sciences of yoga and Ayurveda. Deeply transformed by living the Ayurvedic lifestyle, she shifted from the corporate world into becoming a wellness coach, Ayurvedic Health Counselor, and a yoga teacher. Spending her time sharing the wisdom of Ayurveda, yoga, and behaviour-change science to support others on their own wellness journeys and self-realization, Nicole guides her clients into adopting the habits that ignite the bodies natural ability to heal and thrive.

Her mission is to increase diversity & inclusion with an empathy-driven perspective in historically white & male dominated industries such as tech, VC, & start-ups.
